This was my first time shopping at the L'Occitane location at Brea Mall, and unfortunately, I was very disappointed with my experience. I came in looking for a birthday gift for my sister, who loves this brand. I found a gift set that was clearly marked with a $110 price sticker, and there was another identical set marked the same price. When I went to check out, Michele told me the set was actually $160. I pointed out that the box was labeled $110 and asked if they could honor the advertised price, but she refused. Michele was the only employee there and was not very helpful or friendly about the situation. I also asked if there was anyone else she could contact for assistance, but she would not call anyone. Since the store was about to close and I needed the birthday gift, I ended up purchasing it anyway. She had me purchase additional items in order to receive a $20 discount, but I still paid more than the price clearly displayed on the gift set. I understand that pricing mistakes can happen, but I don't think a customer should be expected to pay $50 more than the price displayed on the merchandise, especially when multiple sets were labeled $110. I left feeling extremely disappointed with both the customer service and the way the pricing issue was handled. Unfortunately, after this experience, I will not be returning to the Brea Mall location. read more

I think this place is just OKAY!! I had to make a return and you call, never answer!! hours are not clear, on Yelp it says they close at 6 pm! but they actually close at 7pm. I tried calling few times to see if they are open past 6 pm on Sundays so I don't have to make the drive if they are not. L'OCCITANE have very small locations from what I noticed. So after calling a good 6 or 7 times with no repose. I called the mall guest services to see if this location actually existed, they assured me that they are open until the mall closes, they also said they were going to send a security to see why they don't respond. I finally called them few hours later and a lady responded, so i asked when they were going to close and she told me. I told her how I had hard time reaching them and she denied that their phone have rang! ok I went there, the person helping me didnt seem that she liked I was doing the return. I mean I have receipt, and items unopened, shouldn't be a big deal! Its definitely not coming out of her pocket whether I keep or return the product. This store offers some of the best products with the worst customer service. Their lotions and creams are some of the best, sadly the same can't be said for their service. First off, the hours on the door noted they were open until 8pm, but they decided to close at around 7 instead which I felt was strange for a non mom and pop store. I've come in here a few times but always got this vibe that the store employees were stuck up and racist. Everyone that walks in should be treated well regardless of their race or clothing. I've seen first hand a lack of acknowledgement from the Caucasian woman to customers that were not White- that's totally uncalled for. In addition, the Asian woman seemed to think she was above people as well and was totally rude- icing on the cake was when she picked up her personal cell phone and spoke in Mandarin in the middle of my transaction. Call me old school but I think good customer service requires undivided attention.. A little piece of humble pie, you both work in retail so let's not act like racist snobs because this will only deter customers and the less sales your store has the less likely you'll both have jobs for much longer. There's definitely room for improvement here and I hope to see it. read more

I'm not surprised that this location has a 3.3 star rating. I called this morning and spoke to Janet, store manager. I was calling in regards to a return for a purchase that was made online. I tried to explain the reason for my return to Janet but she was so rude and unpleasant to talk to. I decided to call the Irvine Spectrum store and got such a different experience. The store associate I spoke to was so kind and pleasant, I was told to bring in the product and they would be more than happy to assist with the return. I read previous reviews, it looks like other customers have had the same unpleasant experience with Janet. Janet you need a lesson in good customer service skills!! I went here today for a gift my friends. From the start, the woman who looks like a manager here was very unkind. I asked her about what I could get as a promo gift, She was a real bad since then. And I ordered 3 boxes of packages, And I asked her if it could be packaged separately. But her answer was no!!! I couldn't understand. It was $50 per package and each one was a Christmas present for someone else, but I really didn't understand that I can't get 3 paper bags. "Can i buy it?" Asked her. She said, "NO!" I just gave up. Stuck up white lady who says she's the manager . I walked in and no one greeted me I had to walk up to them and ask questions. Basically shrugged me off . I guess I didn't look like I had money smh. Wow, came here to write about my negative experience with the store manager and was appalled at all the previous reviews who had the same run in with her. Store manager, I believe her name was Janet, was incredible rude to my mother and I. Came in a few days ago and wanted to get her a late Mother's Day gift that she could pick out herself. We went a few times during the week but this location is always closed during most of the day I'm unsure why. So luckily, we came in and the store was open! We were so excited and was unfortunately faced with Janet. She did not acknowledge us come into store, it actually from what I saw looked like she was talking on her cell phone? She just stared at us the whole time and made us very uncomfortable as she did not say a word, instead stared from behind the counter. After about 5 minutes of no acknowledgement we finally came up to her to ask a question and she was incredibly rude. I agree with the previous reviews on here that she is extremely racist and won't acknowledge anyone who isn't white, as another group came in after us who were white and she hopped up to help them immediately. We ended up finding the exact same product in Nordstrom and purchased there instead with great customer service from the young lady there. I was appalled that my mother had to experience this horrible and inexcusable customer service from Janet. I am writing a long overdue review so excuse my tardiness. My mother has been shopping at Brea since I was a child. And although she did buy L'occitane products, she always did so through Nordstrom's and not through the in-shop inside the mall, this was due to the fact that the entire staff was always uneducated of their products and/or simply did not care for their customers. Due to a rare coincidence we somehow ended up in the in-shop version a few weeks back. However, to our surprised we were greeted with attentive representative at the counter, being Sony. Not only was she hospitable, she was personable, kind, and knowledgeable of the products. She not only aided my mother during her stay, she also informed of us products which we asked before Sony as to what they were , which all employee's simply stated that it did nothing special- I'm speaking about the youth serum oil. Anyways all in all she was ever so kind. Then we ended up meeting the new manger Jennet whom also was beyond kind, not only did we feel at home in side the notorious store for bad service, we felt as if we were visiting old friends. She inform my mother of numerous "deals/prizes" which we have not been informed regardless of our patronage for years, and to our surprise she was even kind enough to give us condolence packages. Jennet tells us that she did realize this store had issues from the start and tried to fix it, however the at the time manager and staff all ignored her. I am really excited to what shall come anew from this store and now my mother finally seems to be able to shop here again! read more

This is the 2nd time they have rescheduled me at last second because the staff who can provide mini facial services are sick. The store manager told me because no one could cover her so even though she has flu she has to work on me even though she is sick. I asked if she at least has a mask on so she is not coughing on me, she refuses to wear one because work doesn't provide her a mask. The box at the dollar shop contains at least a dozen masks for just a dollar, it's not like it's expensive. When she knows she has to come in work being sick, she refuses to wear a mask just because her work doesn't provide her a free mask and she refuses to buy one of her own? Wearing a mask so you don't cough on your customers should be a common decency. Flu is going on everywhere now, and it's very dangerous she is spraying her flu to her customers, and refuses to wear a mask??? I just can't believe what I just heard! I went to this location, a tall Caucasian lady, who seems to be manager refused to exchange products I was gifted. I was given a cream, body wash and hand cream. I did not have a receipt or gift receipt. She said I could have bought the products at a discount store and brought it here to exchange. I was also told, that the products could have been purchased in a gift set, so they didn't know how to exchange it. They checked the yellow signature gift box for a bar code, She stated she couldn't trade it for same product in different scent because she didn't know how I got these products. First off, I was simply asking for a Scent exchange. I was willing to take the same product just a different scent. However, she treated me like I was a thief and previously stole from The store. How else would I get a bag, box and tissue paper from This store. Obviously, someone paid for this kind of gift and wrapping. The product I had was a current scent on the shelf, she could reshelve my product and sell it for full price for all I cared. I just wanted a different scent to try since I have never shopped here. I left the store upset, discriminated against and with no desire to ever shop here. I figured I'd try a different store to see if I got better treatment. I went to the Arcadia Mall store and they exchanged everything without hesitation or insinuating anything about me or how I got my product. Received the products as a gift and love them. However, the store in the Brea Mall will not be one I will ever visit again. I went there Sunday, given right before they close (20 min before 6pm) to find a gift ($100) for my sweet friend. The sales associate that was in the store couldn't have been any ruder and inattentive. I was not dressed shabby or in any way or form that could've given reason for her to act that way. I asked three questions, which she didn't even want to answer. It is very sad as I truly wanted to buy something and this store could've made money on me as a paying costumer. So instead I went to Sephora where I found something just as nice for the same amount. It is not that I need attention in the store, however, I would like to be treated nicely and saying 'hello' and 'good bye' truly isn't too much to ask for. read more

I am smitten with this L'Occitane location. The service from the store manager and assistant store manager is superb. The brand itself has incredible deals and when you sign up for their email thingy, you get so many offers it becomes hard to decide what if our wanna get and for whom. My whole family and friends all use at least one L'Occitane product. They have the best gifts for any occasion and the service here is absolutely fantastic. The only complaint I have is when I read about other Yelp reviews where people use ethnicity and race as a leverage. There is an older review below that I find so offensive because the issue of race was brought up to dictate the level of service. I find those reviews appalling. Defamatory and revolting. This L'Occitane location has been incredible from the first day it opened years ago around holiday. I promise you this: go in there and just look around. Relax. And have fun. I am very surprised about Tania's review and I am not discounting it, but it might have been just one moment in time. I've been using these products for about 10 years and I have been visiting this store since it opened (I cannot even remember how long ago). I had amazing experiences here and can tell you that the sales associates have been very nice and helpful during all this time. Thanks to them I have no stretch marks on my belly which has gained 70 extra pounds during my twin pregnancy. They recommended the right combination of products for me and I can easily wear a two piece bathing suite now. And I know it is not genetics because I have applied the creams all over my belly and chest and I neglected my thighs and those did get stretch marks.
