I had an amazing experience buying a truck from Kyner's Auto. I bought the truck that was advertised on the Internet and without seeing it until it was delivered to me 700 miles away. My new truck is better than advertised and was delivered looking virtually brand new (it is a 2017 Toyota Tacoma). They arranged for shipping using their own vehicle carrier and took my trade-in back to Chambersburg. Their back-office staff that took care of the paperwork was outstanding - prompt, pleasant, and knowledgeable. I have bought new cars from Cadillac and Mercedes dealers in the past and my overall experience with Kyner's Auto was as good, if not better than those dealers. read more

I'm gonna start off with saying the sales department is phenomenal. That staff is like talking to a family friend. They're very welcoming, helpful, and kind. The service department is a different story. I'm 18 years old and decided it was time to buy myself my first car when the car I was using took a dump. I bought a 2020 Hyundai Ioniq Hybrid off of Brandon at the sales department. He is a great guy and was very kind. When I took the vehicle home it was a smooth ride which my mom drove behind me the whole way. I was going to a friend's house to dog sit and when I went to open the back door behind the drivers seat when the door handle broke off and scuffed the pavement. I was bewildered and upset because I had just taken home a broken car. That night my mom messaged Brandon to let him know what happened and even sent him a picture. He gave me the number to set up an appointment to have it get looked at. This morning was my appointment at 9am. I didn't have school but I had spent the night at my boyfriend's house after going to school and working late. I left this morning later than I intended and was running 5 minutes behind. I wasn't dressed my best since it was early in the morning, so I didn't have makeup on and was wearing my pj pants and my boyfriend's hoodie. I had arrived at 9:05 when I walked in. It was a ghost town and I had no idea what direction to head to get someone to assist me. I found someone in the sales department (again very kind and nice), and they told me where to go. I walked up to the window and the very first thing to come out of this man's mouth was "did you get enough sleep?". I was shocked. I'm newly an adult and trying to navigate this newfound independence one step at a time. I didn't know if his remark was based on how I looked or if it was because I was running behind. I said sorry and explained that I wasn't aware of the right spot to be in. He responded with saying that the sales department should have directed me where to go when I bought the car and then asked for my keys. I sat in the lounge when a different guy had me take him out and show him the problem. He asked about the scuff marks and if I hit anything. I let him know that there was no incident and it had always looked like that. The door handle since I had this car had not once worked properly so I don't know what the handle looked like before hitting the cement. They came back with a quote much bigger than anticipated and claimed they could not help with the cost since it was from outside damage. Again, the door handle had not once worked properly since the vehicle came off their lot. My mom disagreed with their resolution since she had been there for the whole journey with this car. She had talked to Brandon about their condescending remarks and their response to the issue. Brandon said if anything they could split it with us. He then said they'd call my mom later that afternoon. Instead they decided to call me directly. Although i'm hard headed i'm no expert in the car department. I go with the flow and hardly challenge the experts in this field. I have a feeling the service department knew this and decided to call the younger individual involved. I talked to different guy and he was no help. He agreed that there was nothing I could do and i'm at fault for the broken handle. It is now still my responsibility even though it had been broken this whole time. As for the customer service I received he said he will talk to the man with the horrible attitude. I had reached out Kyner's on Saturday 8/3/24 through the text system about the 2006 Jeep Wrangler Sport that was posted for sale on the site. David called me within minutes and let me know the Jeep was a mechanics special, and told me it would need a caliper and hose for the R side, the valve cover was leaking, and would need new front brakes before winter. I told David that I would think about it and let him know if we were still interested. After, talking with my husband and reviewing the cost of parts, labor and repair I texted David and let him know we were interested in coming to look at the Jeep and that we would be up Monday morning around the time they opened. The Jeep was for my 16 year old daughter who wanted it as a first vehicle. My daughter and I arrived Monday morning around 9am to Kyners (they opened at 8:30am). We were greeted by Brandon, I explained to him that I had spoke with someone about the Jeep and that we were there to look at the Jeep. We walked inside with Brandon and he contacted David to see how far away he was from the lot. David said he was only about two minutes out, but was about 7-10 minutes out. No big deal. When he shows up, he rushes in the door, doesn't even greet us or introduce himself, and just picks up with keys and says lets go look at this thing. My daughter and I follow him out the door and we walk to the Jeep. Now, yes I'm a woman with a 16 year old daughter, but I grew up around mechanics, and cars are one of my favorite hobbies. When looking at a used car or even a new one I know certain things to look for. The first thing I notice with this Jeep is that there is no emissions sticker on it, so I ask David that I notice no emissions so does it need something? David proceeds to tell me that emissions AREN'T required in PA. I responded with "Um, we live in Cumberland County so it is required in Cumberland County where we live." He responds with "well it's not required where I live." I let this one slide, but it's already not a good experience. Next, he opens the Jeep door and tries to start the Jeep and the battery is dead. He says I will have to go get a battery pack and we will have to jump. (okay so another item to add to the list of things that we will have to invest in for the vehicle). My daughter and I are walking around this Jeep, crawling under it looking for rust, etc. The necessary things with a used vehicle that should be checked out. I ask David if we can lift the hood so I can check some things, and he says absolutely. As I'm pulling the oil dipstick out he advises me that all the fluids will of course need to be changed. I then advised David that I am checking the oil for anti-freeze. That if the oil has a clear color to it that it means the anti-freeze has leaked into the oil. He just replies with "oh". Oil had a purple tint to it though, which I have never seen, so not sure what would cause that. David gets a battery pack, connects it to the battery and tries starting the Jeep right away. It of course does not start right away, so we let it charge about 5-10 minutes, while I'm still inspecting parts of the body. After charging it did start up, and I ask David how long the Jeep has been sitting in their lot. He proceeds to tell me only a week or two. Again, this is a lie because I have been watching the Kyner site weekly as we have been looking for a car for the last 4-6 months. This Jeep has been on their lot for a month or more, and was just price dropped by $1k last week on their site, because they couldn't sell it. The last thing I point out to David is that there is a good bit of rust on the gas tank, almost to the point where the gas would soon be leaking through it. Again another part that would need to be replaced, which isn't a cheap repair. David asked where the rust was, I tell him and he proceeds to tell me that's where the spare tire and jack are and he tries lifting up the cloth material in the back of the Jeep to show me. Honestly, at this point I was done, and so was my daughter. As almost anyone knows the spare tire and jack are both on the back of the Jeep. Now my daughter has worked hard to save up for a vehicle she wanted, and was paying all cash for her vehicle so no financing. I ask David "Would you be willing to take $7k cash for the Jeep?" Price on the Jeep is currently $8900 before taxes and tags. Now remember it needs many repairs at this point, which would range anywhere from $2k-$4k at this point. David proceeds to tell me he would check but he most likely would not be able to do this because this Jeep is easily worth $10k or more. I said not with all those repairs it is not. On Kelley Blue Book Private Party (I know this is different than a business but still) the Jeep needing all these repairs is only worth $5400. Needless to say on our way home we found a super nice 2006 BMW x5 that my daughter bought instead for $4500. Call it a blessing in disguise read more

This a completely backwards establishment. I have bought quite a few cars from them over the years, the last time being one year ago. I bought an older car for my son who was turning 16. It had a new inspection and low mileage they said it was a good car. My son never ended up driving it and it sat in our carport for the year, barely putting 100 miles on it. We decided to sell it after the next inspection and I took it in this week and they cited $1000 worth of repairs that it needed. This means either they are lying about what it needs or they SOLD it to me knowing it had these problems. It was good enough to pass an inspection when they owned it and not good enough after I bought it. When I brought this up they denied selling it to me and said they had no records of it. I purchased my Jeep, I immediately brought to their attention that there was issues with the door mechanism. They told me there was nothing to worry about and they would fix it. A few months later, the door handle wouldn't open on the inside but after being put through to Sean, Kyners refused to address the issue. Later whenever they offered me a discounted inspection, they found almost $2,000 worth of issues that needed fixed. I got a second opinion from another garage and passed inspection just fine. I have gotten 2 cars from here and they both have had electric problems. I got a warranty on my 2nd car, and the ac stopped working. Took is to the service department at the dealership and at first they said it was the blower motor then it was something with the main ac unit they weren't comfortable fixing. They said it was free then came back with my keys telling me it was fixed, said they reset the system and it may go out again. They charged me 75$ because they held a button down for 2 mins. When I got in the car I'm stopped working just as fast as it turned back on. The warranty I got said it covered everything and they will still find a way to charge for something. read more

Not only will this dealership not make it right, they want me to trade in the same vehicle for double the price. That's how they want to make it right. This place is an absolute joke. My husband and I also have test drive multiple vehicles including a newer Escalade and the motor was making a ticking sound. STAY FAR AWAY from this place. Nothing but motor issues on all vehicles purchased here but you will also have to deal with the dickhead Derek the sales manager who has done nothing but tell my parents "well with todays market" we were cash paying customers and will gladly be taking our business elsewhere. I am disappointed! (This is going to be a long post.) 2 weeks ago I bought a used 2011 Nissan Versa from Kyner's Auto Sales in Chambersburg, PA. It had 127K miles, was priced moderately, and drove well on the test drive. It had a clean car fax and Consumer's Reports said the Versa is a reliable car in their buyers' guide. We were assured that it had passed Kyner's quality inspection before being placed out on the lot for sale. Because it had over 100K miles, it was sold "as is." We were offered a warranty on the car for an additional $1500. That would have put it out of our price range--and thinking that a car with such low mileage should be ok we bought it. It did well for the first week. Last week while driving to Winchester on I-81, it hit 4000 revs on the tachometer and wouldn't come down. The engine light came on. Took it to Auto Zone to pull the codes and they pointed to the transmission. Took it to a Master Nissan Mechanic, he also pulled the codes and gave us the bad news. We need a new transmission. My daughter called and talked to Kyner's general manager who told her that if they knew that it had a bad transmission, they would have not put it of the lot for sale, they would have sold it wholesale for a lot less. They towed it up to their shop (which was nice of them) pulled the codes and offered to replace the transmission with a used one with 50K miles on it. Their estimate was less than a new transmission but we would still have to pay for it. They said you should have bought the warranty for $500. (that's not the price quoted to us originally) There were so many conflicting stories told to us. It would have been the honorable thing to have offered to help with the cost since their mechanics clearly missed doing a thorough check on the car. Our mechanic said that the codes would have shown up had they checked. I realize that the buyer must beware. This company seemed so trustworthy and reliable, I felt comfortable buying from them. Very sad and much wiser, I was wrong. Today we dropped the Versa off to the Master Mechanic who has been working on my daughter's Nissans for years. He has proven himself honest and excellent over the years. It will be fixed with a newly rebuilt transmission with a 12 month warranty that covers all parts and labor. Master Nissan Mechanic, Billy Reagan, at Ridgeway Auto Center will be doing the work. I told the general manager that I was disappointed and that I could not recommend Kyner's to anyone after this. After all the repairs I had to pay for were complete (Kyner's claimed 3 times nothing was wrong with the heads, I had to rebuild the damn engine) I sunk around $10k into repairs alone. NOTE: Our experince with Kyner's occurred about 3 years ago. When we moved to PA from living for a few years in Florida, we came with just one car. Our other was in too rough of shape to drive the 1,000 miles without serious work. So, we went car shopping shortly after arriving. We went to Kyner's after seeing a Jeep on their website that looked mighty fine. Kyner's has a lot to choose from, and they only sell used cars. When we arrived, we were quickly met by a salesman, as you'd expect. We went over the vehicle with him for awhile, then he went to get the keys. He handed them to my husband and told him to go ahead and drive around the lot to see how it feels. If we wanted to go out on the road, to let him know as he'd have to go with us. We did all that, spent time going over the vehicle. It had some cosmetic issues that were of some concern about additional wear. Our salesman assured us that if we purchased it, those would be fixed, complimentary, before we picked it up. After going home and some thought, we returned to purchase. We wanted the price to come down, it was over our budget. It took a little work, but we managed to lower it enough to feel a little better about still being over budget. The process of purchasing didn't take all that long, and was fairly easy. The purchase agreement included fixing some paint problems, especially on the front bumper which looked like the previous owner had plowed through a stone field. There was also a tear in the front seat (leather), a tiny chip in the windshield, and a few other paint problems. We had to wait a few more days to pick up the vehicle, but that was of no complaint. The day we picked it up, they filled the tank full with gas, nice gesture. The issues appeared to have all been fixed except for the tiny windshield chip, which they were fixing that day. Everything looked good. Now that it's been a few years since purchasing it, I don't feel quite as good about buying from Kyner's. I know when you buy a used car, it doesn't matter how honest or good the dealer is, you never really know what you're getting. However, when they fix cosmetic issues and not long after that, they look bad again, it makes you wonder. The front bumper looks horrible again, whatever they did to "fix" the paint didn't last. It feels like they just made it look good to make us happy. A couple of things my husband had asked about in regards to minor mechanical workings were either not addressed, or they'd lied to us about having checked it out and/or fixed it. We found those out later. Kyner's offered free state inspections and discounted service when you buy from them, so the next year we took the Jeep there for state inspection and oil change. I wouldn't call that experience stellar, nor would I call it poor. It was adequate. We got what we paid for... We haven't taken it back for anything. I don't want to say I'd never purchase from them again, because I do feel they price fairly for the most part, and make the buying process pretty good. However, I feel their service department has a few shady corners and I don't fully trust it all. I wish I could give it a 2.5, 3 seems like too much and 2 seems like too low. Now that we've bought a used car elsewhere, I feel Kyner's fell a little short. read more

But in the last year I have found the rotors were completely rusted and had to be changed rotors don't rust that quickly. I wanted to bring my car in for my free inspection but there service hours make it very difficult to get in there so I just took it to a place that stayed open later and paid the 30 bucks. read more

I went to purchase a 2003 Mini at Kyner's. I drove the car and the suspension was a disaster. They told me before I drove it that the car was noisy. It wasn't just a noise, the car had lowered suspension and whenever you'd hit ANY bump, the suspension would bottom out and the car would jump sideways every time. In short, it was dangerous. I went back to the dealership and tried to deal on the price, because other than the suspension, I liked the car. They refused to come down. They tried to get me to pay 800$ for the repairs ON TOP of the the price. Upon review of the documents, I saw that they had also raised the price of the car $1000 above the internet listed price. This occurred conveniently after I said I had $1000 for a downpayment. So, I told them I wouldn't buy the car, but if they fixed it I would drive it again and think about it. I was told I would hear from them in two days. After 5 they never called. I called back, having found a different car and requested my $100 deposit back, which my Salesman Tyler said he would refund. Tyler was a nice guy, and I liked dealing with him. But the service manager is a totally awful person. You do not want to deal with him, trust me. I've been buying used cars for 20 years, and I've been thru this process about 10 times. I have NEVER been treated with so much disrespect in my life when buying a car. The experience with my other dealer was fantastic. So buying a used car doesn't need to be so terrible. My husband and I drove about 90 minutes from home to look at a car for our 16 year old daughter. We called first to be sure the car we saw online was still there. Our salesman Mike was honest with us about the issues with the car on the phone - we took a chance and went to see it. We didn't end up buying that car, but bought a different vehicle from their lot. They have tons of cars st various price points and they seem to price the vehicles fairly in comparison to Kelley Bluebook. Mike was very kind to our daughters and was funny and engaging with my husband and me. He seemed to answer questions as honestly as he could and didn't seem to feed us any lines of donkey dust! We greatly appreciated Mike's assistance and would definitely go back when it's time for our younger daughter to start driving in a few years. read more

I bought a 2015 Kia Sorento from Kymers Auto Sales through an online ad. When we went to pick it up we found that the owners manual, cargo cover, and one of the two FOBs that originally came with the car was missing. None of this was disclosed in their online ad. Pat Lindsey, the salesman, said he would provide me an owners manual. The cargo cover and replacement FOB ended up costing me almost $400. After waiting many weeks and calling and leaving two messages with Mr, Lindsey, and talking to their sales manager, who promised to follow up, I never received the manual. I finally gave up and bought a replacement manual online. I would suggest that you DO NOT buy a car from this company online. read more

Extremely rude, started off by basically telling us not to waste his time showing us a car we weeds interested in if we weren't going to buy. We planned on going home with a car that day. But after his attitude I refused. I drove over an hour and when I had told him we could resume on Monday because I was going to be late for work, he basically said the deal is as stands and he has too much to do to come in on his day off to make a sale. I bought a 2008 BMW 328i around July 7th, 2018. A few days after purchasing the vehicle, we noticed a little shaking in the engine. I wasn't too concerned, but a few days after that the car stopped in the intersection. I live 50 miles away from Kyner's, so I took the vehicle into my mechanic. I wasn't worried about making Kyner's pay for the damages. It was a used car and fairly old, so figured there would be issues and I may need to put a little money into the car. I was hoping it wouldn't be less than a month owning the vehicle, but oh well. The mechanic read the faults and said it was a CamShaft sensor issue. That set me back almost $500. I was bummed, but wasn't overly mad about the issue, I was just happy to be able to drive it again. A few days after getting the car fixed, the same issue started happening again. I was now a little more concerned, but again, I just took the vehicle into my mechanic because it was stalling out in the intersection and I wasn't going to drive it 50 miles. My mechanic took a deeper dive into the issue and performed more tests. Found out the last people to change the oil lost the cap and the car wasn't getting enough oil pressure, which caused the cam shaft to fail and continued to cause issues. At this point, I was now mad because Kyner's auto was the last people to change the oil. Once I found this out I contacted their service department and spoke with Shaun. He was less than helpful and had an attitude that it was my fault because I didn't contact Kyner's first. Uh no! It was your fault for not changing the oil properly. Basically Kyner's doesn't stand behind their service. Worst dealership I have ever had to deal with and now I am seeking legal advice against them. Take your money elsewhere. They are sneaky sales people and super nice until they need to be held accountable and all the sudden, they are as slimy as they come. read more

I have had nothing but great success at Kyner's Auto Sales. I have purchased two vehicles from Kyner's and my wife has purchased one. My first purchase was a 2008 Subaru Outback back in 2010 with 80K miles on it. I finally traded it in as our family is growing and retired the Subaru at 215K with everything still running excellent. I upgraded to a Toyota Highlander through Kyner's with 80K and hoping for the same results. The staff is great and are very knowledgeable. Will go to bat for you as long as you don't go overboard and expect things no dealership would do. Nice perks when you buy from Kyner's as well. Can't beat a $10 oil change. My husband and I recently purchased a used car from Kyner. The car was for our college age daughter and was reasonably priced. After purchase the check engine light came on and I contacted Kyner. They diagnosed the problem as the oxygen sensor, but this issue was not covered by the extended warranty we bought. I complained to the owner and the problem was fixed, no charge. I also noticed that several safety recalls were open and I contacted Kyner again. They graciously told me to drop off the car and they drove it to Jennings to be repaired. I believe in the world of used car dealers, this dealership rises to the top for their honesty and excellent customer service. I would not hesitate to purchase another car from them. read more

He worked with us on our trade in (not in the greatest shape might I add) and to get us the best deal. He was patient with us given how quickly we needed to have the car in our possession and how far our bank was located in relationship to the dealership.
