We stopped by on a recent weeknight, toward the end of chilly night for a pot of tea and a dessert! You can choose from any of their tea offerings for an in-house pot! We loved this option! They also offer single servings of all sort of teas and coffee drinks! They offer a quaint little area to enjoy your treats if you'd like to stay for a visit with a friend! There is also a nice outdoor seating area for when the weather is nice! The dessert case is truly something to behold - so many wonderful looking treats! Looking for coffee or tea!? Come here to get your fix! They offer plenty of tea options. I got an ice coffee with a pump of caramel-a little too sweet for my taste buds but over all good. I did enjoy the carrot cake-it was just right and not too sweet. The cream on top though a bit too much. I'd love to try their teas next time. Plenty of parking. When you walk in it's like a cute shop full of coffee and tea items, and then as you walk in more you see the service counters. There are so many delightful treats! Cakes! Cookies! Candies! All sorts of hot and cold tea and coffee drinks. I tried a tea latte called All That Jazz. It was pretty good! I also got the last slice of tiramisu and I felt pretty lucky about that! There are tables and chairs to sit in, and there is a cute outdoor porch like area with trees around it. It's on westnedge but the deck felt like it was more secluded. The staff were friendly and helpful and the drinks came out in a timely fashion. I'd recommend coming here to meet a friend and chat. It was the perfect place. I bet it would be nice to do work or study, too. read more

This place is an EXCELLENT hidden spot in Portage. Parking can be TIGHT as it is located in a shopping complex. Walking in there's it legit gives me Professor Snape's potion class covers literally, there are 3 big walls with just rows upon rows upon rows of various teas. Fruit, dark, light, green, Asian, caffeinated etc. You pick a flavor and you scoop it, and boom! There you go! Very nice place, and I'm shocked I haven't been here more! They're really nice inside, even to the tea-rookie like myself. They'll let you smell and look at the loose teas they sell. The service is spotty-seems like they have a lot of turnover and the experience ordering items seems a bit chaotic on the times I've been there. Was exploring and found this shop. It's small but seems to be a popular spot. I got a build your own gift box of chocolates for my friend and a Thai Tea with Boba for me. I love going to Chocolatea! The workers are very sweet and helpful, especially if you don't know what to get! There's so many options for drinks, as well as food. I usually get the macrons, and I've never had a bad experience with them being stale! I planed on stopping here all week to get my wife some really good candy for easter. I've been a customer for several years now so I was a bit surprised. Absolutely obsessed with Chocolatea was my favorite spot all through college, and I still go every time I'm in kzoo! We got the Matcha Made in Heaven -- a valentines matcha with strawberry and white chocolate. So good, would definitely get it half sweet next time. Their selection of loose leaf tea is very diverse and are all tasty (as long as you steep them at the correct temperature... tea temp matters). Their staff is always super sweet. This place provides a quaint atmosphere with unique tea, chocolate and coffee offerings. I love to support local small businesses. However, today I was extremely disappointed with my experience. It was very busy, which I was happy to see. I purchased a canister of tea and 3 gift cards. My total bill came to almost $70. I asked the staff member if I could please have a hot cup of water. The staff member stated that I would still have to pay full price for a cup of tea. The owner was standing next to the staff member. As a small business owner myself, I was in disarray that after spending almost $70, they were unwilling to give me a cup of hot water. I asked for it less sweetened, but I feel like the white chocolate & peppermint were still very forward (in a good way). They steep their tea lattes fresh so it might take a little longer but it's worth it! So I was intrigued by something when I went here. I get lots of raving reviews on the bubble tea. It was my original intention to get a cup. But I was detoured by chocolate covered chips. I got a little sack of them because I was like I have got to try this. There's no way I'm leaving without seeing what this is about. I have never eaten chips this fast before. The bag barely got home with me and I don't even think I took a picture of them lol they were the perfect amount of sweet and salty. Sometimes I'm not too adventurous with food. I love this place more than I can put to words. My visit last night was no exception. We were in town shopping for supplies and wanted a nice dinner to go and decided one of my favorite little stores was on a must visit, after all Evan hadn't had a chance yet to see all the confectionary goodness. I finally remembered to check in and got a $1.00 off a delicious sweetened matcha and got to speak to the fantastic and really genuinely nice owner and by the end of my trip I felt as if I was saying goodbye to a new friend. Besides my tea I had a cookie dough brownie which was out of this planet good. My husband had a lemon cookies and my son went big with a slice of Oreo pie. I tried the Matcha, Black Taro, Avocado, Pistachio, and the Brown Sugar Tiger Stripes. We also tried their Caramel apple pie bar. What a fun little tea house! We stopped in for a cup and a sweet. The walls are stocked with fun tea accessories and lots of loose teas. There's also a case full of chocolates, a case of pastries, and a bar where you can order hot and cold beverages. We tried the explorer tea and Russian teacake. The tea was great and that teacake was perfect -very dense, crumbly, rich, and flavorful. It was the perfect accompaniment to tea. Deanna was so helpful and friendly, as was everyone we talked to. If you're on a diet, keep at least 1,000 feet away from this place. Giant selection of amazing chocolate treats, and they have great coffee. Loose tea inventory is huge. The place great in so many ways and I wish I had discovered them earlier. A great sitting location by the portage river, and a place equally good for tea, coffee and non caffeine drinks. Espresso machhiato is always perfectly made even though its off the menu, they come out good everytime. Try it if you are a coffee connoisseur. They have nearly 100 varieties of black and green teas that you can shop as well as drink. The bhakti chai is the best in my opinion among tea lattes and will wake you up on a cold gloomy morning. The desserts are not as great as the drinks, but they are acceptable. The sandwiches at the cafe, come with a fruit on the side which is unique. They got Boba and herbal teas. Their candy collection is also pretty unique. Also I just get a feel that the staff is passionate about what they do and it reflects in their service. read more
