Not with $20 let alone $126. Here are pics of her recent groom job yesterday. I asked that they keep her long and that didn't happen and instead even shaved her bald in sections and very uneven everywhere. She didn't even have any mats yet, but that was her excuse. The pics don't even do it justice. Update: The owner did reach out and refunded the visit. She did want me to bring my dog back in for her to see (which I initially took offense to as if she didn't believe the obvious pictures but that is not why according to her).By then it would not look exactly the same since I had to do something to try to even things out while it grew out and I didn't want to cause my dog undue stress since I was not going to have anyone else mess with her at this time.. Luckily, it will grow back and eventually be back to normal but would be hard for me to be okay with same shop even with different groomer at this point.

Will not be bringing our pet to PetSmart ever again Coralville Mall, Coralville, IA location…read more We've had our pet there since he was a pup. Never an issue with him being "vicious". Dropped him off on 02/21/2025 for his grooming appointment. No issues at all. Met the young lady that usually greets us and she was happy to see our pet, and he was happy to see her. 45 minutes later I get a call from "Tamisha" who we have NEVER had a appt with. She advised I needed to pick up my dog "now" because she doesn't groom vicious dogs and he tried to bite her twice. She went on to say I should be glad, because now I am getting a free wash and disconnected the call. Arrived at the store 10 minutes later, the same young lady who we dropped off to did NOT give the same story. Here words, "He seemed agitated with the dryer but did not act vicious to her". Whoever Tamisha is, she is not a good representative of your organization. We have been bring our pets to this location for almost 3 years now. I'm sorry, but after this treatment, we will not be returning, nor will be be shopping at any location again.

I would recommend to local residents and visitors who are looking for some premium supplies above the huge chain pet stores. More geared to premium supplies for your dog and a smaller sections for cats, it's a neat store that aims to an unfulfilled niche in Iowa City. They carry a fairly diverse selection of just about any premium supply you could need for your dog. Collars/leads/harnesses as well as dog bowls/feeders are particularly good selections. They also have a display case with sparkly dog collars and rhinestone letters to spell out your dogs name. Nice to see a store here in Iowa that can go head to head with some LA pet boutiques. Additionally they have the usual suspects of toys, jackets, beds, and grooming products. They carry two kinds of premium dog kibble - Wellness and Chicken Soup for the Soul. Treat wise, they also carry wellness and old mother hubbards among others and they have a baked goods section for dogs. I saw a triple peanut butter cookie which resembled a triple tier ritz and peanuts cracker sandwich. Bought two of those as well as a couple of peanut butter bone treats for about $3.50. The woman at the counter (I assume the owner) greeted me right away and made sure I was doing well while shopping. The human products looked nice as well and I imagine this would be a great place to put together a gift basket for humans or dogs. Parking is ample in the mini-mall location and there is a nice coffeehouse next door with free wifi and they have outdoor seating for you and your dog when it's warm. If I was a local, I'd be frequenting this place for my supply needs. Nothing really negative to say. It's probably a 3.5 star place compared to places in LA, but that's unfair. I wish they could stock more premium varieties of kibble and treats since wellness, chicken soup for the soul, old mother hubbards, etc are common for mid range mass appeal pet chain stores, but I think distributor criteria factors a large role in that decision. Prices are run of the mill for a pet boutique where I come from, but I imagine locals may think of it as expensive.

We've taken our miniature schnauzer here for about a year, and would say our overall experience has…read morebeen pretty average up until recently. Our most recent appointment was on a Saturday at 9am. We arrived right on time and our dog literally had to be dragged in. He's typically hesitant when we bring him in (which to be honest has always made me feel a bit suspicious about how he's treated) but he's never had to be physically dragged in and that left me feeling uneasy. Our dog's grooming appointments typically last around 2.5-3 hours, so at 12pm we decided to head down to Iowa City (we live in North Liberty). I figured our dog was probably close to being done since we were at the 3 hour mark. We end up waiting until 1pm (it's now been 4 hours) before giving the shop a call to ask for an update. She tells me she's "got him on the table now" and that he should be done in AT MOST 40 minutes. We weren't too happy about this. That made me think that he had been sitting in a kennel waiting to be groomed for a while. An HOUR goes by, still no call. It's now been 5 hours since we dropped him off, and we've now wasted most of our day waiting around for him to be done. This has NEVER happened before (and we've probably had 7-10 appointments over the last year), and we really would have appreciated a call if they knew it was going to take longer than normal. We decided to show up anyway. As we are pulling into the parking lot, we see the groomer and other employees standing in a circle taking a smoke break, and the groomer sees us pull in. Sure enough, they call us 5 minutes after we park to tell us that our dog is ready. He is completely shaved--his fur gets matted very easily so that's fine-- but what's not fine is that it took you 5 hours to shave our dog? And you're taking a smoke break while our dog is sitting in some back room and you know we're ready to pick him up? It's hard for me to write things like this--especially about a small business that's owned by a woman--but this was very disappointing and unprofessional. I also have a strong feeling that if my fiancé and I were older, we would have been taken more seriously and treated with more professionalism. Unfortunately, we will not be returning and we no longer recommend Hawk-dog grooming. :(

It doesn't have the atmosphere of…read moreconstant chaos like some daycares; they train the dogs to modify behavior during their stay to create a more controlled and safe environment. For example, they train the dogs to calm down after the doorbell rings when you go to pick up your dog. The dogs still get to play and have fun, but things never get out of control or too loud! My dog is always so excited to walk in when I drop her off! And while she's gone I get picture and video updates of her stay, and, sometimes, they even send her home with a goody bag. Another unique feature- someone is always there even for overnight stays (no unsupervised kenneling overnight!). BH also offers grooming. My dog used to have anxiety about being groomed from a previous bad experience. Loren had the patience to work with her and, over time, got her to the point where not only was she not afraid, but he didn't even need to use any of the usual restraints that most groomers always use. I am so grateful to have had this daycare for my dog, and I will miss them a lot now that I have to move away from IC. Once Loren heard I was moving, he even offered to help me find a new facility for my dog in our new city. He took the time to call other facilities and let me know which he thought was best. This really shows how much he cares about me and my dog even after we no longer will be regular clients for BH. BH really goes above and beyond to help your dog develop good behaviors and give them a safe and fun environment for their stays!

I cannot say enough good things about this home-away-from-home for your dog!…read moreI don't have grandkids. I have granddogs---and I love them like crazy! My son and his wife got Daisy a few months ago. She had been through a lot, and had a lot of anxiety. They adopted her at the beginning of shelter-in-place during the pandemic. This was great, because it helped Daisy to spend lots of time with her pack (and extended pack!). They are both back to work and faced a huge decision--leave her home alone (which she didn't tolerate well at all) or consider a doggy day care option. We found Bounding Hounds and I can unequivocally say that you can't find a better place for your dog. They are all incredibly knowledgeable and they care about YOUR dog. The owner, Loren, is incredible. After her second day, he spent time talking to us about how to work with her at home to reinforce some of what they have been doing with her. I am a psychologist--his recommendations were so spot on. Here is the kicker--remember, this dog is a "nervous Nellie"--when we dropped her off, as soon as they opened the gate, she SPRINTED off and never looked back! She was so happy to see us--but at the same time, tried to follow Loren back inside. The fact that she is so happy there speaks VOLUMES to me. Finding a place for your dog is like taking your child to daycare---it is so hard to do. Talk to them. These guys are incredible. You won't regret it!

Unfortunately, after bringing him home, I found out he has roundworms something I was never informed of. I was specifically told he needed to see a vet before I could pick him up, which gave me confidence he was healthy. I paid a significant amount, and now I'm facing additional unexpected vet bills to treat a condition that should have been disclosed upfront. I also made it clear that I have another dog at home, so this situation could have easily impacted more than just one pet. To make matters worse, my vet mentioned that they've seen similar cases from this same place, which is very concerning. Another red flag was not being allowed to read the terms of agreement myself they were only read to me. Looking back, that doesn't sit right. I understand that puppies can come with health risks, including parasites like roundworms, but transparency is everything especially at this price point. I feel let down by the lack of honesty and communication. Again, I love my pup and wish the best for the other dogs there, but I would strongly encourage anyone considering purchasing from here to ask detailed questions, request full documentation, and be fully aware of potential risks before committing.
