    Cuban Coffee
    Anthony G.

Allison's Bar is the bar/restaurant located inside the Hilton Cabana Miami Beach. This was the hotel i was staying at, and I found myself in it a few times during my stay. The first time was one morning, my family and I were dead tired, and we needed some caffeine. We were pleased to find out that they made Cuban coffee and we ordered some. It was well made, but the price... was ridiculously high. $22 dollars for three little cups of Cuban coffee! Yeah this is way overpriced. Which is weird, their food is reasonably priced, and their drinks are expensive yes, but well within the price you find in any bar in Miami or Miami Beach. $22 dollars for Cuban Coffee though, that really was way too much! The inside of Allison's bar is nothing special. It looks like any hotel restaurant anywhere in the country, it's the bar/outside area that is wonderful. Lots of color, positively vibrant. The bar looks beautiful, especially at night with all the lights and colors. It also has a magnificent view of both the hotel pool and the beach. I hung out here for a bit with my bestie Apple S., when we spent one of the days together. It was wonderful to sit, chat and enjoy the company of my best friend, while enjoying the seabreeze as well. I also had drinks on a different occasion. The bar service was good, and the drinks were made well. Pretty much my only gripe was the insanely high cost for the Cuban Coffee. I just refused to pay that much again, if not I would have ordered much more of that!

Service was adequate and the atmosphere fun and bright. The empanada were absolutely spot on made with masa instead of flour with a pulled pork and potato filling and salsa and Chipotle aioli on the side. We ordered a mango daiquiri that went perfect with our happy. Loved our quick pre-music fest visit!

Food is average, service is okay, but prices are a bit high. The outdoor setting is pretty nice.

We ordered: - a burger with fries - a buttermilk bibb lettuce salad - ice cream with chocolate sauce Rating these three: - The burger was absolutely outstanding, delicious, very well made, absolutely amazing. - The ice cream with chocolate sauce was also pretty good. - The bibb lettuce salad was not my favorite at all. It was overly-drenched with dressing. The flavor was a little bit off, and I actually couldn't finish the salad, which was a smallish portion to begin with. Overall, I would definitely love to try Silverlake Bistro based on the food I tried at La Poubelle. I've heard so many great things about it, so I'd definitely give it a try.

Silverlake Bistro used to be our go-to neighborhood restaurant in Miami. It offered consistently…read moregood food, a welcoming atmosphere, and reasonable prices, making it an easy recommendation for friends and family. In fact, as my wife and I were walking in on our most recent visit, I was commenting that this would be a great place to bring out-of-town guests. Unfortunately, that opinion changed by the end of the evening. When the bill arrived, we learned that the corkage fee had increased from $25 to $35 without any notice. We politely explained that we were longtime customers who had always paid the longstanding $25 fee, but management was unwilling to make any accommodation or honor the previous rate. The increase itself did affect our perception. While $10 may not seem like a large amount, it represented a significant percentage jump for a neighborhood bistro, and it shifted the overall value equation for us in a noticeable way. What made it more frustrating is that a corkage fee increase feels different from a menu price adjustment. Rising food, labor, and operating costs can justify higher menu prices, but a corkage fee is simply a charge for opening and serving a bottle the customer brings in. Increasing it 40% without notice felt excessive, especially for a casual neighborhood restaurant rather than a high-end dining establishment. At $35, the corkage fee no longer feels aligned with the restaurant's positioning or value. Combined with the lack of transparency and the unwillingness to honor a long-standing rate for loyal customers, it meaningfully changed how we view the restaurant. The food was still very good, as it has been on previous visits. However, the overall experience left a sour taste. As a result, my wife and I won't be returning, and we will no longer recommend Silverlake Bistro to friends, family, or out-of-town visitors. That's a shame, because this was once one of the best reasonably priced neighborhood restaurants in the area. A relatively small change, handled differently, could have preserved our loyalty. Instead, it cost the restaurant two regular customers and future word-of-mouth recommendations.

We, of course, shared the spinach artichoke dip to start and our server anticipated our request and brought out additional chips and salsa for the table. I then enjoyed the kale salad with the yellowtail which was incredible. The fries with the special fry seasoning were fresh and crispy and paired well with the spicy aioli. My boyfriend loved his crispy chicken sandwich, which he orders every time we go to a Hillstone restaurant. The only not positive thing I have to share is that somehow there was a hair buried in our salt shaker, like mixed in with the salt. When i showed our server, he apologized, but did not do anything to correct the situation. We still had an excellent experience.

On top of that, they refuse to make even the slightest accommodation or deviation from the menu--none whatsoever. The food used to be very good here, but that's no longer the case. And whatever you do, don't order the crab cakes. While they contained very little filler, they had absolutely no seasoning and were completely tasteless. Save your money and go elsewhere.

Beef Wellington - - while I thought it was weird to order, SO glad we did. It was so tender and cooked perfect. They also cut it for you so you don't need to worry about it! The menu consists of well known dishes but there are no surprises - everything is cooked well and tasty but not memorable. The best dish is the Ceasar's salad which is prepared table side, using raw eggs (!) and is a must-order simply for the show. Everything seemed to order it. The crab cakes were very good - crispy crust and big chunks of crab with a spicy mayo on the side - worth it. Lumache Alla Vodka was also good, with the pasta cooked just right and a nice spicy kick to the sauce. The almonds on the European Sea Bass made the fish - toasted and slightly caramelized paired with a very good sea bass. Get it if you are in the mood. The oysters Rockefeller are simply ok but not worth reordering. The chocolate layer cake was also very good but not extraordinary and typically of any good pastry shop's version. Finally the service is what you would expect of a Michelin Star, which was precise and well executed although our waiter has a pretty bland personality compared to the guy serving the table next to us.

Happy hour clocks in at $12 for food, $12 for all house cocktails, $10 spritzes, and a flat $6 for all beer, which in Miami Beach feels almost suspicious in the best way possible. I kept it simple with an ice cold Peroni while my wife went for the Giardino 75, a gorgeous little spritz built on Empress Indigo Gin, St. Germain, mint, lime, and prosecco. She loved it. The color alone was worth the ten bucks, but it actually drank as good as it looked. For food we shared the Bolognese Grilled Cheese and let me tell you, this thing punches well above its $12 price tag. Thick cut brioche toast, griddled until the edges go deep golden brown, stacked over a rich slow simmered bolognese with cheese pulling through every bite. Dusted with parmesan and fresh herbs, plated with cherry tomato skewers that added a nice little pop of acidity. Comfort food dressed up for a night out. Service was attentive and easy, drinks came quick, plates came hot, and nobody made us feel rushed even sitting through happy hour. The room itself has that playful Sicilian energy with the Moor head planters and bright touches throughout, which fits the vibe of the menu perfectly. Would I make a special trip back to Miami Beach for it? Probably not from Fort Myers, but if you're already in the area during happy hour, this is one of the better values you'll find on the beach. Solid four stars. Good drinks, good food, great specials, and service that actually showed up.
