Hi my name is larry Nero. I have been going to over the edge Automotive since 2007 for all of my vehicle repairs. In the past I have had certain events for instance my 2008 Honda CRV needed valve adjustment and brandfon Honda told me it would be $500 and that my struts were rotted out and wanted to know if I wanted to trade in my vehicle. I immediately left there and drove straight to over the edge where the valve adjustment was performed at $99 and I was told there was nothing wrong with my struts they probably just wanted my vehicle because it had a high trade-in value. I have had many vehicles that were deemed not fixable for instance I went to AAMCO Transmission in Branford and they told me the transmission was gone you could not be repaired. Again I went to offer The Edge automotive and the problem was remedied without a giant price tag. My most recent event was catalytic converters I was told it would be 1500 bucks by a reputable repair shop. Again having taken it to over the edge Automotive prove that not to be the case and it was just a sensor which was a fraction of that cost. And recently I was struck with a family crisis with my wife and my son in the hospital for weeks on end and I have no transportation but Jim mank from Over the Edge took care of things you got me back on the road right away. I recommend over the edge Automotive to anyone who wants to have their vehicle performing properly and you will probably make your money back the money you'll save on gas with a tune-up and a carbon clean. Just got back from my second visit at Over The Edge and had a second awesome experience. As a female, we are pretty much brought up being told to never trust mechanics. Having been f*cked over by a few personally, it's been a pretty justified lesson. However, I never feel taken advantage of at Over The Edge. Jim tells you what should be done now and what can wait, helping you stick to a budget. His other mechanic even told me what to have done at the same time to save on labor for my next visit. Good honest people over there. I won't go to anyone else. Needed new rotors, brake pads, control arms, and struts done. Dropped it off in the morning and it was done same day. read more

I was having transmission trouble with my 18 year old Camry. It has 255,000 miles on it. I went to my auto repair shop, which I have been going to for many years. They said I need a new transmission, which would have cost $3,000+. I wanted a second opinion, though I conceded to the fact that I probably did need a new transmission. I asked my coworkers who they take their cars to. They recommended Over The Edge. I took my car in and after a computer diagnosis, Jim came back saying that I a couple of solenoids were bad. He estimated about $350, which was a heck of a lot better than $3,000. The repairs were done and the cars been working fine ever since (knock on wood). Jim was very courteous and knowledgeable. I am disappointed that my old repair shop didn't even do a diagnosis to find out what the trouble was. I guess I found a new place to go. read more

Unlike these other reviewers, I did not have a good experience with repairs done at Over the Edge Automotive. I initially decided to take my car to this repair shop because it was relatively close to my work. This was very convenient to me, specially because the staff at Over the Edge was very accommodating, as they were willing to drop me off and pick me up from work, every time my car needed something done to it. This extra level of comfort was not worth all the trouble, frustration and money I spent at this shop: Pretty much everything that they touched in the car was not done properly and had to be redone (or I left broken because I did not have enough money to repair the damage that they managed to make). Here is a list of repairs done and their outcomes: -Replaced water pump: No issues, still working properly. -Replaced handle of glove compartment: Glove compartment opens and closes, but cannot be locked. -Replaced passenger side dashboard air vent: The air vent was not installed properly and keeps coming off the panel. - Replaced left window bezel: Installed properly, but they manage to break the doorframe underneath the bezel (at least they told me that they had broken it and glued it back together). - Replaced manual shifter cover: The entire shifter (not just the cover) was replaced. The original shifter was "thrown away" (i.e. it was not given back to me). In the process they manage to break the panel surrounding the shifter, which I paid to be replaced. The panel was not installed properly and, as a result, the panel pieces surrounding the cigarette lighter have come apart and fallen behind the panel. - Replaced door latches' micro-switches in the rear doors: One day after the repair was done, I noticed that the back doors would not open (i.e. they damaged the door lock mechanism). After taking the car back, they fixed the issue for free. Because this repair was done during the winter, I did not attempt to open the back windows for a few months. At Spring, when I tried to lower the windows, I noticed they were not installed correctly. The windows make a terrible noise, as if they are catching on something inside the door. Because this issue has not being fixed, the back windows are unusable (I'm afraid that, if I lower them, they may stop working all together). I hope this review helps others. read more

I brought my 1996 miata in for an alignment. My car is quite low with aftermarket coil over suspension. They handled it without a problem after four other shops either said no, initially agreed and let me wait for more than an hour to say no, or said yes, but it would be poorly done because they are not equipped to deal with aftermarket suspension despite saying they could over the phone. Either way, sometimes you have to understand what a bad shop is to appreciate a good one. In this case, Over the Edge took care of business. I could potentially say "It was a long wait." and downgrade them for that. However, a busy shop is a good shop. If you are looking for quick, then pay no heed to my review because I prefer quality over speed. I brought my laptop, connected to wifi, and had a grand time surfing the internet. They also have automotive passion. The decor is hilariously appropriate. Few spots do not have some type of vehicular memorabilia clinging to the walls. Quite a few nifty cars are in the parking lot and it is clear that these fellows appreciate cars enough to make it their livelihood. Either way, I gave it five stars because I left with what I wanted at a fair price. read more

I came in with a last minuet emergency repair and Jim Mank made sure the vehicle was back to me with in 24 hours even after finding an extra problem.
