I was walking on Brompton from the Natural History Museum to Buckingham Palace and my eyes were drawn to this tea place. The interior is eye-catching and so cute! The ceiling and seating is perfect. I tried the saffron latte with coffee (I was eyeing the Rose Latte but wanted to try something new and I haven't really ever seen a saffron latte before!) It was warm, creamy, milky, and smooth. Highly recommend. The saffron cake was recommended to me as being what they're known for and I didn't see why, it honestly was nothing special. Neither is the service: extremely extremely slow, didn't see me gesturing multiple times, and the table next to me ordered after I did and they got their drinks and baked goods before I did. Immaculately decorated, L'Opera is such a beautiful place with amazing lighting and ambience. I adore the Victorian gold and white essence and the details of the place. I'm a huge fan of well decorated ceilings and they have some nice stuff up there. The staff was nice and attentive to our needs. I was only there for a small snack in which I had a very rich Nutella cake that was delicious. I can't speak for the rest of the menu but I do know they have quite a selection. It seems like a nice little place for High Tea, there's not much of a crowd during the time I went in the afternoon which is nice. read more

just went recently there for coffee and cake (or tea and cake rather). It is an elegant, spacious and affordable venue and was perfect for the occasion. The staff were very courteous and friendly. The décor is lovely. We ordered the red velvet cake and lotus cake. The lotus cake was lovely but the red velvet cake was very disappointing. The icing was very heavy (it should be light with a delicate flavour). However, it tasted strongly of cheese. The cake itself was ok - not great. However, I have to say the other cakes, baklawas and savoury food did look very yummy and I will go again to try! The decor really is quite lovely. We went there for Lunch; we didn't have any expectations on mind as we were passing by chance feeling hungry , yet the look of that place from the outside was very luxurious & rich, we were tempted to see what this place is all about. Yet assuming from that place name we thought it offered french food but once when we were seated we discovered that they serve mediterranean cuisine As to our orders we had 2 different salads, named Taboula & Fatosh; the vegetables were fresh yet they lacked sour & sweet seasoning that the meddteriam cousine salads are known of. 4/10 We also had egg plants mixed with yogurt as one of the starters, it was way better than the salads. 7/10 as for the main dish we shared grilled chicken with rice based upon the waiter suggestion that its the no.1 selling dish they have. Luckily it was the BEST part of the meal & we weren't disappointed For the drinks they didn't have an epic menu of different cocktails , so i had my usual lemon with mint, it was very refreshing & it came in a big glass which was satisfactory. Great lunch spot on a museum day. L'Opera is a great cafe close to the Natural History and V&A museums. I love their Mediterranean style lunch plates where you can choose 3-5 items (salads, main dishes). They also have amazing fresh juices. Salads range from hummus and tzaziki to roast veggies and meat dishes. All the vegetarian options are delicious and you can mix and match any way you like. The staff is friendly and attentive and overall, it's reasonably priced. Highly recommended. (Note to self: must come back to try the cakes) read more

Wonderful flora teas. It is so interesting and engaging to watch the little flower bud bloom in your tea. Especially through a wine glass. The menu for the tea was so descriptive in showing the benefits off each. Also, the chocolate almond cake was so rich and dark. The red velvet had an interesting description. The red was made with real beet root but didn't taste any different from Americas. At least the cake part didn't. The cream in the cake was very good. Not too sweet but not flavorless. The staff was so attentive and friendly and the atmosphere made me feel so warm inside. The only thing I would complain about is the wifi. Even though I was warned it may not work I tried it anyway. My mother and I popped in for a quick snack after coming out of the V&A, we had a large plate of mixed salads which was absolutely delicious and so very fresh and then we had floral tea which was absolutely gorgeous! A small cafe in a nice shopping area. And outdoor tables are always a plus when there is nice weather. There are about four tables located in front of the cafe and lots of dining inside. I ordered a sandwich which came with a small salad that was delicious. My wife order a plate special and inside you can choose three items from an array of couscous, beet salad, tomato salad, tuna, rice, and many, many more. We had the pistachio almond cake displayed in the window which was also very nice. They have a lot of desserts and the whole experience was a great afternoon break. I recommend this if you are in the area shopping and want a nice tea break or go bigger and have lunch. read more

Honestly, I'm shocked to see how well reviewed this place is. The service is alright but other than that this place has nothing going for it. The desserts might be better, I tried the Turkish delight and wasn't a fan but the dinner food is awful. Perhaps even worse than the food is the atmosphere. My table and chairs were so small I felt like a giant and there is no consistency in the decor. I felt like some weird 90's music video could have been filmed there. The entire time I was eating here I could only think of 2 things: this food isn't good and I'm so confused by where the hell I am. From the outside, looks like a lovely place to enjoy a cup of tea along with scones. From the inside, the door was held open, allowing the freezing cold wind to chill everybody (including the customers who were seated by the door and who had to eat with their coats on...). As I already have a cold, we asked the waitress to be seated far from the entrance and pointed to an empty area: she explained it was booked and we had to sit by the main alley, facing the open door. Few minutes later, the table we pointed to was given to a couple who had just arrived and who had not booked... ?! We ordered an Opera Cocktail, although the waitress wasn't keen to explain what it was made of exactly (fresh fruits including apple and pear as we were told). Although it was good, I wouldn't have called it the House cocktail for £5 each. As for the scones, they were served warm and were very tasty. It helped me forget the poor customer service and the incredible bill (£6.50 for two scones; don't expect it to be written on the menu; it says "pastries from £2.50" and "fresh juices from £4.50. For more specific prices, I guess you need to be friends with the owners). The gentleman at the till (probably the owner) explained the scones were the cheapest in the area because Harrods serves it for £12. Yes. But Harrods don't make you eat in a cold environment and their waitresses are actually kind and care for their service. In other terms, I will never go back: for that kind of prices, you would expect minimum customer service which we did not get at all. Disapointing. read more

Daylight ROBBERY !! Please avoid L'Opera Brompton Road. I was working there for a while therefore what I am telling you is 100% true and it is totally shocking. If you have been to L'Opera on Brompton road then you would know that they don't have menus or displayed prices. The reason is that the owner, Mr. Hamed, have instructed the day manager Ana and the evening manager Ahmed to charge costumers 2 different prices, one for normal looking customers and a much higher one for rich, especially Arab customers. The evening clientele is mostly Arabs. The manager even decides where the customers are seated; the back area is reserved for rich Arab victims where they get charged up to triple normal prices. The owner and his Managers are very rude to customers when they start questioning their bills or complain about food quality. Also, The food is not fresh; it is just heated in a microwave. The Owner and his managers are running a SCAM, I was shocked that this is even possible to happen in London and in such a posh area, a few minutes from Harrods. read more

The food was fresh, delicious and available quickly which was perfect as we were looking for a quick lunch. The restaurant is very conveniently located. We found it on our way from the V&A to Harrods. We spoke with the owners of the establishment and we could feel the passion for the food in their conversation. We were quite surprised to learn the restaurant was newly opened (4 mos). The operation seemed smooth for such a young outlet. I highly recommend L'Opera. Bravo! read more
