Luis was recommended by my vet, who had nothing but good reports from all her clients who had used L & A. He was busy, so it was a few days before Luis got here, right on. time. He is totally terrific and totally. honest. He educated us about our problem. Unfortunately our house is so wide open in so many ways to rat infestation that he said he wouldn't mislead us, telling us that he could permanently solve our problem. What he did do is point out all the thing we could do to make the situation better for ourselves and worse for the rats. He was willing to discuss everything, told me to stop. wasting my money on junk remedies, and explained a lot about how the rats operate. Even though I've been practically hysterical since. I discovered just how bad the infestastion is, Luis didn't take advantage of my hysteria by making false promises that wouldn't work. Despite a good first impression, disappointed and let down with the lack of professionalism. We had L&A Termite and Pest do our termite inspection for our new house. We were incredibly impressed with the customer experience and professionalism of Luis. We brought L&A back to complete the termite work once we moved in, and again - thoroughly impressed with the work. So impressed that we decided to go with L&A for routine/ongoing general pest prevention and maintenance. We scheduled a visit for Friday afternoon about two weeks in advance, but nobody showed. Not even a call to cancel. I sent an email to Allie that evening, expecting a call on Monday, once the business opens again. Nothing. I called on Tuesday to ask what happened and was told that the boss is out of town and they don't know what happened. If it stopped there with an apology and a solution, I would have been fine rescheduling. Unfortunately it became a bit unprofessional rather fast. I was told by Allie that I'm not in their service area (despite Allie herself scheduling me two weeks prior) and was questioned on how I even got their number to begin with. I reminded her that they performed service already and she herself scheduled me for the service. After letting Allie know that we had an event we'd like services provided for this weekend (hence the two-week-advance scheduling), I was told that I'm not in the service area, and they could try to fit me in somewhere but likely wouldn't be before the weekend. Also, never even a glimmer of an apology for the no show that we planned our entire day around. COVID has wreaked havoc on small businesses, and I still really want to support small businesses with services for our new home. Schedules being booked, or being short staffed and there needing to be delays right now is beyond understandable, and I have no complaints with the time this has taken. But... Professionalism has to be there. That's non-negotiable. If anyone has good pest control recommendations, please please shoot me a message. This company is wonderful, and Luis is as good as it gets. I am more than happy to recommend these folks -- polite, caring, patient, very experienced and knowledgable, and reasonably priced for the work required. I had a mild rodent infestation; Luis crawled all through the house -- basement and attic -- identified the problem, sealed all entryways, caught the rat, and (fingers crossed) the house remains impenetrable. He is a busy guy (deservedly so -- he's the best!), but was easy to schedule and never was late/missed an appointment. Additionally, after their warranty ended, I found new droppings in my garage. Not only was Luis on time he was a little early. He came into our house and we showed where we had the rat problem and he inspected different boxes and under chairs and couches. Luis then proceeded to go outside and walk the perimeter of our property looking for areas that the rat could get into the house. After about 15 minutes Luis reset some of my traps with his own bait and then told me that if I could not catch the rat myself he and his company would come back and try to take care of our problem. What can I say about the best in the business that hasn't already been said? These guys are top notch knowledgeable experts who understand how to keep your residence free of vermin. They rock! I called them up a few days ago to help rid our property of pesky ants that had decided to take over our yards and home: every morning we would awake to ants marching through our kitchen or living room. It was a daily activity for us. Then I called Luis and company. We set an appointment up for Thursday. They were busy but managed to squeeze us in! Luis showed up wearing a mask (CoVID guidelines) and got to work spraying our property with an eco friendly ant poison. His job was done in :30 minutes and he took the time to explain to me the numerous nests that had formed around our place. He even mentioned the ones I had not found. At the moment pest control people are swamped, so the soonest I could get L & A Pest Control to my house was a week. But since no one else was any more available and I'd heard good things about them, I waited. Luis showed up on time and I proceeded to tell him my rat tale (no pun intended) of woe and what I intended to do after he got rid of all my rats. Instead of immediately presenting me with an estimate for thousands of dollars - which is what I expected - Luis told me he couldn't really do anything for me that wouldn't cost thousands of dollars with no eradication of my rat problem, because the same rats - or a new group - would return unless I made it less attractive for them - by no longer providing them with housing and food. I asked him if there was anything I could do, and he carefully explained what steps I could take to rid my property of rat housing (none of which included his services), suggesting I do that and see if it works before I completely stop feeding the neighborhood birds and squirrels (since I'd already found a way to leave only a very small amount of food available after 4 p.m. in the afternoon). Rats are generally nocturnal, although at the moment they've started coming out well before the sun sets. I really appreciated the help because I'm not sure how many people I would have had to interview and how many suggestions I would have had to pay for before I found the simple approach Luis shared with me. When Luis finished I offered to pay him because the advice he gave me was invaluable, but he declined, saying the inspection was free and he wasn't going to charge for it. I told him I would use his company in the future and I will. Los Angeles has a really bad rat problem and even if I get rid of the excessive number living on my property today, some will no doubt return or a new group will come calling - even if I stop feeding and housing them. That's when I'll call Luis because I know he will treat me fairly and will only provide services if they will help. read more

L & A deserves all the 5s and positive comments! We hired them to do a tent termite fumigation and then fix some foundation ventilation holes for pest prevention a few weeks ago. Highly recommended! Luis is very experienced, detail-oriented, and polite! He did a thorough termite inspection at the first visit. During the 2nd visit, he gave me caution tape, provided me with adequate fumigation bags for packing, demonstrated how to use them, walked me through everything inside and outside the house, and offered solutions to resolve some concerns. Two days before the actual fumigation, he came back to take care of the roof ventilation fans and ground cover gravels around the house all by himself. He did everything he could to ensure a smooth process of the fumigation. Frankly, fumigation is such a hectic experience, but Luis had made it much easier and lighter for our family. Soon after we moved back to the house, we had Luis repair an entry gate and some ventilation holes to prevent rodents from entering the foundation. Not only the screens were well mounted, but the newly built wood frame was also painted to perfectly match the wall. All was done in just an hour! But it does make me wonder whether if they are a good company if they don't handle commercial businesses. I have seen some bad operators with dirty facilities but I also have seen very clean operators so I can understand why they wouldn't be up to the challenge. Bought a house and our realtor had a termite guy do an inspection. He said the house needed to be tented at a cost of $3500. The seller would not pay for it. After the sale closed I called L&A as Luis has always done a great job for us, including the inspection and repairs on the sale of my house in northridge. I reached out to L & A in Dec 2022 during their Holiday break. Allie returned my call (during her vacation) and sched my inspection for the day they return. Luis & the technician did a quality job sealing every possible entry point. They use a nice, strudy mesh that was painted to match my home. It's an invisible force field. Traps were set and Luis returned multiple times weekly until he caught something. Following revisits start tapered out. 6 months later I hear a loud wrestling sound in my chimney. I reached out to Allie, and Luis came over the SAME day. Luckily the loud sound was coming from outside my chimney cap. From the "crime scene" we deduced that the critter was sitting on top of the chimney, feasting on mulberries which sent a loud clanking noise echoing down into the home. The critter never made it inside (thank God!). While Luis was here, he took the extra time to reinforce the mesh protecting the roof top. The attitude and work ethic of the entire L & A Team is 100% positive. Me and my surrounding neighbors can vouch for a job well done. Thank you Allie and Luis for protecting my home. L and A already had our business... they usually have a quick response time (though I'm guessing they are a victim of their own success and they are getting so many great reviews on Yelp that they can't respond as fast as their business expands), prices seem competitive and, most of all, no bullshit or upcharges or sales pitch. What prompted this particular review is that Luis just paid a visit to my folks' house. I had sent him a photo of some sort of small bug infestation (bug parts and lots of tiny stains and bug feces in a fold out sofa). Five days later (see? He's getting busier.) he comes out, says it's a small cricket infestation, that it's no longer an active problem and proceeds to clean up the whole mess with enough detail that he had to borrow my folks' vacuum... he was there about an hour. Then told them it was all "no charge". What professional charges nothing for an hour of their time? One who has won our business for the foreseeable future. read more

He discovered the source of the issue-- we'd had some plumbing work done and the plumbers left a pipe and grate open, allowing the rat to access it.
