It's bright, spacious, features spacious food, and indeed there is no feeling of being rushed. We were there for about two hours just chatting over coffee then our meals, with our waiter happy to continue taking care of us for much longer. In fact, I'd say our departure surprised him. It's beautiful, feels fancy, but also somehow feels comfortable. Like being in a friend's house. The food is fantastic, I received several recommendations before landing on the beet salad myself, but both meals were ordered were enjoyable. The fish and poultry were both quality, the ingredients all fresh tasting, and in my case, entirely gluten free. We followed with more coffee, delicious of course, it is Montreal after all. I would say the clientele varies and we were loudly interrupted by the duo next to us watching tiktoks loudly with no request to turn it down from the waitstaff. Disruptions like that can make or break an experience, especially after a long period of time. We followed lunch with some very rewarding shopping.

When someone finally saw me, I was asked to put my name and phone number on a piece of paper for Covid-19 tracking purposes (in case of an outbreak). I was seated and asked if I wanted some coffee which I answered yes. I was given a French menu but because I noticed that they had English menus in the front, I asked if I could get an English menu as it simplifies the ordering process for me (even though I speak/understand French). I decided what I wanted to have and ordered it. I would say that service is a bit on the slow side. There were only 2 wait staff and 1 "helper" (who showed people to their seats and cleaned the tables when customers left). I finished 2 cups of coffee before my order arrived. At the time that I showed up, the restaurant was probably 80% full so I would say that it was pretty busy for only 2 servers. Just like at another breakfast restaurant that I went to recently, there was a lot of food in the plate that I ordered and the coffee refills were included in the meal. I don't remember the name of the plate that I ordered but it consisted of 2 eggs (which I ordered sunny-side up), 2 pieces of toast, some cubed seasoned fried potatoes, some pork sausages, some bacon, French toast with fruit (strawberry slices and banana slices) & chocolate on it, some apple sauce, and a slice of orange). The 2 eggs weren't cooked as well as I would have likely since close to the yolk there was noticeable uncooked egg white. The bacon was very good and crispy. I liked the pork sausages. The cubed seasoned fried potatoes was okay. This place has free WiFi but you need to ask the wait staff for the password. At first I was given the incorrect password but when my server returned, she gave me the correct password.

I got the salmon eggs Benedict and I think I could say it's the best one I've had. The smoke salmon was better than any other smoked salmon I had in New York. The next time I visit Montreal, I'm definitely coming back here!

Lots of clams meat; it's decorated with 6 clams but there's more if you dig into the pasta. Waitress were friendly. Doesn't take too long for food to come either. The one in Notre Dame was the most convenient next one to visit. The menu is identical, as far as I can tell, and the overall experience is equally enjoyable. There are a few differences compared to the one in Mont-Royal. This one is larger, with a bit more climate/temperature control, and some booths for more comfortable seating when available. The decor is different. You have a different motorcycle on one wall, an elevated shelf of really cool reel-to-reel tape recorders, and a different style of rest room decor. Service and food was slightly different. Earlier this week at the Mont-Royal restaurant, I raved that hot tea came out as steeped leaves. Here, the same type of tea was steeped from traditional tea bags. Also, not all of my breakfast came at the same time. The server promised that the rest would come out "in seconds." After about 300 of those, I let my waiter know I was still missing parts, and he brought them out immediately. None of this is enough to subtract a star. As I mentioned earlier, I hope to get to more of the L'Avenus's, but it's so difficult not to go back to the ones I have already visited and liked.
