Actual authentic French food that is absolutely delicious!! Nothing else compares to the food and baked goods they offer. Which they were open on Sundays though.

I stopped by quickly to have a quick chai latte, and it was nice. I took a bunch of macaroons which I loved. Amandine was a nice pastry snack. I think it had the almond filling. Overall, I loved this place.

I love coming to La Baguette. The variety of treats are fantastic. Great place to meet up with a friend while you have delicious food. Their citron tart is a delight!

Walking into La Baguette feels like you're stepping into France. The French decor, the French music, and the amazing display of French pastries. They have a cute dining area where you can enjoy breakfast or lunch. The staff is very friendly. The menu includes traditional French cuisine including crepes, sandwiches, pastries, soup, and more. One of my favorite spots in Madison!

Good food! Prices are a little bit high, and the shopkeepers can be a little bit cranky, but I guess that's expected of the French ha ha. They have a lot of good pastries that are relatively authentic, and also some nonsweet things, like quiches. They also have crêpes on Saturday, and they must amazing thick, hot chocolate ever. It's definitely a nice morning outing on a weekend.

I came here everytime I came to Madison for their French Onion Soup (FOS) and also for their pastries. My boyfriend likes their FOS and I get why. It's pretty good with lots of cheese, flavorful caramelized sliced onions, it has a really great flavor. I love almond croissants and of course, I had to try one here. It was pretty good. So moist inside and yet its crunchy outside with all the almond flakes. I tried one from Madison Sourdough and I like theirs a lot better. To add, I feel that pastries sold here ar La Baguette are a little too expensive but its good enough so I let that slide. I am just used to eating Porto's Bakery's Almond Croissants that are a little over a dollar back home in Southern California. The girl working here nice. She's friendly, fast and knows what shes doing. I didnt like the owner's attitude though. He would greet all other customers but us. I hate being treated differently. In fact, when I went to Europe, I also visited Paris, France. They were definitely not the friendliest people I have seen visiting 6 different countries in Europe. This one guy tried to break my brother's 2-days-old M4 side mirror just because we didnt have any cash to give him. That was such an experience that I dont have good memory in France. Anyway, sorry for all that random story but I really didnt like the owner's attitude but other than that, it was all OK. Its also very convenient for me to come here since its very close by.

Service was fantastic, and very accommodating. The ambiance was very nice…read more But overall, the food was very disappointing. Almost none of the dishes lived up to the description. We enjoyed our drinks, a non-alcoholic drink, and a wine spritzer. Illustrious descriptions and they lived up to their descriptions. The first dish we were served was mushrooms à la grecque that was served cold and it was tasteless, and frankly didn't match any descriptions in the menu. The next dish was a Basque Terrine. The flavor of the pork terrine was rich with a little bite of chili. Unfortunately, it was too dry. This terrine was served with delicious fig jam and stone ground mustard that was a lovely garnish on the terrine. It was served with a baguette, which was toasted unevenly, including one burnt slice. How this made it on to the plate coming from a bakery is a puzzle to me. There was also an unnecessary addition of cornichons and carrots with a tart, bitter vinegary taste. Despite my criticisms of this dish, it was my favorite overall. Next we were served a bistro steak with a green herbal sauce that was truly delicious. We also ordered Halibut which was described as being served with a Comté-Walnut crust. We didn't taste any of these additions and the fish itself wasn't fresh. It had a fishy smell and we only took 2 or 3 bites and put it aside. We ordered 2 side dishes. One was red and golden beets that didn't match the descriptions in the menu although it looked beautiful. There were no flavors of honeyed lemon or balsamic glaze. We also ordered duck fat potatoes that were way too salty and overcooked. As an end to very nice service, we finished up with delicious orange sherbet and even more delicious pistachio lemon cookies. On paper, the menu had us primed for a fantastic meal but the details were lacking and we were truly disappointed.

I made a reservation on a Thursday evening but it ended up not being too busy. My server was amazing and she explained that they have a mandatory service fee of 20% added on to the total, to ensure their staff gets a fair wage. They split it between front-of-house and back-of-house, and anything extra you choose to tip goes straight to your server. I ordered the beef bourguignon, and it was divine. Hearty without being too heavy. Highly recommend!

We were hoping for a little guidance or enthusiasm about the menu, but she never really talked about the food. When we asked what she recommended, her response was simply, "Snapper." Every question we asked was met with very short, one word answers. She wasn't busy. She just seemed completely uninterested. Having worked in restaurants for most of my life, I know hospitality is about creating an experience. Bartenders are representing the restaurant and helping guests feel excited about the menu. If this were my restaurant, I would be disappointed by that level of service. The food itself was just okay. The presentation was beautiful and definitely deserving of five stars, but the flavor did not live up to how impressive it looked. After reading other Yelp reviews, we also realized a 20% gratuity had already been added for our party of two. We did not notice it at the time and tipped on top of it. While that was our oversight, it made the experience even more disappointing given the lackluster service. This was our first meal on our first visit to Madison, and we were really looking forward to it. Sadly, the overall experience did not meet our expectations. I will say that our first encounter was with the hostess, and she was very friendly. She welcomed us warmly, thanked us for coming, and even made a point to tell us goodbye on our way out. She was a bright spot in an otherwise disappointing experience. Great dining is about more than just the food. It is about the entire experience, and this one missed the mark.

Fair enough, I can forgive a single mistake. Once we were greeted, our server seemed to realize that, for as nice of a place as this was, the wait while the restaurant wasn't busy (there was maybe five tables sat) really wasn't acceptable, so we were given a complimentary drink. After ordering bruschetta and a cheese board, I expected things to move a little quicker since they were two fairly simple appetizers. Our bruschetta and espresso martini arrived, and both were delicious and well worth the price; no complaints there. Unfortunately, our cheese board was forgotten. Since it was obviously missed, our very kind server offered us a complimentary espresso martini which was second complimentary beverage, which was delicious. Recognizing that the overall service had been subpar, our server also offered us a free dessert. We were given the crème brûlée, which was just okay and a little too sweet for my taste and also cold. All in all, considering how slow the service was despite there being very few tables, there were more delays and mistakes than there should have been. That said, our server did a good job of making up for it with the complimentary drinks and dessert. Overall, the food was decent and the view was great. I would come back for cocktails and appetizers, but probably not for a full meal. We still tipped well higher than average because our server was extremely apologetic for the sub-par service, and made up for it in comped orders. I expect better for the cost but appreciate the honesty with the service.

As a solo female diner, it's always intimidating to eat alone. When I arrived, I asked to sit at the bar, but saw free spots at the tables along the window. We'll I waited for a good 20 minutes without anyone checking on me before moving to the bar. The bar was really no better. Service was abysmal and the bartenders were not so friendly. The bar was also not well kept with glassware and napkins still in my space from the previous patron. I had to ask for water, napkin and utensils after my food came. I also had to ask for another drink, while the 2 girls next to me were attended to constantly. I ended up ordering the shrimp risotto and while tasty, it was too salty after a few bites. I'm giving 2 stars because they have a decent wine selection.
