This is a small outpost of Laderach that is a little less fancy than the one on 5th Avenue. They have most of the same stuff, just in a smaller space. The staff is okay and the chocolate is just as good. It's dangerous having this so close to my apartment. If you're in midtown and need a quick chocolate pick-me-up or a nice gift, this is a great option. It's pricey but sometimes you need to treat yourself. read more

Happened to stop by after a lovely lunch with the Mister, and the visit didn't disappoint. The older gentleman at the chocolate display case was very welcoming with his demeanor; it was a good choice to have him to hold down the delicious fort. It's a smaller store compared to the 5th Ave spot but it's an oasis for those who seek an chocolate break. Bought a couple tubes of the chocolate sticks and a box of truffles. Set me well over $100, but I suppose it's worth it since you're getting quality chocolate. The tubes offer their bestsellers supposedly but I could go without the regular chocolate. Next time I visit I'll be straight up getting bags of the fancy stuff by the pound! read more

I stopped by due to convenience for Christmas shopping. Service was so-so at this location and chocolate bar didnt look well kept. I asked for a 1/4 lb of two flavors and the counter person just grab chunks without measuring and charged me the total of what was already broken pile/left in the open. Didn't look like chocolate was cared for/scratched up/not fresh. Didn't ask me how I wanted it packed just put both flavors in the bag. Didn't feel welcoming either with the guy at the door passing out samples. The best locations I feel are their 5th Avenue or Lexington shops. No thank you and have a good holiday! I had to say it to him.... didn't make me feel justified for spending $60/lb the cost of this chocolate; felt like a regular Hershey's chocolate shop. read more

Laderach is one of the best chocolate I've ever had, and I am a HUGE chocolate lover. First tried their dark chocolate almond- WOW. Silky dark chocolate which is so smooth. Sweetness is perfect. And the crunch of the almonds adds perfect texture. Now they have a new vegan line with cashew milk based chocolate. Just tried the cashew milk hazelnut bar and cashew bar- both amazing. Also tried the dark chocolate pistachio. The sample vegan pack is perfect for trying out different flavors! It just tastes so good. Laderach does chocolate RIGHT. It is a little pricey at $14 per 0.25 pound. The vegan sampler pack of 10 small bars came out to $33. But wow it is so worth it if you really want to treat yourself to some luxurious chocolate. I am not sure any other chocolate will compare after this. :) read more

Swiss chocolates are my best besides See's Candies. When I saw Laderach, I just had to go in and get some. There are so many flavors that I couldn't choose, so I got a piece of everything. I love Swiss chocolates and can't help it if I am an indecisive person. Once you tried these chocolates, you will agree that they are delicious. Sweetness is mild. You can taste the chocolate and the nuts are fresh. It's $55.60 a pound. The bag in the picture is about $20. Well worth it. The sales associate is patient, knowledgeable and has impeccable service. A little bald man who gives out free samples near the door offered me a piece of chocolate the size of a quarter when nobody was in the store while he's holding a platter filled to the top with big pieces. I asked for a piece on top that had the most nuts. He refused. I was ready to spend a few hundred dollars because the chocolate is a big hit in my company. They offer tastings of their Swiss chocolate creations. Chocolate bark (FrischSchoggi) and truffles. Had 2 types of their bar--one with hazelnuts and milk chocolate, and the other one described in the photo. Both were delicious! Expensive at $55/lb, but this ain't your mass produced chocolate. Sampled a few options, based on the recommendations of the friendly woman behind the counter, but went with two I didn't try: the milk chocolate corn flakes and the dark chocolate with almond-praline topping. These were nice -- good chocolate, for sure. But not mind blowing by any means, and I sort of wish I'd stuck with the hazelnut or cashew. I'll stop with the Caps now, but really that's how excited I am about Laderach. The chocolate is pure quality. It's smooth, rich without feeling over-indulgent, and the perfect level of sweetness where you want more without feeling nauseous. Favorites include the nut trio, the hazelnut, and so far all of the pralines have been incredible. ALL of their locations are so friendly. Our entire family is a fan of the chocolate - 2year old to 42 year old. I have yet to try something here that isn't made well. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful! I came looking for chocolates for my partners 99 year old grandma who can't eat a lot of things! Oct. 3 around 6:30 pm. Went inside store and this Cesar person who was in front dusting off their displays just looked at us stone faced, did not even greet us and never asked us if we needed assistance. Then i asked for a free sample and he looked at me with a disgusted face as if I were asking him to give me something that was not standard for them to offer. It was clear that he did not want to help us. He was, in my mind, already profiling us that we were not going to buy anything - when the reason we went out of our way to enter the store, is to buy some of the block chocolates! That Cesar person was the rudest retail employee I've ever interacted with. If he's having a bad day, don't take it out on customers willing to buy over $50 worth for a few pieces of chocolates! Good thing, a supervisor stepped in to assist us or we would have just walked out. That Cesar doesn't deserve to be on the front line. He should work at a back office where he wont get a chance to offend anyone but himself! read more

Have been to Läderach in Zurich several times because they are the BEST chocolate in the world! Imagine my surprise and delight in finding them in NYC on our visit here. Today we went to the store on 7th Ave at 50th. I wanted to review the staff more than anything because there's really nothing more I can say about the quality of chocolate. The two women who were helping customers were delightful! Very warm, friendly and professional. The epitome of fantastic customer service.
