This place would have gotten a 5 if the people were nicer. The peach and the kiwi is delicious!!!!! you have to have those flavors, especially kiwi because its so rare and delicious. They have actual fruit in the gelato. However, the are rude and make it known they are talking about the customers. I do not stand for that. The second time my friend and I went there, my friend bought a water that cost 50 pence [cents]. She wanted to get ride of her change so gave 10 coins for 5 pences each; the lady actually walked over to the other employee to show her the coins. Really? While we were in Florence this was the SPOT!!!!!!!! It doesn't get any better, I think. I mean there are hundreds of other places that offer delicious gelato but worked for us. It was on the way back to our hotel room and convenience was important when you are travelling around and walking everyday around Italy for a month. The best was the peach. Oh my gosh. It was better than actually eating a peach because the flavor of the gelato just amped up the peach flavor by 100. We did a food tour in Florence and we were given a pretty good education on what to look for, and just as important, what to stay away from. From what I learned, this gelato is what you are looking for. We went at different times of the day and from everything we saw, this is it. Let's get one thing right, you don't go for the staff or the service. That's ok cause, if you're like me, you are a guest in their country and the traditions and the things they are used to, are a bit different from what you are used to. Wow. I'm surprised this place is rated so low but I guess maybe I'm not a gelato coneseur. I tend to judge a place by their simple flavors, specifically how well the vanilla and chocolate taste together. This place has a dark chocolate and vanilla that are tops and for the price, the best of over half dozen others places we tried in Florence. The flavor and consistency of the dark chocolate set it apart. My favorite place in Florence. I ate here every night for two weeks. Next best place was in Pisa, third best was in Luca. Went to Florence for my honeymoon and tried many places for gelato but this became our go-to spot. When we went they had two cases of flavors and a very good selection. The reason we kept going back was for the nutella flavor, which I loved. It's in the quiet Piazza Santa Maria Novella and a great break from the Piazza del Duomo down the street. read more

We tried many gelaterias during our recent trip and this one was the best for flavor, variety and nice location on the Piazza Santa Maria Novella. Some of the other reviewers commented on lack of variety so it may be that the selection has now been expanded.
