Ericka performed the majority of my initial appointment to prepare for my root canal, and it went by quickly and efficiently. She's a pleasure to talk to and she clearly explained my case and alongside Dr. West, explained the plan for the root canal My root canal performed by Dr. West was ENTIRELY pain free. I was very comfortable during the whole procedure and could tell that he was being very thorough. It is evident that he takes tremendous pride in his work, and he has a beautiful office and practice to show for it. It's definitely no accident that his team is comprised of the kind, communicative people I had the pleasure of interacting with; dental work/root canals can be stressful, but I never once felt stressed in his team's care. The billing department was simple to work with and handled my insurance seamlessly. Rio called me to assure all my information was correct and to had a quote of my bill in time for me to review before my appointment. She had clear numbers outlined for me and helped me devise a simple payment plan for my treatment. From walking in to leaving, my appointments here have been so smooth and professional. I was originally referred from my dentist at Stadium Dental and am so happy that I scheduled with Dr. West!

Then, during the same visit, he changed direction and said it might be another tooth. The diagnosis felt all over the place. He recommended pulling tooth #30, and if that did not solve the pain, possibly pulling another tooth next. That is extremely concerning when tooth removal is permanent. Thankfully, we got a second opinion. The new dentist and even his assistant immediately identified the real issue on the X-ray at the root area of the painful tooth. A root canal was needed, with no extractions required. If we had trusted Dr. Marfo's recommendation, my family member could have had teeth pulled unnecessarily, followed by bone grafts, post work, cost, and pain/suffering while the actual problem was left untreated. Based on this experience, I have no confidence in his judgment or treatment planning.

I came back out to the front to schedule my next appointment. They informed me that my insurance was maxed. She advised me if I wanted to wait a few months until my insurance is renewed. I opted to do so because I couldn't afford to pay out of pocket. 2 weeks later, I received a bill in the mail for my visit. For some reason, they did not inform me in person that there would be a cost on top of my insurance. I called the billing department and asked why I wasn't I informed in person that there was going to be a cost? I would have refused service and waited if I had known. She immediately took off $100 off the bill. I told her it was still too much. She kept stating that they don't have to tell us the cost, that it was my responsibility to know my insurance and I need cover the cost. Her name was Marcia, a financial consultant. I asked for a manager, she stated she was the manager. I told her it was unlawful for them to not inform me of the cost. Washington state has a No Suprise Act, which requires a medical facility to give a "Good Faith Estimate" at the time of treatment. As soon as I brought up the law, she says "whatever, we'll just write it off" and hung up the phone. She was very rude and shows zero empathy to patients. They use greedy and shady tactics to make as much money as possible. They do not care for their patients

I am so glad Lakewood Endodontics is on the provider list. Couple years ago I had to have a root canal. Now this year I needed another! My Medicare insurance covered both. Your TOOTH HURTS or you would not be searching I bet for an endodontist. That means you want an appointment NOW so to speak. Cool thing this office does is even though they set a date for me I asked to be called if any cancellations or reschedules: they called the next day and I gladly went in a day after first calling. That service is great unlike other medical providers who require you to call in , be on hold, then on hold to see if any openings, and then answering yes or no! Dr Sean Wittner whole office is ten! Upon his inspection, a root canal was needed. Upon the call back I proceeded to be seen even faster! through Endodontist Lakewoods Sean Wittner set an appointment for follow up portion of the root canal too to accomplish in two visits but the first one stopping the pain. Each of my visits, 100% that is, either several minutes before my scheduled time or within 2 minutes I was led back to a room and services commenced immediately (I.e. not waiting for another time period but rather services right away each time). His staff appears as though they love working there and genuinely happy and I told Dr Wittmer that directly as it's so true: it puts a patient in a great mood seeing that. Dr Wittmer explains exactly what he is going to do and shows the visual screen to explain. His quiet voice but stated communications with his assistant Misty in the room also helps reduce any stress too as well as listening to my questions. The rooms look professional also with two toned color schemes and crowns atop doors and windows gives a relaxed professional feeling once you enter the building ( instead of one drab color and blank walls). I hope to use this office the rest of my life if I ever need another root canal as he has performed those twice now perfectly without ever having to correct anything. Give yourself a chance to receive great services too by giving him a call. Address is 10904 Gravelly Lk. Dr Sw, Lakewood Wa 98499 Ph 253 589-3636. ( or go elsewhere and risk a place sitting and waiting, then into a room for sitting again, and wonder who is treating you that day). Hope I helped your desire to give Dr Wittmer a chance to impress you too! Every other office should see how friendly yet efficient this office is. It's worth driving many miles as a sore tooth needing a root canal is bad enough, so offset that with caring professional friendly endodontist.

I have been in pain for weeks and my actual dentist kept insisting that I couldn't have been in as much pain as I said I was. They had me scheduled for the 21st to have a root canal done by a specialist that comes into their office but I knew I could not handle another week and a half of this pain, you know the pain where you no longer resemble a caring human?? Yea, that was me. so I started looking around and a friend sent me the link to Pla & Watts. (She isn't or hasn't been a patient) so I looked on Yelp and though there isn't a ton of ratings I figured I'd give them a call. I don't know who I talked to when I called cause at that point I was so desperate I would have sold my soul to rid of the pain. Anyway, she was so wonderful and was empathetic and made me feel like she cared and didn't want me to stay in pain either so she was able to get me in at 6am 2 days after I called. Best decision I've made when it comes to dental. Something about me, I HATE mornings and the dentist is really the last place I want to show up to when I'm barely awake. However, the second I walked into this place I felt like it was middle of the day and I was very welcomed. Jenny, the lady at the front desk was so kind and helpful. She pulled up what was left on my insurance and ran me through the cost so there was so shock after I was done. Erin, was a breathe of fresh air that early in the morning. I literally signed my paper work and we were off running. Had a few quick x rays and then I was seated. She quickly gave me a run down of what was to come and since I was barely awake I was trying to process it all. But she got me set up and we were off. As we were in the process she explained everything in detail as it was happening so I wasn't left wondering what was going on. That eased what anxiety I carried in. Dr Pla, this woman is a blessing and I'm not just saying this cause she ripped that very aggravated nerve out of my face. She was just a really genuine human and you can tell she loves her job and helping people not to mention I think she is a super morning person and funny!! She was very kind and caring and she worked so fast that it was over pretty much before I stopped shaking from the adrenaline of the numbing shots. Once she did that lovely cold test on my tooth I flinched so bad but she wasted no time jabbing me with the needles and making it stop. (I made that sound painful but it wasn't!) Speaking of... I didn't even feel the pokes cause she did a topical numbing first and shakes your cheek to distract your brain. Once I started numbing up I could have cried cause I had been in constant pain for weeks. If it wouldn't have been so awkward and covid time I probably would have hugged them all. I was so happy and wide awake by 640 am this morning walking out of their office. Everyone at work was happy to have their very happy and playful Dee back! I may have even done a happy dance once my face wasn't numb and I didn't have ANY pain or discomfort from this morning. And you better believe after not eating much other than mashed potatoes for weeks I had the best burger for dinner!! Thank you all again, if you are in need to a root canal and or have had a bad experience with one before this is the place to go, you won't regret it. I promise. Update: Dr. Pla called at the end of her day to make sure I was ok with no discomfort ... who does that?!? That was awesome!

Poor Communication and Scheduling: I was referred by my…read moredentist in July for a tooth likely needing a root canal. At my first visit (July 1), the endodontist performed a cold test and told me to let it settle down and return in a few months. When I returned months later, he took another X-ray, performed another cold test, and confirmed I needed a root canal. However, the earliest available appointment was several weeks out. During this entire time, my tooth pain continued and worsened. One week before my scheduled procedure, the receptionist called to cancel my appointment, stating another patient had an "emergency" and needed my time slot. If this were truly an urgent emergency, the patient would have been seen immediately - not scheduled a week out by taking my already-booked appointment. The receptionist did call back offering a slightly earlier appointment, but gave me only 27 minutes to respond via text or the slot would be given away. I was unable to drop everything and respond within such an unreasonable timeframe. After months of waiting while in pain, having my treatment cancelled last-minute for a non-emergency, then being given an ultimatum with a 27-minute deadline, showed poor practice management and disregard for existing patients. I chose to find another endodontist who would respect both my patient needs and time.
