I went in for my first root canal today, and I'll admit I was pretty nervous. Dr. Goerig and his entire staff went out of their way to make sure I was comfortable and relaxed from the moment I arrived. Throughout the procedure, they explained exactly what they were doing and what to expect, which really helped put me at ease. Even the numbing injections (whatever they use these days!) were virtually painless. I was also impressed by how much modern technology they use. The equipment and techniques were far beyond what I expected. If you ever find yourself needing a root canal, I highly recommend putting Dr. Goerig and his team at the top of your list. I've been on poor people's dentist care for several years. I was treated poorly and care was prolonged. When my husband's insurance finally came through, I jumped ship to middle class dentist care. NW was kind, made an appointment within two weeks of my reference. They were upfront about cost before my appointment. They examined me with a big window to a squirrel feeder (five stars on that alone), they were kind, spoke to me with respect and intellect. Then they scheduled a root canal that afternoon after the exam. It had calcified due to lack of care from my previous dentist. It didn't hurt. They explained everything. They "loved the challenge." Night and day, the treatment towards me as a human was wildly different from Brite Now. I don't think it's fair when insurance for educators pegs you with . Life is stressful enough when you are poor. I am grateful my husband's insurance got me real medical professionals. I don't feel a thing and got immediate care. Thank you! Veteran Friendly Business! I was able to get in at the last minute to see Dr. Kodama at NW Endodontic Specialists and his Tech. Mark. First off, the staff there are all very kind, genuinely caring & considerate. The front desk crew was cordial, friendly & helpful! This is a well-oiled machine & they know what they are doing & they do it very well. The procedure was not as painful as I anticipated. Mark, the tech was very kind, informative, caring and knowledgeable. He also had a head full of beautiful, luscious curls! Dr. Kodama was amazing. He was kind, considerate, caring, communicative and he genuinely cared how I was feeling along the way. I was not in any pain while I was in his chair. I advised Dr. Kodama that I was difficult to sedate, he listened and accommodated me to the point that I was not in any pain while he was treating me. I was so amazed that this business was able to get me in the same day, do the necessary treatment with minimal pain or issues and I walked out amazed at the quality of this business and their crew members. Outstanding treatment in office. No issues with the work done. I didn't need any OTC analgesics after leaving. I did take some 3 Tylenol before bed, but that was due to the Novacaine wearing off & insurance that I'd sleep thru the night in case there was break thru pain. There was no post procedure pain. I am so impressed by this business, their practices, their crew members and their overall model. This is a first class business with a first class business model with clientele care at the forefront. Expert service fast and professional root canal. Clean office nice waiting room. However billing department has no idea how your insurance works. They over charge you even if you supply them your insurance contacts and print out of your coverage. They leave it to your insurance to sort it out and then credit you. They literally charged us out of pocket 700 dollars. When I showed my actual benefit amount they only remarked, " good for you", and immediately ignored me. My insurance did catch us up. Removing an extra 700 dollars in that month from our budget due to their incompetence in billing would lead me to recommend not going here. Their flippant response really sealed the deal for us. Again doctors in the back are top notch but 3 stars is all I can give. read more

Wow! Really impressed by the empathy and compassion shown by every person we interacted with here. My husband has really awful dental anxiety. We've made a lot of progress over the last couple years in dealing with it, but a root canal was always a top fear for him. Jarrod was my first point of contact. He asked specific questions to help choose the best provider from their team for my husband to avoid causing additional trauma to him. Both "bedside" manner and length of treatment time were considered. He absolutely guided us in the right direction; we saw Dr. David Goering. Tiffany was the assistant. They were calm and gentle with my husband without being infantilizing. He was able to keep the lead vest on as a weighted blanket, and they also provided a fleece blanket for his legs to help make him as comfortable as possible. The procedure went relatively quickly (1 hour-ish) and my husband didn't feel any pain after the first numbing injection. Dr. Goering also placed the final filling himself upon request to prevent my husband from having to force himself back to our main dentist for another visit. There were also no unexpected charges at the end of the appointment, which was very appreciated. While I hope my family never needs to visit an endodontist again... I saw David Goerig DDS. 3D x-rays found that my tooth's issue was not root canal related but a fracture in the tooth root. Dr Goering was complete in his description of my options and with suggestions - in my case - what would be the best course of action. Sadly, this means removal of the tooth and not a re-root canal. Terrible experience! You would think a professional place such as this would be able to keep a schedule. They rescheduled the consultation and the crown appointment twice. Once we arrived for our appointment they told us that our appointment was delayed do to an emergency appointment. I understand emergencies happen but if you are going to provide emergency services you should be set up to handle emergencies without it impacting people who have planned appointments. I had an extraction done by a dentist in Ocean Shores, Wa a few years ago, worst experience. When he did the numbing shots in my mouth I almost cried. He also had to do them more than once during the procedure. I just had a root canal done by Albert at Northwest Endodontic's today and it was amazing! He put some numbing cream on first gave me three shots and I barely felt a thing! I was prepared for the worst again and was so relieved that he's a seasoned pro and knows what he's doing. BEST ROOT CANAL EVER!!!!!!!!!!! I don't know if many places can have that claim to fame. Dr. David Goerig and his staff are amazing and friendly. They've got new offices and it immediately soothes you and makes you feel right at ease. Lots of waiting space, magazines and a nice clean bathroom. I told the staff how much I despised needles and how just the thought of that part of the procedure was stressing me out. They offered a solution: Nitrous aka laughing gas and my own music playlist. They have private procedure rooms. I was able to bring my wireless speaker and played an Apple Music curated list from my iPhone. We all enjoyed the music and the visit. When I was leaving the front office staff said they would miss me and my fun music. Dr. David Goerig provided me reassurance that the procedure would be the solution to my tooth issue and offered follow up if any additional help was needed. I've only been to this office 4 times in the past 4 years but it feels like family every time I walk in. read more

I saw Dr. Goerig for a root canal & was so nervous & scared (of needles mostly) his assistant (who's only been there a couple months) sensed that & put me at ease right away, telling me jokes & making me laugh to get my mind off of it. Then dr came in to start the procedure & was so gentle I barely felt the needle at all. He kept me informed of what he was doing thru the whole thing. Next was the staff up front who took care of all the billing (another high stress point for me) & they worked with me to set up a reasonable payment schedule without making me feel bad for it!! This office was not only accommodating, they were downright professional. They put a tiny pillow thing under my head during a root canal and you would think it doesn't make that big of a difference but holy heck I was able to relax in that chair. They used a guard in the mouth so my breathing was never, ever compromised by lack of suction (some dentists have left me gurgling and sputtering). They were able to joke just enough I laughed and enjoyed it but not so much that you would think any of them an irresponsible goof off. Also there is a payment-plan option through Care Credit which they told me about which will allow me to get the treatment I need to fix my pain without having to pay it all upfront. This is useful for anyone who can afford a short-term loan through a secondary company. If I could give my new endo ten stars I would. One year later and I'm still in pain from a root canal Dr. Goerig performed. The pain was so bad after the procedure (worst pain of my life) that I was suicidal for several months and had to drop out of school. The only pain relievers I was prescribed were over the counter Advil and Tylenol which barely helped. I ended up in and out of my primary care doctor's office looking for relief, but no one could figure out what was wrong. I also saw several specialists who could not help. After a couple of months, I had lost almost ten percent of my body weight and was afraid I was becoming malnourished. Although it is difficult to determine what went wrong and who I should point fingers at, here are some things I did NOT like about the root canal experience. 1. I was not offered music like they state on their website and was traumatized by the drilling. 2. Dr. Goerig was extremely rough when drilling -- to the point that my entire head was being physically pushed back into the head rest again and again. 3. Dr. Goerig was not telling me what he was doing. Instead, he was providing training to a visiting dental student and did not ask my permission to be the case study. I felt that he was distracted and was not providing me with a comforting experience. 4. Dr. Goerig took twice as long as promised to complete the procedure and left my jaw wide open the entire time. Now, the right side of my jaw clicks when I open it too far. 5. Dr. Goerig did not wear a mask over his mouth which is unsanitary. 6. Looking at my chart notes, it is highly likely that I didn't even need the root canal. It seems as though Dr. Georig is quick to suggest this procedure when a more conservative approach is needed. 7. I was NOT counseled on the risks of this procedure or told that I may be allergic to (or develop an allergy to) dental materials used in this procedure. Lab testing confirmed that I am "highly reactive" to an ingredient that was used. 8. When the anesthetic started to wear off, Dr. Goerig jabbed another syringe full of it into my mouth and I felt a sharp pain. This could indicate that he hit a nerve and I may be suffering from permanent nerve damage. Yes, I saw a neurologist. 9. Dr. Goerig was extremely condescending towards me when I went in for my follow up appointment. I am a masters student (science) and know how to review the medical literature. He wasn't interested in any of the research I had found. He offered no alternative explanation for my ongoing pain. I don't want to throw this entire practice under the bus. The other endodontists and staff were friendly. IF YOU MUST go here, please request one of the other doctors. Just because Dr. Goerig has the most experience doesn't mean he's the best.
