I came in for a gel x nail removal. She went in with a USED FLIMSY METRO CARD to pop off my nail after buffing it.. WTF? I had to STOP her and tell her to use acetone the proper way?? It left 2 of my finger nails damaged because I had to work up the courage to tell her to stop. Not to mention the worker was rushing and very rough on my nails the entire time. Was going back and forth between clients when there was someone else that could have done the service for me. She had me sitting with a dirty bowl of acetone for significantly longer than needed, which left my entire hands peeling, again I had to speak up. Anyway, after the gel was soft enough and peeling, she was going extremely rough on my natural nail while filing it. It left my fingernails looking like it had layers. She was going to have me walk out like this WITHOUT any nail oil to rehydrate my nail? Also had to trim my nails at home. Terrible service, will not be going back. read more

Never wrote a bad review before but I had to for this one. I asked for a manicure no polish and my lady came out with this. I don't remember her name but the worse experience ever. This was my second time coming back and I got unlucky getting the same lady because she did a horrible job. This place is really nice and they do $18 pedicures. A lot of people come here but everyone wears masks and gloves and the ladies are rlly nice. They're super friendly and talk with you but also will talk along themselves. Very homey local vibe. The ladies are pretty attentive with your nails and toe nails. They do all the steps, clipping, cuticle cutting, cleaning and even moisturize and massage your feet and hands depending on its needs. The girl I had was super caring and thoughtful as I know my feet can get very intense as I walk around nyc a lot. I got a gel mani here since it was close to my house. I decided to give it a try. I showed Tina, the lady doing my nails what I wanted. She was able to do it but the curves I wanted her to do on the top of my nails were a little off. It seems like a lot of people comes here to get a quick fix. They don't ask for designs on their nails. Therefore, one of the lady working there had to go around with my phone asking the other workers how much they charge for that design...I was shocked that they didn't know the price for it. The stamp card for this place is $5 off after 10 visits. Most places gives you a free mani. Overall, this place is ok. But, I did witness another lady getting her acrylic remove. She was in pain and the nail tech told her to bare with it. I can tell that it really hurt. Definitely don't come here to get your acrylic remove. read more

I know how busy nail salons in Brooklyn can get, so I made an appointment. I went to Vicky for SNS Dip and gel and she rushed the entire time. She didn't push or cut my cuticles, I had to pick dried dip powder off my fingers, she painted the gel touching my cuticles and half of my nails are thick and lumpy. $61 wasted. My favorite nail salon ever and excellent customer service. Yes I'm a regular and I have to say everyone here is a professional when it comes to polishing nails. Not only do they do regular mani and pedi, they also do SNS, gel mani & pedi. They're really patience with me especially Amy, Anna and Joanna. My go to lady is Amy, she always perfects my nails although I'm there for a good 3 hours. Everyone there talks to me and don't bore me at all. I usually like my nails square and they do such an amazing job and even the owner knows what I come in for either a gel mani or gel pedi. They carry Essie, opi and cnd nail polish. The polish last 3-4 weeks, definitely worth it. I pay $50 for both gel pedi and gel mani and honestly you can't find this good deal anywhere else. No matter what time you make an appointment for you have to wait. They have no regard for your time in this place, just want your money. They will never turn a customer away, any walk in will be taken even if you have an appointment in the next 10 minutes. The worst nail salon ever！I went there for gel manicure and the service was so bad. It took less than 15 minutes, the fastest manicure I have ever done in my life. So something told me to go here again because of how convenient the location was. So I did. Went in for a pedicure and new set of gel acrylic tips. DONT DO IT. my pedicure took 5 minutes, no seriously. No exaggeration. No cuticle cuttings or anything. Sat me down, cut and filed my nails, wet my feet and painted it. Then my acrylics took over an hour but the result looks like it took 30 minutes ? Don't come here for a pedicure or coffin tips, it literally looks half almond but not as round. Walk a few blocks to Stars Nail because this place is trash and always will be. I paid $60 for both services. I gave $4 tip to my acrylic girl because how sincere and you can see she tried, then my pedicure person stood right in front of me and said "this bitch is so cheap" little did she know I knew Chinese and responded back. She looked embarrassed but unsympathetic. So you make customers feel OBLIGATED to tip you even if you give your half ass effort into something that was suppose to take at least 20 minutes and turned it into something that lasted 5?? You're lucky I even paid for the shitty service of whats called a pedicure there. Don't go there. They talk shit hoping you don't understand but almost every customer there was spoken about and clueless. They laugh in your face and call you dirty and disgusting. The ladies are so sweet and accommodating and do an excellent job on my nails. I have been going to this nail salon for probably 7-8 years now. They have recently done some renovations and it is looking better than ever. Ana is my girl so I always try to get an appointment in advance. If not, you will be waiting because it does get busy but that's because I think it's the best in the area. Prices are beyond reasonable. Although they just raised their prices a bit, I think $18 for a gel manicure M-Th (and $20 F-Sun) is still very great. I recommend this place. Great prices and services! Oh btw, bring cash because although they do take cards with a min of $20 charge, they charge you a $3 service fee which i think is beyond ridiculous but blame the credit card companies not the salone read more

This place looks very nice and clean for a nail salon and the staff seemed friendly. The prices over here are very affordable and inexpensive and the wait time wasn't too long. The lady who helped me, Ana, did a good job with the manicure and pedicure, but she didn't live up to my expectations for waxing my eyebrows. She was waxing very slowly and she kept talking to her coworker across the room which I didn't mind until she stopped at one point to go near the door entrance to converse with her. When she finished doing my eyebrows I noticed that one side looked thicker than the other and I told her. She said she would fix it but she also added "your eyebrows are hard to do." At that point I just let her finish what she was doing and didn't even want her to touch up on anything else because I didn't want anyone who wasn't confident. She should've just passed me on to someone more experienced if she thought it was hard to do. I probably will return here for manicures and pedicures because it is very affordable and Ana did fine on that but definitely not for eyebrow waxing. I now have to wait a month before I can get my eyebrows fixed since I don't have much and it takes awhile for them to grow. Sigh. I had wanted to get my nails done for a date with my husband and wanted to go somewhere close to home. So I ended up here because let's face it, Pinky's is getting a little pricey (even though they usually do good work) I should've listened to instincts and went to Pinky's. Anyhow, I ended up here at L J's. It was around 7 pm and they took me right away as it was a weekday and empty. I wanted to get a mani-pedi, but the girl at the front desk kept insisting that I get a gel manicure. I figured that it was to get me out of there as quickly as possible and of course, to make more money. I was right. They assumed I didn't understand Chinese and just kept going on about other customers. It was ridiculous how quickly the woman finished my pedicure, and I was getting a little annoyed because the woman kept taking out these very pink nail polish colors when I kept asking her for cream white (for my pedicure). I don't know. Anyway, I ended up getting a french gel manicure for my fingers, and I thought she had done a pretty good job there. HOWEVER, it is now 3 days later, and the nails are already coming off... I have never in my life paid $28 dollars for a french gel manicure and have it already be chipping and coming off ON DAY 3. Lol. I kept it away from water, harsh chemicals and all that.. yet somehow, the index, middle and ring fingers on both hands are coming off. Needless to say, with the gossiping and talking about their clients right in front of their faces, lackluster job, and just being plain greedy; I won't be coming back. Heed the other reviews as well, I didn't want to believe it at first, but it's true. Especially if you can understand their language and go in speaking English. They don't do the nails that good. My tips broke the second day. First someone started to do my nails and then they kept changing the workers. So 4 girls worked just with my nails. When i was paying they actually mentioned to me the i have to leave tip to each of them. Tip its optional.
