My bestie and I were staying at the Williamsburg Lodge and booked a spa day. This place is…read morestunning, with a sauna, massive jacuzzi and treatments of all sorts. We each got a lavender body scrub and our skin felt soooo smooth after. Then she got a massage while I got a signature facial and both experiences were stellar. Dear Management, I…read moream writing to formally express my serious concerns regarding the way my family and I have been treated at the Colonial Williamsburg Spa. Today, I arrived at the spa as a guest of my fiancée, who has a membership. I was immediately told to leave the property because I was supposedly not a member. When I provided my fiancée's name, I was told that the membership did not exist. The way this was handled was extremely rude, disrespectful, and completely unnecessary. Unfortunately, this is not the first time my family has experienced this type of treatment. Every time we visit, we are repeatedly questioned about whether we are members and whether we even belong there. At this point, the pattern of behavior is extremely concerning and has made my family feel unwelcome and singled out. There have also been inappropriate interactions with my fiancée. On one occasion, a worker asked her whether her hair was real. That is an inappropriate and uncomfortable question for an employee to ask a paying customer, and it further contributes to the feeling that my family is being treated differently. Our very first visit also involved an unacceptable condition in the facility: there was feces in the upstairs bathroom/locker room area. Despite that, we continued to give the spa the benefit of the doubt and continued coming back. What is most disappointing is the attitude and lack of professionalism displayed by the director. A director should be setting the standard for how customers are treated, not contributing to an environment where customers feel disrespected, unwelcome, or singled out. I would expect the director to actually direct--to lead the staff properly, address customer concerns professionally, and ensure that every member and guest is treated with dignity and respect. Unfortunately, based on our experiences, that standard has not been met. This behavior is unacceptable for any company, especially one providing a premium membership-based service. My family should not have to repeatedly prove that we belong every time we walk through the door. I am requesting that management take this complaint seriously, investigate these incidents, and address the conduct of the employees and leadership involved. At this point, my experience with Colonial Williamsburg Spa is beyond a one-star review. If zero stars were an option, I would give zero. I expect better from a company of this caliber, and I expect a professional response from management.
