This was recommended by friends awhile back, I remembered the modern ambiance, amazing Tapas, friendly service and the place was as busy then until now. For this big restaurant caliber, it's pretty crowded yet they do a good job with a fast turnaround. We did the early Dinner and by the time we got out there was already a long line for late Diners. The fact that even after a decade, it's rare that I go back to the same spot let alone they're still around after all these years. Ended up with the patatas allioli dall negre, croquettes iberic, pop a la gallega, and fruita patata brie. All of the dishes I enjoyed, but my favorites were the Patatas bravas and pop a la gallega. Patatas were cooked perfect, the allioli was rich and flavorful, a nice variation of the patatas bravas. The pop a la gallega was incredible!! In America, I usually get octopus in chirashi bowls at sushi restaurants, and they've always been chewy, rubbery filler items. Here, the octopus was very tender, the whole dish was an absolute incredible balance of flavors and textures. If I came back to Barcelona again I would definitely try and come out to Premià de Mar just to visit this restaurant again! I regret not being able to find time to come back a second time during my trip.

The interior decor looks unchanged since the 1950s - down to the wine-coloured table cloths. The menu is extensive, and is based around the rich stews, meat and seafood of Catalan cuisine. There are a few vegetarian options (eg salads, sautéed wild mushrooms in garlic) but the choice is rather limited. Their speciality is snails, but there is a wide selection of shellfish, including razor clams, squid and octopus. Similarly, carnivores are well catered for, right down to tripe for the more adventurous. (I said it was traditional...) Portions are generous, and there's a menu del dia of two or three courses. A feature is that every table has fresh garlic cloves and tomatoes, and they bring huge great slabs of toasted bread to the table, so you can make your own pa amb tomàquet. I did all right, but to me the point of a restaurant is that they do the work for you, and it is a bit messy. The clientele are locals of all types and ages, though it does skew towards the older generation. Service is reasonably efficient and friendly. The main downside is parking - it's available only on the street and can be a challenge.

Upon seeing us, the staff blatantly stared and gave us dirty looks, and continued to ignore us despite our obvious wishes to be seated. The staff was unhelpful, condescending, and refused to meet us in the middle despite our efforts to close the language barrier. We were treated as outsiders and nuisances, despite being paying customers. Such judge mental attitudes, especially from staff is appalling. Despite it being a local eatery that does not cater to tourists I still cannot understand the rude attitudes.

Well, the restaurant was cute and cozy with a great ambiance. With luck on our side, we found two seats at the bar and quickly ordered drinks. We ordered a pitcher of the sangria (because why not?). The sangria was delicious, refreshing, and made to order. It was definitely more authentic than what we're getting in America. We ordered the patatas bravas, tempura asparagus, the octopus, and the steak. It all came out as it became available. We couldn't decide what our favorite was, to be honest. We ordered an ice cream sandwich for dessert and quickly requested our bill. We didn't want to hold the staff up as we noticed they were cleaning the establishment and people were finishing up.
