Having no way to reach him, I shotgunned calls to other dentists in the East Honolulu area and fortunately Dr. Weiss could see me that day. She took very good care of the emergency I had. Since then, Dr. Weiss has been taking excellent care of all my dental needs for the past few years. She is very knowledgable and addresses my dental issues with a high degree of professionalism and expertise. I am very comfortable with her being my dentist from here on out. So much so that I have recommended multiple family members to her. The waiting room, dental hygienist, and procedure rooms are all clean and much more modern than my prior dentist. Appointments have been on time and the front desk staff have always been nice to me. Also nice about this place is that they are located in the Kahala Mall professional building where there is ample free parking around the building and the mall. I dont know if Dr. Weiss is taking new patients at this time, but if she is and you are looking for a dentist, I strongly recommend giving her a try.

She trusted that his office would continue to give her the care that she received all those years. Well, she did not! She went in for a routine cleaning, they took xrays and Darren Wong did the exam. He told her that she needed a crown on her bottom right molar. She said she had no pain or discomfort or any issues with that tooth. He told her that she needed a crown because there were so many fillings on that tooth and it would crack. First of all if there is no cavity and patient has no problem what harm is there to have just monitored it? She comes in every 6 months. You can always check it every time. She trusted him and scheduled for the crown. They NEVER told her that the crown would not be covered. They NEVER even preauthorized it! Also, had they checked they would have known it would not be covered because there is a 6 month waiting period when you start a new job with the insurance. She comes in and while she is in the chair (for the procedure to start) someone comes in with an iPad and has her sign. She sees the $1700 and questions "is this with insurance?" They said "yes". She comes out to the front after the temporary crown was placed and a different person tells her that it's $1700 because her insurance didn't cover because of the 6 month waiting period! See!!!...she could have waited and then have 50% covered (She was not in any discomfort!). However after the tempoary crown was placed she was in pain for 2 weeks. She never had any pain until Darren decided to make money by putting a crown on a tooth that had no decay and was not bothering her with a reason of "it will crack". My sister in law should have been given the option to wait when it bothered her and for the insurance to cover 50%. They should have told her before scheduling her that her insurance did not cover the procedure. Just like the review from 12 months ago by Kay he just wanted money. I work and have worked with such reputable Dentist including Douglas Chang so I know what a bad one looks like....seriously, he lacks integrity!

The staff members seem professional, the dentists are friendly, and the space is clean. They also have ample parking, and are situated right next to a high end mall. Plus, the dental equipments they use are also pretty new. However, the 1-2 star reviews are ALSO valid. The way this dental office is run makes it feel more like a business than a medical practice. Like what other reviewers pointed out, there seems to be a frequent tendency for them to emphasize your need for higher level services. This is my second visit and twice, did the hygienist strongly recommend that I go through a 2-3 hour deep cleaning procedure - something that was never, ever suggested by other dentists. They also have a rather strong sales pitch. The way they approach you and communicate the "treatment plan" makes you believe that you are expected to move forward with what they recommend. And unless you really think about what they are selling... you will probably jump right ahead into what they suggest. When I go to a medical professional, I expect to be treated as a patient who is need of essential care. That means receiving only medically necessary interventions and nothing else. I am not a customer, and shouldn't be sold anything that I don't need.

The next tooth she filled was in the very back of the top of my mouth and she drilled too deeply to the nerve. I had pain in that tooth for over 3 years. When I went to see my old dentist in Boston, he told me NONE of those fillings needed to be replaced so besides causing me long term pain due to her incompetence, I was also out $4500. I will never go back to this dentist and cannot recommend her to anyone.

I have never felt so confident in my dentist and his team, I cannot thank Dr. Okuda for transforming my smile and for making me feel more confident. First off, the office is immaculate, clean and so well put together. The entire team is on it and are always attentive, present and genuine. Dr. Okuda's office staff and team are the best. They truly treated me like family, even when I first came into their office for a consultation. I never felt pushed to get any treatments, I felt like Dr. Okuda and his team were genuine from day one about what could make my smile better. Even after my procedure, Dr. Okuda encouraged me that just the small and slight tweak we did with my gumline was enough to transform my smile - and he told me in his honest opinion, that's all he'd want to do to improve my smile and to keep everything else for it made me "me". I also got into a horrible surfing accident earlier this year before proceeding with my procedure - Dr. Okuda had me immediately come in to examine my teeth and my huge lip laceration and he told me he'd prefer to wait until my laceration healed. Not only did he fit me into his busy schedule immediately, Dr. Okuda genuinely cared about my well being and didn't want to rush my procedure. Professionalism. Honesty. Kindness. And the best taste. I trust Dr. Okuda and would highly recommend him to any of my friends or family for any cosmetic dental needs and inquiries.

I was scheduled for 9:00 AM and was told over the phone that the consultation would be about an hour. I was expecting to meet with Dr. Wynn and discuss my concerns and treatment options directly with him. Instead, I spent almost two hours speaking exclusively with the practice manager and never actually got to meet or speak with the doctor. The practice manager was very friendly and talkative, which I initially appreciated because it made the environment feel comfortable. However, the appointment consisted of a LOT of stories about the philosophy of the office, and other patients and I felt like I left with less clarity than I expected from a cosmetic dental consultation. I originally went in primarily concerned about two teeth and was interested in exploring composite bonding, along with some whitening. During the conversation, I was told that I would need at least six veneers. I understand that a cosmetic dentist may have professional recommendations and that veneers may ultimately be the better option in some cases, but I'm not sure what qualifications or clinical assessment were being used to make that determination, especially since I had not yet been evaluated by Dr. Wynn. When I questioned why six would be necessary when I was originally concerned about two teeth, the explanation I was given was essentially that once you have two "perfect" teeth, you will start noticing everything else that is wrong with your smile, so it would be better to do everything at once. That explanation did not really address my concerns or explain why six veneers were clinically necessary for me. I had other questions and concerns about veneers in general, and some of the responses came across more like "well my veneers look great" rather than addressing my individual concerns as a patient. It felt like more of a sales pitch than an actual professional discussion. The pricing also made the experience more difficult. I was being quoted at least $12,000-15,000 for the veneers I apparently desperately need, along with an initial $2,200 for diagnostics, so I would have expected a consultation with the actual dentist and a clear clinical explanation of why that treatment was necessary before discussing such a significant financial commitment. Ultimately, I had to leave after almost two hours because I had somewhere else to be, meaning I never even got the opportunity to speak with the doctor I had scheduled the consultation with. I'm sure this office has many happy patients, and I appreciated the friendliness of the staff, especially the receptionist! However, based on my experience, I personally did not feel that the consultation met my expectations. I would have preferred a more focused appointment, less pressure around treatment choices, and most importantly, the opportunity to actually meet with and be evaluated by the dentist before being told what treatment I needed.
