Food: This is probably the best Mexican around. I ordered the chimichanga and it exceeded all my expectations. I would highly recommend, especially because it comes with rice and beans. The beef inside tasted very authentic, not to mention delicious. my Sister also got the burrito and enjoyed it a lot. It was very big. The complementary chips and salsa are also a highlight because it's the only salsa I actually like. They also have a small complementary topping and dip bar where you try all kinds of different salsas and other dips and also grab lettuce and limes for you entrée. Over all: food is 9/10 Service: As soon as we walked in a waitress came up to us and seated us. We did not have to wait. She asked us what we wanted to drink. We both got water, but it had lemons in it so it felt fancy. We got our drinks and we're able to order fairly quickly. After we ordered our meal also came very quickly. Our server was very nice and smiley and we got checked on a few times. (Once when we went here our server had this really cool mustache and it honestly just made the whole experience better.) over all: service 9/10 Ambience: The environment is very nice, like if you dress up fancy, you wouldn't feel out of place but you also feel it wouldn't feel out of place if you dressed casual. It doesn't feel cramped but it also isn't overly big. They have lights on the ceiling that moved to the beat of the music that's quietly plain, which is very neat. The fake plants on top of the lights dangling down at a very neat effect. Makes me feel like I'm in Mexico! Food was very good. We moved up here from the southwest years ago. Such a pleasant surprise to get some authentic Mexican food. The menu is mostly Al a cart. Prices are fair. Service is superb. What a little gem. Great service here with very friendly staff. Order what ever you like it is all super tasty. Very authentic Order at counter and pay. Sit down and they bring your order out. High quality food. I would give 6 out of 5. They had every option of authentic meat, and all were delicious and well cooked. I recently had shrimp ceviche in Milwaukee which was watery salsa with a few small pieces of shrimp. Their ceviche was loaded with shrimp, avocado and fresh vegetables. Friendly staff and the best salsa bar my fat ass has ever seen in MN or WI, it includes at least 5 house made sauces (the white sauce was amazing) all of the sauces were very good. But to have cheese and sour cream included on a salsa bar is unheard of in my vast experience as an elite food reviewer! Okay. Fast food ordering with a restaurant/bar menu, yet small amount of seating. The entrance is not clearly marked, a lot of people went to the doors on either side. Once you enter, you wait in line to order (fast food style). They have adult beverages. You'll order and pay and carry your drinks to a free table if you can find one (and a large margarita came in a styrofoam cup with no lid). The person taking your order won't tell you that utensils and napkins are something you get yourself at a tiny area behind a partition. You get a buzzer so you know when to go up and grab your entrees, and if you want refills there aren't servers so good luck waiting in line for more chips or drink refills. You buss your own table when you are done. We did get chips, salsa and queso. The chips & salsa were good, queso was so-so. We went with Burritos Asada and Burritos Mexicanos (chicken). Both were bland. If you go at dinner time, don't expect to relax due to the lack of seating. Get ready to have a line of coyotes in line that have already ordered, watching your every move so they can snap up your table as soon as you leave. Seating is so slim that The Voice royalty was there with his family and had barely stood up when La Autentica employees ran to push the tables and chairs apart and make room for the coyotes. You walk in and order at the counter, seat yourself and they bring your food to you at your table. There were a lot of workers there eating lunch, that tells you the food is good. I saw a lot of lunch plates and they looked amazing. They also have a small buffet of items and wasn't sure what that was all about? I went for the steak burrito and asked for no rice in it. Why in WI does every Mexican restaurant add rice to burritos (gross)? The burrito was $15.99 omg so expensive! And it wasn't even a meal! I noticed after sitting down I didn't have silverware, so I looked around and noticed a small buffet bar in the back corner with sides and found my silverware. Not sure what the buffet was for or if it was included in my meal. I did not take anything because I had no clue? Didn't take long and there it was - I looked down and the burrito was covered in white cheese sauce. Why when you order Mexican food in Wisconsin they cover it in cheese sauce (ugh)? All I tasted was that salty cheese sauce, I couldn't taste the burrito! I would stop again but order something else and ask to not cover my food in salty cheese sauce! So happy to have this place in Rice Lake! Their name says it all, as it pertains to tacos. They have a lot of options that you don't typically see in americanized mexican places - tripe, beef cheek, heart, etc. I'm not going to pretend that I tried any of these, I was just glad to see them because I know they're hard to find. I've had a few of their tacos now, but I always seem to gravitate back to the barbacoa. The meat really is fantastic so I highly recommend this one! They have a free, self service salsa bar that could really be a lunch in itself, although I wouldn't recommend trying this. Other unique offerings: michelada style beer, jarrito's in several flavors, and two or three flavors of agua fresca. I have yet to catch them with tamarindo agua fresca but they've always had horchata and jamaica. Would I return/recommend? When visiting family in Rice Lake we happened upon this quick casual restaurant. By far one of the most authentic Latin places around. As vegan diners we we happy they have the option for their tacos, bowls and burritos to make them with a veggie mix as a protein option. Their corn tortillas taste homemade, in fact everything is a flavor explosion for your mouth. Our favorite part of the restaurant is the salsa bar. It's now been months and not weeks of being open and wow has this place improved. At this point I have tried many more things and have yet to be disappointed. I discovered their Al Pastor and it's FANTASTIC!!! Their take on a torta is a much appreciated. The alambres is the newest thing I tried and it delivers one heck of a meal. They are a giant plate of your choice of meat, with bacon, peppers and onions; loaded with cheese; and placed on top of 8 tortillas. Basically this one meal is 8 tacos in one meal. Perfect meal for two to share. Just don't forget to top it with their amazing, fresh salsas. I can't give this place enough props. I think it's the new MUST in Rice Lake and even in Barron County. read more

Everything tasted very fresh. The prices were very reasonable. They gave us one wrong taco and immediately replaced it with the correct one at no charge.
