This is a vintage brick building facing Elliot Bay on Western Ave. a few blocks from El Gaucho's former space. Gone is that funky blue facade and El Gaucho sign. The new space is amazing with high ceilings, an energetic bar area, an open visible kitchen, a large primary dining area, and several private dining spots. From the valet and front of the house to the waiters, El Gaucho provided a welcoming environment! There was only one valet personnel working this Friday night so we had to wait a bit before he returned from the parking area to take our key. Once inside, we were seated immediately. Our server, Sarah and colleagues, were very personable and welcoming, and provided us with exceptional service which made our experience great! El Gaucho sets a romantic mood with its dimly lit interior, white table cloths, tailored waiters, and pianist playing in the background. We started our dinner with glasses on sauvignon blanc and blood orange old fashioned, and a dozen local oysters which were delicious! Next up were our entrees. My wife chose a couple of appetizers, the Wicked Shrimp (which had a nice spicy sauce) and the Diver Sea Scallops which included pommes puree, picatta topping, and lemon beurre blanc. Both of these dishes were excellently prepared and tasted great! Before arriving, I had already decided I was going to try the Canadian Lobster Tail (for those who have followed my reviews are aware, we are pescatarians). At El Gaucho there are several opportunities to enjoy a tableside presentation (caesar salad, flaming sword, Steak Diane, Chateaubriand, baked potato, and a couple desserts). So, the 18 oz Lobster Tail (accompanied with drawn butter and lemon) and baked potato were excellent prepared and presented tableside! We didn't do dessert on this occasion but definitely will on our next visit. We were presented with an after dinner ensemble of grapes, pears, and crackers. I must say the execution in the kitchen for our dinner was excellent as each entree was seasoned appropriately and not overcooked. Kudos to Executive Chef Joe and his team!! The only disappointment is that those wonderful views of Elliot Bay are no longer viewable from inside the new location but that's okay because the food, service, and inside ambiance are first rate.

The new location is just north of the Pike Market and Cloudburst Brewery on Western Ave where parking can be challenging. The great news is El Gaucho has valet parking so I drive up to door and let them handle that problem. The interior of course is low-light so get ready if it's late afternoon before sunset for you to go blind from bright light to darkness which is one of the things that makes El Gaucho special. We like to go to special events at El Gaucho where valet is complementary then follow the event with a meal. We have found that ordering the Chateubriand 20oz and share to be the best value and have never been disappointed as always perfectly cooked. The cocktails are top quality and service is impecible. Another plus is you can join their Revelers Club and get points, invites to special events and redeem points toward meal cost.

Cocktails were excellent--especially the mixed berry Moscow mule, which had a subtle berry flavor with just a hint of vanilla. I ordered the Land & Sea, and it was fantastic. The filet was incredibly tender, and the porcini demi-glace added a rich, savory depth that paired perfectly with the steak. The mashed potatoes were creamy and satisfying. One thing to note: there's a 20% service charge automatically added to the bill (not including tip), which does make the meal pricier. Luckily, since we were staying at the hotel, we used our $25 food & beverage credit here.

The area was large and work friendly with plenty of space to plug in and set up your laptop. The bartenders were super nice and helpful, so I decided to come back for lunch the following day. They have a brunch menu that's really good. I had the avocado toast, which was a very large portion and delicious. They even let me sub the potatoes for the fries, which was awesome. Food was fresh and cooked perfectly. I would definitely come back!

The garlicky oily dipping sauce added even more flavor to the savory empanadas and gave me dragon breath all day but it was so worth it! There is a good amount of seating here. I love the futbol decor and airiness of the place. There is some lot parking out front and street parking is also an option and where I found parking. The only downside to my experience coming here recently is how they forgot to include my ham & cheese empanada in the to go box that was nicely packaged and sealed so I couldn't check to see if it was there until I unpacked my order and found that it was not there. I didn't want to deal with the hassle of calling them to get a refund for it or drive back for it. Also, I don't feel like giving them one less star right now on this review because of it. I'm considering it this time as a natural human error and donation to this nice small business. Hopefully, they will be more careful and efficient my next visit because their product was very tasty and I do want go back there again soon to try more.

Walking in, it was nice to see the space reconfigured to allow more kitchen and pastry case space. Plus the interior is a lot more warmer with wall color and vibrant art work which is enhanced by the natural light. This makes for a more pleasant dining area. I was kind of overwhelmed with the immense selection and variety in the wrap around pastry case. I'm glad that the counter person was patient with me as I seriously gave consideration since clearly I can't say - one of each please, lol. I ended up exercising restraint and selected two ham and cheese empanadas with chimichurri and two chocolate covered chocolate alfajores with dulce de leche as takeout. The Homie ate one empanada with chimichurri later that day. I ate mine the next day with the remaining chimichurri. We can both attest that the quality has remained despite the near five year hiatus. The alfajores also was delicious, no surprise there. Next visit, I'm going to inquire further about the assortment of pastries in the front pastry case. There was no individual signage displayed during my visit. Again, glad to see another indie business survive post-pandemic and during these challenging economic times.

Moons ago, my friend and I drove across one state to hunt for empanadas --- that's how badly we wanted one. Seattle -- you don't have to work that hard. "LOVE" is real close by! WESTERN WA & BEYOND: Go to LAKE CITY for the most SAVORY & SWEET empanadas!! The empanadas are HUGE but most of all, DELICIOUS! Walk in, take in the glorious aromas! Breathe it in. It's pure joy! We eat with our eyes. I was mesmerized by the baked good display. It is a very thoughtful, organized and wonderfully presented food items presentation. So much love goes into making these baked delights! Still, that's not where it ends-- look at my pictures. There are many goodies to choose from. Don't drool too hard. Just get there and order a box of many! This place has an OLD WORLD CHARM. In a small way, I fell in love with the decorations, colors, the smell of warm sugar, the space ... I talked the few customers present. Every person said roughly the same thing, "TRY EVERYTHING. You can't go wrong. It's all amazing. Sweet or savory. No matter." Everything is HAND-MADE. The bakery is small but the space, display, warm and welcoming. I found street parking -- no problem. I was waiting for my dog to get bathed and groomed nearby. Found myself wanting a snack. Just needed a little something to hold me over until a real meal. Had no idea that my beef [there is also chicken, many more flavors] empanada is a MEAL in itself. The man who waits on you knows his products very well even though it takes a few seconds for him to WARM UP to you. Still, he is a wonderful, friendly & hard working man. An amazing shop speaks for itself when you walk in. I'd drive across state lines to eat at SEATANGO! Try it and see how you like it. I suspect, like any place -- going OFF PEAK times will garnish you more attention by the wait staff. Still, don't wait to go. Go to Seatango now ... no regrets! PS -- Please Understand. This is my first time ever giving a WA bakery 5 stars.
