Time to update another Yelp post since my previous visit to Seatango Foods was back on 6/1/21. On my way to Bothell via Lake City Way to Hwy 522, I was able to snag a parking lot close to Seatango (3/27/26). Walking in, it was nice to see the space reconfigured to allow more kitchen and pastry case space. Plus the interior is a lot more warmer with wall color and vibrant art work which is enhanced by the natural light. This makes for a more pleasant dining area. I was kind of overwhelmed with the immense selection and variety in the wrap around pastry case. I'm glad that the counter person was patient with me as I seriously gave consideration since clearly I can't say - one of each please, lol. I ended up exercising restraint and selected two ham and cheese empanadas with chimichurri and two chocolate covered chocolate alfajores with dulce de leche as takeout. The Homie ate one empanada with chimichurri later that day. I ate mine the next day with the remaining chimichurri. We can both attest that the quality has remained despite the near five year hiatus. The alfajores also was delicious, no surprise there. Next visit, I'm going to inquire further about the assortment of pastries in the front pastry case. There was no individual signage displayed during my visit. Again, glad to see another indie business survive post-pandemic and during these challenging economic times. read more

Just get there and order a box of many! This place has an OLD WORLD CHARM. In a small way, I fell in love with the decorations, colors, the smell of warm sugar, the space ... I talked the few customers present. Every person said roughly the same thing, "TRY EVERYTHING. You can't go wrong. It's all amazing. Sweet or savory. No matter." Everything is HAND-MADE. The bakery is small but the space, display, warm and welcoming. I found street parking -- no problem. I was waiting for my dog to get bathed and groomed nearby. Found myself wanting a snack. Just needed a little something to hold me over until a real meal. Had no idea that my beef [there is also chicken, many more flavors] empanada is a MEAL in itself. The man who waits on you knows his products very well even though it takes a few seconds for him to WARM UP to you. Still, he is a wonderful, friendly & hard working man. An amazing shop speaks for itself when you walk in. I'd drive across state lines to eat at SEATANGO! Try it and see how you like it. I suspect, like any place -- going OFF PEAK times will garnish you more attention by the wait staff. Still, don't wait to go. Go to Seatango now ... no regrets! PS -- Please Understand. It's hard to find quality empanadas in this town. Most are soft, doughy, bland fillings & disappointing. Seatango's empanadas are a game changer! These flaky, crispy on the outside, on the inside you'll discover evenly proportioned perfectly seasoned, savory fillings full of substantial ingredients are just simply delightful! We got the ground beef, the chicken and ham&cheese options and believe you me, there's nothing 'nada about these empanadas. The shop is conveniently located on Lake City Way, modest size seating area and noticeably filled with South American patrons speaking in Spanish to the business owner. This place is legit! Tucked in a Lake City neighborhood, this place is quite a hidden gem and a local business worth visiting. This place serves mostly empanadas and Argentine pastries, all of which were pretty solid. I got 2 empanadas (beef and breakfast - bacon egg cheese) and an alfajor cookie sandwich. The empanadas were flaky and delicious with generous amounts of fillings. I liked the beef the most based on flavor profile, but the breakfast one is good if you wanted a fairly hearty empanada. Don't forget to get the chimichurri which is a $1 add on that's worthwhile. The alfajor cookie sandwich (alfajores) has dulce de leche filling and it was not unbearably sweet compared to the ones I had in Buenos Aires grocery stores, so I enjoyed it. I personally wouldn't go out of my way since I don't like extra sweet desserts, but it's worth to try at least once. Along busy Lake City Way, it might be easy to miss this place. But don't! I've yet to have an empanada there I don't like, and love grabbing a couple for lunch. But don't forget their alfajores, which are traditional Argentine pastries, almost like large macaroons, but not nearly as expensive. And so tasty. Definitely worth a try. Seatango is run by the nicest people, and it's on a part of LCW where parking is relatively easier to findAlways a nice selection of freshly baked ones, and I have tried the beef and chicken and both were fantastic - very flavorful, moist and plump. Definitely add on the chimichurri sauce and finish with an alfajor (also a great selection) - it's a perfect meal. My daughter and I discovered this gem when we decided to walk to school today. It was hidden and can't really tell it's a pastry shop but the smell made me go back and check. My grandaughter and I wanted to visit the Lake City Fred Meyers. Got what we needed. We walked past Seattle Tango and I was immediately drawn to the colorful display of pastries. Usually not a big pastry fan. Onward to Fred Meyer. But the images of these pastries haunted my thoughts, as I bought practical items at Fred Meyer. My granddaughter and I had to go back to Seattle Tango, or my stomach would not be happy. On entering the store, there were so many other items I had not seen from the street. I was hungry. So, overwhelmed by the many selections I could get. Decided on a spinach empanada and a beef empanada. The gentleman behind the counter was very helpful in describing each pastry. There must have been at least30 different items. The kind of variety, where you just want to choose one of everything. They all looked fresh and delicious, I got an incredible flan, as to the owner's recommendation. The empanadas had intense flavors, accented by the crust and chimichurri sauce. That chimichurri sauce was so flavorful. I had a bit left over and combined it with baked chicken and it complimented the chicken so nicely.The flan had lovely notes of lemon. We got our items to go, as my granddaughter was impatient. But there were several tables of blissful customers, obviously throughly enjoying their food. They had a meringue topped dessert tart and some cookies that still occupy my thoughts. Will come back to try more. read more

Came here after some apple picking and thought the food was pretty good. We will definitely be back to try their other foods. Parking is limited to street parking only. It looks like the lady is training a new hire so it was a little slow. But they are really nice. I originally wanted the Italiano and the tuna empanada but both was not available so we ended up with the following: - beef empanada - standard, has a piece of olive in there so the flavor was unique - ham and cheese - another standard one -onions -- this is my favorite as it has a sweet and savory flavor. - egg and spinach ---fluffyband stuffed, a little bland but not bad. The chimichurri sauce that they give you is probably the star. We literally was dipping it with everything. The mild and spicy was both good. Maybe the empanadas was made a little bland so you can dip it?? Who cares, it was good :) oh and I love that they have the name of their store on the empanadas We also got a croissant because it looks different and it was delicious. I have had the pleasure of popping into Seatango a few times, for savory empanadas and/or delightful pastries. The woman who runs the show always is delightful. I almost always get a double espresso while I'm there. I think that she uses a fully automated machine so for a strong cuppa it's fine for me; I can get my artisan espresso fix elsewhere. Great service, and even better empanadas... We have 4 empanadas to go last weekend. The person serving us made sure we could recognize the markings/indicators for each flavor and how to tell which chimichurri was regular and which one was spicy. The beef, four cheese and ham, spicy tuna and corn empanadas were all good. I think the tuna one was my favorite. Normally I wait to savor and think about the food experience before I write a 5-star review for restaurants but in the case of Seatango I could not wait! I ordered the 3-empanada combo through GrubHub and it comes with your choice of can soda and a chimichurri sauce. I ordered the spicy cheese and onion empanada and two spinach empanadas. My items arrived hot and fresh with an ice cold soda. How they managed to keep the food hot and the drink cold I'm not sure but I'm so glad they figured it out! I had been excited to try this place for months so I'm glad I was finally able to have their delicious eats! My gold standard that I compare all empanadas to come from Julia's empanadas in the nation's capital. I always loved the large portion sizes and the flaky fresh baked version of these and could not find a comparable empanada. Alas, Seatango has done it! An update. Seatango now has its own freestanding location in Lake City (after a startup incubation at Tukwila's Spice Bridge). Hurrah! This couple has worked towards this for decades and deserves support. The food is amazing, and these two do it all (for now...hopefully, they can get an employee or two soon). One comment. While we where there I observed two or three people who entered, heard Monica speaking Spanish to someone, and turned and walked out. Hey, they speak English too. How petty do you have to be to walk out simply because the owner is speaking Spanish to a customer who chose to speak to her in Spanish. Wow. We had some empanadas, which were even better than they used to be. Transcendent. The chimichurri sauce made them even more so. And there are some new empanada flavors like spicy tuna, and corn, and spicy onions and cheese. The old favorites are still there too. We also had a choripán. That's a deceptively simple (bread, sausage, and chimichurri) but exceptionally delicious Argentinean sandwich. The secret is the kind of bread, the particular sausage, the perfectly crafted chimichurri, and the technique for constructing it all. It was superb. Carried out many facturas, some alfajores, and more empanadas. Be patient. They just opened, there are only two people (the owners), and they still (for now) live a long ways away from the cafe (that's why they close at 4pm for now). How could anyone give Seatango less than 5 stars? What an absolute gem in Lake City, with beautiful, fresh empanadas encased in flaky, fresh dough and served with either regular or spicy chimichurri so good it inspired me to learn the recipe (I have not succeeded in replicating theirs). We are mostly vegetarian and they have lots of vegetarian options. Kid-friendly. Our toddler loves both the empanadas and the chimichurri. read more

3.5 stars but i want to give it a four for potential. I drove here to this small easy to miss bakery for empanadas and their alfajores I got 3 flavors in empanadas, chicken, onion and cheese and corn. The bake on pastry was inconsistent. The corn one were crispiest but the cheese &onion werre soggy and chicken one was bit underdone at bottom. I cam see the cheese and corn one could get soggy because of the steam from fillings. Flavor of filling wise my favorite was cheese one. The spicy chimichurri on side was just perfect I tried this other cookie kind of pastry first time here called alfajores. I loved the coconut chocolate one a lot. I also tried another one i forgot the name of in lemon flavor but alfajores were my favorite here. Nice stop! There's 1hr street parking out front, there was no line when I stopped by at midday on a weekday, and the items I got were ready made so I was in and out very quick. Got the Empanada Combo (3 savory empanadas and a drink) with Beef, Ham and Cheese, and Chicken, and a yerba mate tea ("Mah-teh" the National drink of Argentina, a caffeine rich, medium dark, herbaceous tea). The Ham and Cheese (very cheesy and creamy) and the Chicken (mildly spiced and delicious) empanadas were my fave but everything we got there was good! They may ask if you'd like chimichurri (a fresh vinaigrette with garlic and herbs and a little kick) with the empanadas- go for it! They go really really well together, takes it to the next level. Tucked away mom n' pop in an unassuming spot in Lake City. Stopped by a week ago, squarely in mid November (2021), to pick up a couple of empanadas for my (takeout) lunch and an assortment of 1/2 dozen facturas to go with later afternoon tea with my family. My coworker recommended this shop to me. If you like empanadas, you must give this place a try. We ordered one of each empanada flavor. They were out of one flavor, but I can't remember which one. All I remember is that the spicy onion & cheese and spicy tuna flavors were my favorite, and I would highly recommend getting extras of those. I would also recommend getting the chimichurri sauce. The sauce was so insanely delicious and took the empanadas to another level. I also tried one of their pineapple pastries and dulce de leche desserts. I really liked the pineapple pastry, as it was not overwhelmingly sweet and was very light and flaky. Stopped by at around 3pm on a Saturday and there was no line. They had a good selection of pastries and empanadas left. My boyfriend got a beef empanada with chimichurri sauce and I ordered a alfajore and raspberry thumbprint cookie. Total price was about $10. The alfajore is bigger than I expected, almost as big as my palm. It was beautifully crumbly and the filling was smooth and buttery. The raspberry thumbprint cookie had a nice tart raspberry filling and was also a good size and thickness. The empanada was delicious--nice flaky pastry, well-seasoned meat, and great chimichurri sauce that my boyfriend said "enhanced" his experience. When I walked in, the couple ahead of me was Argentine, speaking with the Argentine owners (I lived in Argentina years ago and recognize the accent). That is a good sign. I liked the empanadas and facturas (pastries), but to be honest I was not blown away. They were good, as good as anything I've had in the U.S. but not quite what you would get in Buenos Aires. However, they had a "double chocolate" alfajor that was the best alfajor I've ever had, BA included. I very strongly recommend this. read more

If you have traveled to Argentina many times, as I have, then you know the real thing when you taste it and Seatango Foods is the only real Argentine food in Seattle. Well worth the drive. Latin food goes way beyond Mexican food. That is why you need to try some Argentinian food. Seatango has amazing food and pastries. Their empanadas are to die for. We got 3 different types of empanadas, a choripan, and a milanesa sandwich. The empanadas were so good that we ended up getting some extra ones to go. The sausage in choripan was very soft which made it perfect. The owners told us that in the morning they have breakfast empanadas.
