Long time customers, unfortunately will not return. Empty restaurant on a Friday evening at 7:30. Service was okay. Quality of food especially the specials were poor. I added crabmeat to my entree and received what would be equivalent size to 3 garlic cloves. The food was lacking flavor and my fish was overcooked. One out of seven of us had an adequate tasting entree (eggplant parm). Our drinks were good, the bread was good but other than that it just was not the same restaurant as it use to be. read more

My wife and I saw our 10 year anniversary alongside our 13 month old daughter yesterday. We had a great bottle of wine, an amazing FRIED CALAMARI & I ordered the special. It was a delicious white fish topped with jumbo shrimp. My wife had the Maji maji and it was to die for. We had a lovely evening all thanks to a very kind and professional server from Colombia. Food was good, service was great, ambience fantastic. Only critique is that although there is a bar one would think the bar could serve more than 5 cocktails. Not a single tequila cocktail that night. Husband loved the wine list but I'm not a wine drinker I like a tequila martini. It's still a good restaurant not the one of old when a family could eat without taking out a loan first! The lasagna is top notch as it always has been. I didn't enjoy cold crab claws though. Went for Dads birthday. Every thing we tried was amazing. Five stars for sure. Honestly- we ate until we hurt. The signature walls felt juvenile. I would have preferred something more rustic Italian. Empty restaurant should have been our first clue! The host gentleman did not smile or make eye contact. The waiter was friendly and helpful, and told us right away all the things they were out of from the menu. Immediately disappointed as my husband enjoys lasagna and they were out. The house salad with creamy Italian dressing was good. Frozen mozzarella sticks were hot and edible. My husband received a large plate stacked with pasta, ground meat sauce and several meatballs, which was ice cold. Clearly had been defrosted or taken out the fridge and popped in the microwave, apparently not long enough. I do not understand how a kitchen can send a cold plate of food out. Not the waiter fault. We ended up taking it with us to give away rather than throw away a huge plate of food. We are from out of town and travel monthly to the area for work. Look I understand some people over exaggerate when it comes to the reviews they will leave for certain places. Some make it seem as if it's the best place ever while others make it seem as if it's the worst place ever.. With that that being said this place was a four out of five rating on Yelp and Google so I decided to give it a try. Maybe I should just check out a hole in the wall next time. I ended up ordering Polpelle ( meatballs) Romana braised meatballs and mushrooms over spicy garlic pasta w/ red wine demi. I really wanted to like this dish. But in all honesty it was quite disappointing. Every part of this meal was bland. The meatballs had a mushy texture and they were bland, the spicy garlicky pasta did have a slight hint of garlic taste but was definitely lacking in any spiciness whatsoever. Mushroom were chewy and lacked any flavor whatsoever. Decent price, okay service and you do get a lot of food. Maybe it was an off night for the chef. I am willing to try this place again. In town for the coin and stamp show, we came here on the recommendation of one of the show's organizers. Prepared for mediocrity because of its location in the tourist district, we left pleasantly surprised. So much so that we came back a second night. The good vibes started with the fresh hot bread and one of the Italian wines from.their interesting and reasonable wine list. Then came the meals. Each of us received ample portions of what we ordered. Service was attentive as bread and butter were replenished and our water glasses kept full. Everything changed once the original owner left. The food is always dry and bland now and way overpriced. The area inside is cool with all the writings on the wall and candlelight but it's definitely an old building with limited space. You will be squeezing your way in between tables and into the small bathroom. The waiters are always very hospitable and attentive though! Fun and quiet environment. Stopped in for dinner in a Tueaday - not too busy which was perfect. Should have ordered the antipasti misto but instead had the house salad (counting calories- house creamy Italian was good) Entree was veal parmigiana - came out freshly cooked , hot and was delicious.. be prepared- sauce has lots of garlic. Pasta comes with it - asked for angel hair which was overcooked by at least 2 minutes ...far from al dente. Dessert was Tiramisu.. The bread and butter and service was good. The Caesar salad and Mahi Mahi was good. The rest left a lot to be desired. I also liked the smoked salmon appetizer. My husband got veal Marsala but the dish was so tiny and the meat was barely there. Literally we asked if they forgot the meat. The eggplant wasn't great... and the Parmesan added to your meal? The ambiance of the restaurant is superb. The staff were all friendly. I couldn't give a 5 star only because I've been to better Italian restaurant in the area. The portions are big so come hungry. I had the seafood pasta but it was drowning on too much sauce. It was good but the sauce filled up all the way on the top of the plate for me. Second time at this restaurant. First time would have been 4 1/2 stars. This time a solid two. I know restaurants are having staff issues so let's start with that. There is an issue. We get it. We arrived at 6:20 for a 6:30 reservation. We were told table for 4 was almost ready. We waited in the foyer which was charming with newspaper write ups and fun table with little trinkets and giveaways. Two other parties of the exact number were seated before us along with a large party - all arriving after us. We noted, but no biggie. We were still down to eat. Seated at 6:50-6:55. Immediately had water and bread bought. Waiter was friendly but hurried. Looked like there were only two waiters. We ordered a bottle of wine he suggested and put in order for the caprese. Wine was prompt. Caprese came out about 10 minutes later. All acceptable. Ordered our entrees. And here's where it went downhill. Honestly, I don't think I have ever waited as long as I did for a meal. If you've seen The Office episode called "Dinner Party," yeah, that. We waited over an hour and fifteen minutes for our entrees. I wish I were kidding. By the time they arrived, we were disinterested. We had talked about every subject we could think and had reverted to listlessly stating at the graffiti on the wall. Which, why have graffiti? It's not a bar. It's supposed to be a nice Italian restaurant. I understand the nostalgia, but I would cover that stuff up with fresh paint. Overall the whole place needs a bit of TLC. The food? It was all good. Can't say there was an issue with the food. But the overall experience was just disappointing, especially since we were excited to take our Italian-loving boys home from college to a new place. They were pretty underwhelmed. The waiter acknowledged the staffing issue as he cleared the table. I think it would have been better to be up front about the issue when people sit down than to ignore us for an hour while we looked hopefully at the kitchen every time the order bell rang. Will we go back? Maybe. But probably not. Easier to go to Chianti in Shreveport which has more variety and a traditional sit down vibe (even if it too could use some upgrades) Take out from this place would probably be better than a sit down. read more

My server was very attentive and gave excellent recommendations on my Sauvignon Blanc, food which I had shrimp fiorentina, with a small side of pasta marinara. Absolutely perfection!!!! We were looking forward to going here for my birthday. We made reservations for 1/23 @730. We won't be back. We should have gotten a hint from the unprofessional way the fella took our reservations. He was not polite and it seemed to take him some effort to assist by phone. We ordered calamari as appetizer and it was extremely overcooked. The batter was plain with no seasoning. My wife ordered a seafood linguini dish that was bland. She hardly touched it. I ordered a special the waiter went over called the Orleans. It was to be a slab of redfish garnished with crabmeat and crawfish. Spiced with red pepper and a glaze of sweet sauce. Asparagus on the plate as well. It was not good. The redfish was cooked properly however, it seemed to be something made up on the fly and not planned well at all. The sauce tasted like cheap again sauce out of a jar. The Asparagus was overcooked. The first Dirty Titos martini I ordered was watered down and they used black olive juice not green. It was a hot mess. The second martini was better with proper juice and maybe a fresh bottle of Titos. We were very let down. Since it was my birthday I did only mention the calamari being overcooked. The waiter was nice but not trained well at all. There were long period with no check in. Our food took a long time as well. We will not be back and this is upsetting being this area lacks restaurants with elegant atmosphere or settings. read more

The male server had an annoyed face as I asked for 3 seats. His attitude changed once I asked if he had a problem that we were dining there. Bread was really good and tasted fresh. Orders: Caprese, calamari, try me pasta, lunch portion and seafood linguini, lunch portion. Calamari was lightly breaded and crisp! Caprese salad was ok, nothing too special about it. Try me pasta was really good! Pasta was cooked al dente. Seafood linguini was bland and SOUPY! I'll be happy to try other items in the menu. Overall, decent experience. read more

A group of my girlfriends and I came here for dinner for my birthday. We had called and made a reservation days ahead. An hour in were told that if we wanted to have entrees we needed to order because our table was booked with another reservation after us. The owner came to our table trying to rush us along after we were wrapping up and paying our bills. I simply suggested to him that he should let people know that there is a time limit on reservations made. He got very rude and loud with us enough so that it was drawing attention of tables around us and told us, "We were crucifying him just like we did Jesus Christ." Had reservations for 5 people at 6pm on a Friday night; we walked in and were seated right away. The complimentary bread was extremely delicious, and was the high point of the meal! The service was flawless. The only issue - the food. The crab claws were puny, approximately 0.5-1cm thick, and were quite tough. It's hard to describe what they tasted like... Perhaps canned fish? The calamari was lackluster - limp not crunchy, totally unseasoned, and lukewarm. My family and I don't believe in wasting food, so we choked down the apps as quickly as possible, but you know it's bad when you count how many crab claws are left so they can be evenly distributed without anyone having to suffer through extra crab claws! ... Onto the entrees!! The try me pasta was good. The lasagna was good, but downgraded to only okay since it was soon found out that one edge was burned and then covered in extra sauce. The snapper Alberto was truly inedible - overseasoned with citrus and overcooked to the point where one bite took 20-25 chews before one could swallow - I can honestly say that baked fish from a hospital cafeteria is more palatable, better cooked, and actually somewhat seasoned. The chicken marsala - heavy on the alcohol taste and extremely overcooked - hello rubbery chicken. Overall a disappointing dinner at a lovely establishment with top-notch service. Unfortunately the kitchen underperformed and I am unsure if I will return to this establishment. read more

We had the Minestrone Soup which had a traditional flavor with a spice of Louisiana. Also Shrimp Marinara and Seafood Linguine. Both were excellent - huge portions.
