This place never disappoints, the rudest wait staff on Hampton Beach. Definitely the last time there.

went in for the breakfast buffet. took 15 minutes for anyone to acknowledge us. All six of us chose buffet. they were out of everything. no eggs, no bacon, no sausage, no eggs, no home fries, no hashbrowns. I brought it to our servers attention. Waited another half hour and then set our plates down and didn't eat as they hadn't brought any food out. I paid for three and told them I wasn't paying for the others. was charged for two chocolate milks and a Bloody Mary we never received . i ended up paying $92.00 for six buffets that we never ate. stay away! read more

One of the rudest bartenders I have ever had the displeasure of being served by. It was truly shocking and she laughed when I expressed how disappointed I was. Other patrons remarked that "there's another unhappy customer!" And they all thought it was hilarious. It's a very awkward place. The bar is in the basement. The food should be better for what you're paying. They often get cheap on the portions too, and they serve drinks out of plastic cups. It's just pitiful. The owner is never even there and he loves hiring sexually-attractive women to try to boost sales because most people only come here to hit on the bartenders anyways. Be very careful if you leave your credit card with the inside bar crew. Earlier this week I came in with 3 other people all drinking beers. We all sat around the bar and during this time 2 of us paid a round with cash and I paid 1 round with my credit card. When it came time to settle my bill the bartender got defensive and decided to tell me 'we cannot reverse this charge but here is $17 cash...'. Each beer we ordered was $6. The conversation got a bit heated when the other bartender came over to further assist which led the female bartender to call me a c$nt. Yes those were the words she used. The Bouncer standing nearby said 'I think its time you leave...'. Sure ok I paid the tab and left the building. About 10min later my friend came out looking for me and asked the outside Bouncer if he had seen me which led to a conversation where he responded with 'Let me guess, she got over charged'. Yes, she did. Yesterday, I had to close my credit card because after I signed and paid my bill the bleach blonde decided it was OK to charge an additional $40 on my card. I have a lot of friends who support this bar including their entertainment . I will never spend another dollar here. BE VERY CAREFUL. The bar wasn't even that busy and neither bartender looked enthusiased about working their shift. read more

Went here because they have a prime rib dinner special for $12.99 on Thursday's. The food sucked, my other half ordered a turkey sandwich and it smelled spoiled. Again the food sucked, however our waitress was very personable. So bad food but great customer service. I will not be returning. read more

Stopped in after the season was over and had a good experience. The food was solid, and the menu had enough variety for a casual spot like this. I had the cod on an entree, and my companion had the chicken wrap. Both were solid choices. It has that dive-bar-plus vibe, laid-back but with some energy. Service was good on my visit. Staff were friendly and kept things moving. Inside, there is a basement bar that hosts live music. The setup is fun, but the room is small, and the volume gets pretty loud. It was tough to have a conversation once the artist started playing, so keep that in mind if you're going and want to have a date. The outdoor patio with fire tables looked like a great place to hang out during warmer months. I can see this place being a lively go-to in season, and it still holds up off-season for a casual meal and a drink. Would come back to drink and/or eat, but not on a date. We are regulars at the L. Have always enjoyed their food and drinks at reasonable prices. However today the drinks have spiked in price. A mixed drink off their menu was $16 today. I believe that is the highest price for a simple mixed drink now on the beach. A bucket is $27 there and at another establishment just $16. It's not Hawaii but Hampton L Street. Service was almost nonexistent there as well out on the patio. If you didn't go to the bar for drinks you may never have gotten served. At least they are opening a larger patio soon and it looks like they will be adding larger tables and much more comfortable chairs. At least that is something. read more

It's often a fun place, but this summer is 100% different. The skeleton crew waitstaff is a big issue and it has been in the past. TOo often I have to get a drink at the bar rather than at my outdoor seat. It's the management I blame, not the waitstaff/batenders. They are set up to fail as Jon Taffer would say. The drink prices are staggeringly high for such a location. A rumrunner last year was $10. A 32oz. bucket was $22. Not they are 25% higher! Seems like they are overpricing the drinks to pay for their expansion. Just put more waitstaff on per shift. You can make a lot more money that way than gouging the faithful customers. I estimate you're losing $1000+ an hour during the times you have entertainment. Be smart! read more

A dimly lit basement. Repulsive bathrooms. Food is meh, drinks meh, bartenders fine, karoke can get pretty lit, but ultimately the bouncers in this place are actually awful. I've gone here 3 times this season and each time I've been completely sober and been jostled by their bouncers one time being pushed into the doorframe so hard that my back hurt for 2 days. I wouldn't say I look like I'm a bad guy but they did this to all the obviously gay men we had in our party the 3rd night after we waited in line and they didn't jostle or talk hostile to anyone getting in before us. It was gays night out and we came here and the lesbian woman in our party were let in respectfully just the gay men and trans woman were pushed and barked at unlike the people before us. Maybe put your feelers out if you're queer and thinking of going here. I certainly will not be back. read more

Service was worst I've ever had. Waitress swore at us from start after saying she's taking our id's to back after getting checked at bouncer. I told her this and her response was "I don't give a fuck" . Great way to talk to customers!! Then came back claiming our real ids were fake swearing at us to gtfo. Terrible service. Don't cuss at customers and treat them like shit if u don't want to be cussed at. I will never being going here again and will be letting all my friends and family know about this place. Even after the owner or manager verified ids were real we weren't let back in. Crazy how she swears at us and treats us terrible and there is no consequences and only consequences for the customer that was treated poorly because we gave her the same energy back. Go see Kerry Ann! She is the best bartender! Off the street you go down a few steps and into a small but cozy place. It fills up fast because it is a hopping place to hang out. There is an outside smoking area where ppl can bring their drinks. There is an upstairs for dining and tables towards the back as well as the bar. I really enjoyed the BBQ ribs. They are served with a wet BBQ sauces. Mentioning this as some like dry rubs. They have music, karaoke, tv's, Keno machine (DIY) so stop in and say hi! read more

Felt like we had been coming there for years, she treated us so well, made us a fantastic, light drink, and recommended we get the southern Mac and cheese, which was AMAZING. Do not come here if you don't want to be discriminated against by middle aged racist patrons. As soon as we walked in, my friends and I were criticized for wearing masks. Then when my friends sat down in some open seats next to an older couple, they asked "why are 'these people' here" and said that the only way to deal with "these people" is with a revolver. Food is normally pretty good. Went with 4 people on Halloween weekend (huge mistake). Waited for a table for quite a while (even though there was plenty available just all covered in food and cigarettes) and the waitress kept telling us "we are changing the bar over hold on". On top of the fact she looked like a 55 year old strung out meth addict she was also incredibly rude. The table was finally wiped off and she continued to give us an attitude. We ate and then left and we did tip her because I figured she had to pay her probation officer or she needed the money to take her sponsor for coffee. I'm not gonna sit here and promote the cuisine like it's 5* or some shit. It's the atmosphere. How humble and DECENT the staff and bouncers are. I've been here a dozen times now. Not only have I been treated well, I've witnessed others treated well also. Inclusive environment containing every demographic under the sun. Great outdoor dining area, surprisingly talented live performers etc. The cherry on top, burgers and breakfast sandwiches being sold for $5 apiece after last call. I went there this afternoon with my daughter and her wife and I am absolutely disgusted with the service at this establishment as well as the manager's (Jake) "problem solving" After experiencing some of the worst homophobia and racism, as well as misgendering, I've seen in a long time, my daughter in law called the owner and he offered us a free appetizer while laughing at her on the phone. I am absolutely disgusted by the staff and the owner and would never recommend anyone to come to this restaurant if you're not Caucasian and heterosexual. I have always loved L St. Tavern but now I'm the biggest fan evah! They are great all year round. Food is great, drinks are delicious and the outside area is sublime. My siblings and I recently had a 50th Wedding Anniversary Party for our parents and L St. was perfect. We rented out the second floor and the food and set-up was absolutely perfect! We couldn't have asked for a better place or time! I contacted one of the owners Jake and he was so accommodating and easy to talk with via phone/text. My family and I can't thank the owners Jake and Terry enough for everything they did for us. Along with the entire staff!! Shout out to Susie- best bartender ever and all the Security!! My husband and I love this Tavern! We mostly go in the off season due to the crowds, but it's always a great time! The daily specials are amazing in addition to the regular menu that has your favorite bar food offerings! If you are looking for something really special order the filet on a stone! My husband said it was the best thing since sliced bread. Service is great! They have a loyal staff who are very attentive and the bar tenders make great drinks ! Do not recommend if your going for food if your just there for drinks and gambling you will be fine. Kalie a waitress was not a friendly she was singing about how she could not wait to be done her shift. We had six people did not order alcoholic drinks and she ignored us. Ordered the fisherman's platter marker priced was supposed to come with scallops did not. When we asked she didn't care or apologized and did not lower the price she quoted us when we ordered.
