They replaced the Rack and Pin. Assbly. along with two power steering hose. They also made a recommendation that a gasket and oil pan needed to be replaced. I drove it 8 miles and when I pulled into the Driveway smoke was coming out of the hood. About a 1.5 years ago I had a problem with the drivers seat not latching and staying upright. Tech Auto was recommended and Todd had it looked at and fixed it and didn't charge me anything. So when I had this problem with the smoke I had the car towed in. Todd told me the two power steering hoses were installed incorrectly and fixed that along with replacing all the power steering fluid. He also replaced an oil pressure switch which was wear the oil was coming from not a gasket or the oil pan. The radiator cap was missing and they found it down in the engine and replaced the coolant which was wear the smoke was coming from. I will never take my car anywhere else but to Tech Auto. Todd was HONEST, EFFICENT, AND HIS PRICES were very fair. Since this has happened I've told some people about my experience and I've gotten nothing but positive feedback from people I know that also have their car worked on at #TECH AUTO of Hamden 55 Connolly Pkwy.

Unlike other shops, John expressed concerned about gasoline-related hazards and our safety. Also, Carlos was nice to us and helped us set an appointment. So after setting an appointment, we brought our car in the morning and met John. John treated us like family from the start. He was very friendly and honest. Right away, he looked under the hood and explained to us what the problem was. He was patient with us and described fully what our issue was and what are options were. We needed to replace the Fuel Regulator. John tried to make it cost-effective for us and gave us a reasonable price. Although they had to order the part from Bridgeport, John got it quickly and worked on our car promptly. Our car issue was resolved and we are extremely happy! Finally, after having my car towed there for the second time, as arranged the day before, but hearing nothing 24 hours later, I called and was told simply and directly that my car's repair was "not a priority" for them. I understand that this shop has been beloved in Hamden for many years, but unfortunately something or somebody there must have changed. The interaction I had with the store manager, Brent (full name not provided), was discourteous, escalatory, and far below the level of professionalism expected from a Firestone representative--especially a store manager. On the day of my appointment, 11/22/25, I called in the morning to advise the store that I would be picking up the tires only and would not be needing installation, as the tires were purchased through my place of employment. I was not told this would be an issue during my call but that I could come at anytime. However, when I arrived, I was told I needed to speak to the manager. After waiting, the manager, Brent, informed me that he did not know whether I was "allowed" to simply pick up the tires due to my organization's contract. This was the first time anyone mentioned such a concern. When I asked how this could be confirmed, or why I was not informed earlier when I called, his tone became noticeably escalated and dismissive. I expressed that I simply wanted a good customer experience, as I could see he was becoming increasingly frustrated in both tone and manner. When I asked if there was someone above him I could speak with, he stated there was not. When I asked if there was a corporate office, he simply told me I could "call them," offering no additional assistance or clarity. My husband was present and witnessed the entire exchange. After Brent continued to escalate the situation, my husband intervened and asked what would be done today, stating he was not going to "go back and forth." Brent then retrieved the tires and threw them outside the establishment, clearly upset and making no effort to de-escalate or maintain basic customer courtesy. As he loaded the tires into my truck, I asked for his full name. He replied only "Brent," refused to provide his last name, and ended the interaction with "Have a good day and holiday," despite his behavior being in stark contradiction to respectful customer service. If Brent represents the standard of leadership in this store, then Firestone is failing its customers.
