From the moment we entered, we were immediately greeted and welcomed with genuine and eager kindness. Our server, David, was knowledgeable and attentive and very happy to spend time helping us navigate our sushi decisions for the evening, checking on us frequently and never leaving us to question the status of our order. If there are any chef's specials offered, try them! If they're anything like what we got, you will not be disappointed. We each got one order of the chef's special for the evening: 6 individual pieces of tuna nigiri, each featuring a different cuts and preparation of tuna. The array of textures and flavors was incredible, and the fish was very fresh. Some were plain or lightly seared, some were topped with delightful sauces, and each one was its own world of flavor. My next favorite was the truffle salmon belly nigiri. It's flavorful and melts in your mouth. Each order comes with two pieces. Could have easily eaten more! We were happy with the spicy hamachi roll we ordered as well. You can taste the difference when sushi is freshly prepared with fresh ingredients. It's nice that you can see the sushi chefs at work just a few feet from your table, too. Every time they torched a piece of fish, the small restaurant fills with the most mouth-watering smell. Prices are not cheap - but very reasonable for the high quality. Gratuity is included - but earned and deserved. As locals, we were looking forward to trying Kuromon! We hadn't eaten restaurant food in a long time, I was tired of cooking and I worked all weekend, so we stopped at Kuromon last night while out for a walk. We were planning on ordering and taking the food to go. The restaurant had only one or two tables filled, so this was not a problem. The server was super friendly and the food was ready quickly. We had the following: Spicy Blue Crab Hand Roll Hamachi Hand Roll Spicy Tuna Roll Spicy Hamachi Roll Salmon Tiradito Pork and Shrimp Gyoza Verdict of the food: MEH. -Gyoza - I didn't try the gyoza because it had pork; Larry said it was a very small portion -Tuna and Hamachi rolls - tasted the same and were nearly all rice -Hamachi Hand Roll - I do not like hand rolls as they are difficult to eat neatly / share, but aside from logistics, this one was good! -Blue Crab Hand Roll - YUCK!!! The crab tasted like mud. I dislike crab though, so YMMV -Salmon Tiradito - very fresh and it came with an interesting passion fruit dipping sauce, but the order contained 5 tiny slices of fish The total came to $72 and we were still hungry after eating so I HAD TO COOK ANYWAY!!! I was actually pretty steamed all night; the point of spending money on restaurant food is to save me the work of cooking. So we spent money AND I cooked. Lose-lose. The interior of the restaurant is clean and fresh; the quality of the ingredients is good and the staff is super friendly, but the pricing is just way too high for what you get. The rolls were seriously not any better than Publix $5 sushi when the volume of rice is taken into account. We don't eat out much anymore so to try a new place and have it be disappointing is really a bummer. read more

I gave this place 2 stars and let me tell you why. First the food is excellent and high quality. One of the better sushi places on the beach. My server Johana was excellent. Very attentive and knew th menu well. Then why only 2 stars??? They add an automatic gratuity of 20% to the bill. This is not only illegal in this county, it is truly insulting. I'm a local but even if I was a tourist, I would not be happy with that. Sadly, I actually would have paid more to my server than 20% but that is my choice to do. Not to be forced to give. I recently tried Kuromon Sushi and overall had a really good experience. The food was definitely the highlight, the fish tasted very fresh and the sushi was well prepared with great flavor. You can tell they focus on quality ingredients and keeping the menu simple and honest. The ambiance is relaxed and cozy, making it a nice neighborhood sushi spot whether you're going for a casual dinner or a date night. Service was friendly and attentive throughout the meal. I had an incredible meal at Kuromon Sushi. Everything was incredibly fresh, thoughtfully prepared, and full of flavor. The way they blend Japanese technique with Peruvian flavors is truly special and feels intentional, not gimmicky. The real standout for me was the sashimi. Easily some of the best I've ever had. Each cut was pristine, perfectly seasoned, and let the quality of the fish shine. You can immediately tell how much care goes into sourcing and preparation. A special shoutout to Giovanni, the chef and owner, who personally came by to say hello and check in. That personal touch made the experience even more memorable and shows how much pride he takes in his restaurant. I went on a Thursday night and it was fairly quiet, which made for a relaxed, intimate dining experience. The service was also excellent. Attentive, friendly, and genuinely welcoming without feeling rushed. And do not skip dessert. The dulce de leche molten cake was unreal. Warm, rich, and the perfect way to end the meal. The sushi rice that they make has an amazing taste to it and it definitely elevates everything that already tastes good. Freshest ingredients and bold flavors that, in my opinion, you don't even really need to dip in soy sauce. If you're not a person who eats raw ingredients, they offer other stuff that are just as amazing especially their gyoza that is just so delicious and different than other places I've been to.
