The service here is really forgettable, the staff doesn't really greet you when you come in, and makes you feel a bit unwelcome. The food is okay, nothing special, it is just sometimes cold and flavorless. Something else is that they don't have waiters or waitresses walking around, so if you want to get a refill of your drink, you need to get up and walk all the way to the front counter for them to go to the back and refill it for you. I recently visited L&D Chinese Buffet, and unfortunately, it was a very disappointing experience.First off, the condition of the place is pretty bad -- some parts of the building are literally falling apart. In certain areas, you can even see holes in the ceiling. Cleanliness is also lacking, which made the dining experience uncomfortable. As for the food, like most buffets, it might only be worth it if you have a big appetite. If you're not someone who eats a lot, you're probably better off going somewhere else -- it's just not worth the price. The service was okay. Not terrible, but definitely not great either. Very good food, selection is great! Take my family there very often. If you go for parties, then they always have a dinning room for that. You will not be disappointed at the large selection of quality food . You never have to wait in a long line . My experience at this location was not the best experience as we went out for a family night. The service could have been better and the food was not the best tasting. We ended out stay early as my husband bit into an eggroll and found what looked like hard pieces of rocks inside. They did give us a "discount" on our bill. Beware of this so-called restaurant. Our party of four ate there on April 6, 2023, and before the night was out, three of us came down with food poisoning. There is absolutely no reason to waste your time or money at this place unless you're into cold and tainted food ~ not to mention filthy bathrooms. The food is ok.. I did see a roach run across the cashier booth. I just wish there was someone who you can communicate with when you're trying to buy party trays. As there is a big language barrier. It's hard to communicate with them over the phone. Therefore I have to come inside to get a better understanding on how big their party trays are and if they have certain types of food. The last time my family and I ate at the New L & D Chinese Buffet, forced us not to want to eat there again. It's a buffet here in town, and I have to say the food was pretty good. However, the last time we ate there, we found cockroaches behind the sauces and under our table. We noticed this after finishing our meal, but either way, it disgusted us knowing that we had just eaten there with cockroaches so close to our food. Even though the food is good, I don't recommend anyone to eat there because there's a possibility you could have a similar experience to ours. read more

This is one of the restaurants in Porterville my husband and I absolutely refuse to go back to. When we were there we did not have a pleasant experience. We paid for all you can eat buffet and left our food on the table after sitting down with the first plate. The food was not kept at the proper temperature. Items that should have been hot were not even warm. The lack of cleanliness in the restaurant was concerning as well. Waiting 20 minutes to get 2 waters. First he asked what we had to drink again, and we said water, he came back with 2 cokes and before he reach our table he realize and came with water. Honestly the best Chinese food out there. We came with a family of 4. The price is literally so cheap for a buffet. I don't know why people are writing bad reviews about this place as it's the best food in the town. The service was always fantastic, they were so nice when serving us. My favorite is when adding the spicy chili to the noodles while eating other chicken and beef with it. The flavor when mixing them is delicious. The sweet and sour soup also had a very good taste to it. I honestly have no complaint about this place at all because it's the best experience I've had in many buffets I've been to. Best place to go to with family friends or even just yourself. The only reason people would say it's bad is when they come in very late when they're almost closing. Ate there last night. 25 dollars for 2 people to eat. Food was cold and this is at an "all you can eat" buffet. My girl works in the food industry for the state. Once she got her plate and bit into cold meat she told me the buffet tables are supposed to keep food hot for 4 hours. How long had the food been sitting there to get cold? It was disgusting. We worried about food borne illness. The food was not only cold but the food holders were nearly empty. We didn't finish our food but instead decided to leave. We both woke up sick to our stomachs in the middle of the night and were in and out of the restroom all night long. Avoid this place. It's Disgusting and expensive. The workers were very bored and on their phones the whole time we were there. They didn't seem interested in customer service at all.
