I like the atmosphere of the new La Baguette on Main for Sunday brunch. It's never too crowded, and it's pretty relaxed. I don't feel bad coming in not so dressed up. There's always plenty of parking too. During my most recent visit, I ordered the Bon Jour Paris, basically ham, egg, and cheese on a croissant. My husband ordered the Croque Madame (pronounced like something in between 'croke' and 'crock') and a side of pancakes. Everything tasted great, but I think it all could have come out a little warmer It was kind of disappointing to order orange juice and get a bottle of minute maid. Also, they never came to refill our water or coffee. I know the cakes and pastries are delicious and we'll be back for sure, but based on this visit I have to give it a solid 3 star review. read more

I ordered a fresh 10 inch strawberry cake, was told it was made fresh that same day I picked it up. It was not. The strawberries looked and tasted like the cake was made 3 or 4 days ago, they had a weird, old, been in the refrigerator for days taste. The cream filling was still really good and the cake was ok, but that didn't taste fresh either. The nuts were actually kind of "soggy" on the sides. This was a special cake for a birthday party. We served it to all our guests, and it wasn't very good. I have had delicious cakes from here before, so this was really disappointing. Called the next day to explain our dissatisfaction, and was told we had to bring the cake back to the store...How do we do that?! It was cut and served at a party, therefore it's not possible to bring back the cake. I'm not asking for a full refund, but I would think offering a discount on a future purchase or a gift card of some sort, would have been nice. This was a $57.00 cake! read more

La Baguette on Main in Norman is my number one brunch spot in Norman, and maybe even in the OKC metro. Their new location on Main is much roomier than their old one, and never seems crowded even when there are lots of people. Their baked goods are an unmatched quality in this state, and they are my first pick for a nice cake or dessert for a special occasion. They make an amazing Tiramisu, and their fruit tartes are incredible. I don't like cake, but if someone got me a cake for my birthday from here I wouldn't hesitate to try it. They have a great deli selection of lunch items: salads, quiches, tabouli, etc. - great variety! Their brunch menu, though maybe not quite as diverse, boasts the best eggs Benedict I've ever had. I am a poached egg snob, and I really enjoy oeufs a la florentine - they do it better than anyone I've ever been to. Plus they make an amazing french toast. We come here a lot because it's clean, has excellent baked goods and a fun atmosphere. The sandwiches are generous enough and pretty darned tasty. The soup seems to be home made so it's tasty. The bread rocks. I had lasagna for lunch today and found it very Ho-hum and dry. I guess the thing I least like is I can't refill my own beverages and there is no traditional table service. It's awkward when I want a refill or another slice of lemon. Overall, it's local, reasonably priced and has a good choice of entrees. read more

I wish we had this restaurant in Tulsa. They are like a local-non-chain version of Panera Bread but also different. They have sandwiches and panini, salads, quiches, entrees, coffee, cakes and other bake goods. I think is even better than panera because they have lots of desserts (cakes, cheesecakes, tiramisu, and many others) also the prices of the coffees are more affordable. I tried the duo plate with spinach and tomato quiche with the florentine pasta. The portions were very descent and it also comes with bread. It was so delicious I ate the whole thing even though I thought I was almost full when I was half way... I was a little disappointed with the dessert. I tried the strawberry napolitano?? cake and the strawberry glaze tasted like bad candy. Next time I will try something more safe. But overall the place is great. They have lots of seating space and it looks like a chill-out-with-your-friends-and-have-a-coffee-or-lunch type of place. La Baguette is one of those Norman staples that everyone knows and loves. I've been going for 8 years and have tried most everything on their menu. My go-to is the Chef's Special which is a half sandwich and a soup/salad ($8). Pro Tip: All of their full sandwiches still come with a soup/salad side for only ~$1 more, so that's the better deal (if you want that much food). All their salads are good, but I'm especially fond of the Caesar and Spiral Pasta Salad. Another popular choice is their variety of quiches. I also frequent their Mediterranean section. If you've never had kibbeh or grape leaves before, give them a shot! They're authentic and some of my favorite add-ons! Their weekend brunch menu is also solid...My husband loves the Croque Madame. Used to frequent this place when we lived here. The desserts now taste mass-produced and the food isn't as good as it used to be. Would have appreciated fruit or seasonal pie by the slice. The quiche is really good, for asparagus!!!(Pepin probably couldn't make it this good). Probably Mediterranean/Greek recipe? Croissant was generous, and a shot of espresso--all for $10. Differently than the one in the city, which I went in once to find for fois gras and cheese crumbs.(who know these things?) It used to be known for breads(bleached flour) and cake, especially the fruit tarts-yummy. Also used to be available at Lang bakery as another outsource point. read more

How I've I not reviewed La Baguette?! I'm here more often than I check on, and I eat it more often that I really want too. I have a love/hate relationship with LB, that leans maybe slightly toward the hate. This is probably going to seem whiny, so.. 1. They really need a drive thru window for breakfast or when you just want ONE pastry. Having to go in and and wait in line is a major time kill. 2. They really need to open that second register, and one line just for lunch and one line for just coffee and desserts. Again, waiting in said line really kills the mood. No one will even wait on you at the dessert case, ya gotta go alllllll thru the line. And for whatever reason, it is always extra slow. 3. It would be nice if they baked more of the items they consistently run out of by noon. Skip LB for your afternoon sweet tooth if you want something other than cake. As for the food. My coworkers love it. I keep trying something new to find that one thing I love but it just doesn't do it for me. Not in store or to go. I like the quiche and the ham n cheese croissant. But the sandwiches are just so so. The desserts are def their strong suit, but they don't seem very consistent. Chocolate mousse cake is my all time favorite cake. The Mecca of chocolate cake. I branched out a bit here recently. I've tried the chocolate mousse shot thing, thinking it would be just a nice little bite of the cake. No. Not good. The chocolate cupcake? Too much. Piles of frosting and then stuffed with frosting and not the light mousse frosting, heavy buttercream. Chocolate muffin? Literally just a muffin shaped piece of plain chocolate cake. The chocolate croissant is really good, but clearly everyone else thinks so cause they run out every day. I'm also petitioning we start asking for more transparency from local bakeries. How "from scratch" are these desserts and pastries? Who are your bakers? Do you use real cream, butter sugar and flour? Are your bread only water, yeast and flour or levain? It might be just me, but I'm really pushing for more natural, local bakeries and desserts! read more

If I were just reviewing the bakery, I'd give it 4 starts but I unfortunately had the experience of brunch last week so here goes... You walk in and order at the counter, an awkward teenager gets your drinks and rings you up. Okay, fine. Sit and wait..and wait.. and wait. Why is everyone else getting their food? Another young staff member walks around (in really wrinkled clothing) asking what we ordered. Really? We have a number on our table, she can look up the ticket. She then proceeds to ask all the other patrons what they ordered. So we wait..and wait..get and ask for refills since we've been sitting almost 30 minutes. Finally! Our food arrives. My husbands omlette was scrambled eggs with crumbled bacon inside, just tossed in. My croque madame was sloppy eggs with a watery sauce and deli shaved ham on white bread. Such a shame. Norman really needs a good brunch spot and this place ain't it. Also, to the lady who let her demon spawn run all over the place. Don't glare at me when I tell your child to go away. read more

Ahh, La Baguette. How I love thee. Let me count the ways. 1) It is still owned by the little old French couple that opened it and their family. 2) Even my friend who lived in France for a year agrees, this is the real deal when it comes to delicious French pastries and baguettes. 3) Though some may consider them a little pricey, I believe it is well worth the quality of the product. 4) There is also a delicious lunch menu full of soups, sandwiches and Croque Monsieur. And the quiche is... there are no words. You just have to try it. I enjoy my visit every time I go. The staff are great, and don't be surprised if you bump into one of the family that runs this business. As I said, La Baguette can be a little dear if, like me, you walk out with an armful of goodies. But it is worth all that money you worked so hard for when you get home, slip into your PJs, heat up your chocolate croissant, and lay like broccoli after a hard day of work. Enjoy!!! p.s. Any time we go to Norman, we try to go to La Baguette. Their desserts are the best! My kids always get a chocolate mouse. It's chocolate covered, chocolate raspberry cake in the shape of a cute little mouse. I have the hardest time choosing what to get, there are so many options! I usually end up with the strawberry Napoleon or fruit tarte. They do also have some yummy food! I love brunch and they have a variety of freshly baked breads. Like all the La Baguette's the desserts are beautiful and if you're dropping in to buy a fruit tart or birthday cake, you'll be really happy with that especially with the presentation of it. All the regular food tastes pretty mediocre, nothing to "yelp" about really, but you could do worse. I like it better then Panera Bread, for what that's worth La Baguette is my local version of "fast food." It is an easy go-to local staple. This isn't haute french cuisine and you shouldn't expect it to be so stop driving around in circles and just sit down - enjoy some okay quiche with a pretty decent cup soup while you look up things on the interwebs. read more

I really wanted to like this place but was significantly underwhelmed. I got the portabello panini. The inside was ok, my gripe was the bread felt soggy and moist so it offered no texture variety to the inside. To me a panini should be slightly crispy. I had the Hungarian mushroom soup as a side and was underwhelmed there too. Let me preface by saying that I love mushrooms, but this was supposed to be a cream based soup and it was really watery and had a ton of mushrooms. Basically it was like a cup of mushrooms with some liquid poured on top. Strange. Because of the big miss with good items I didn't bother to get dessert. I probably would t come back, I really wished it had been better! It left me wishing I had just gone to Panera instead. read more

Oh no, La Baguette! What happened?! It seems there's a new owner and thing are going downhill. I took my man to La Baguette in an attempt to have a decent breakfast out, but was sad to see the quality had slipped. The weekday breakfast offering slipped down to your choice of "eggs with two or three toppings". The toppings consisted of "cheese, bacon and/or sausage". Michael placed his order: "Can I get just eggs with no toppings, a sesame bagel and a coffee". There was a brief look of bewilderment on the order taker's face as she confirmed that Michael did not, in fact, want the optional cheese, bacon and/or sausage. He confirmed and she turned to ask her co-worker how to write that up on the order ticket. I ordered the same exact thing, except I swapped a cappuccino for the coffee. In short order, our bagels arrived. I'd be willing to bet a good amount of money that the bagels are sourced from the Old School Bagel Cafe down the street (where we should have eaten breakfast instead). The bagel was good... Next, the eggs arrived. It was just what we asked for: a plate of scrambled eggs. Nothing of any real interest to discuss on that point. As for my cappuccino... the espresso base was good, but something was not right with the skim milk. It tasted as if it was about to turn bad... not quite there... but staring at death's door. As we left, I took note at the once famous pastry counter... now hardly stocked with anything of any desire. Just a few tired old sugar drenched cookies, cakes and rolls. I also noticed the new offering of hummus and baba ghanoush... at a French bakery. And I'm almost ashamed to criticize the staff... being that it was the Friday morning after Thanksgiving day... but c'mon. At least put a pleasant public face on the cafe. It felt more like I was ordering a plate of eggs at a middle-of-nowhere truck stop. It makes me sad to see one of my favorite cafe's in such a state. Back in July, my sister took me to the newly opened location on West Robinson, and it was quite good. Maybe it's time to put the old Main Street location out of its misery. read more

I LOVE La Bag on the west side and in north OKC. This review is for the new location on Main St. They worked wonders with the interior. It's really appealing and modern - they did a great job blasting away all the black spray paint from Sauced. They do not have wine yet. Which totally sucks and I can't wait for them to get their wine back. Pastries are the same as every other la bag, obviously. I was super sad to see that the new location was still counter service like the old Main St location. I was hoping the service style would be more like my west side location - table service, daily specials, etc., I guess it's great for a lunch crowd or breakfast people that want to come in and grab a quick something, but I think the menu sort of dictates a server with a menu at a table. Maybe they will branch into this later on. If I'm going to spend $40-$50 for my girls and I to eat, I like a little service to go with it. read more

They also serve some amazing deserts and delicious bread. I was in a hurry for a dinner party and picked up some penne florentine to go. It was a decent size for $15 and came in a "decorative" plastic bowl wrapped in Saran Wrap which made it super convenient to take...not to mention amazingly delicious! I always order cakes here if I need for parties as well because they are simply on point. Try their cheese cake or their strawberry vanilla cake, I promise you won't be disappointed. I never write reviews, but this incident has happened to me a few times with this establishment. I've always loved the food here and always had great service.. until recently. There's an employee who's a very tall, young man with curly hair that I've had multiple bad experiences with. I remember the first time I encountered this young man he was talking so loudly with another co-worker about very inappropriate things!!! They were using very explicit language and were so loud that me and the couple in front of me could hear them. It was very appalling. I could also hear them laughing about how they never clean at the end of the night??? As well as talking very poorly about their managers? On top of all of this, this young man always has a terrible attitude. My wife and I have stopped visiting as much, which is a shame because we're huge fans of the sandwiches. read more

I have so many favorites here. The coffee macaron, the chocolate mousse cake, the tiramisu, the petit bombe... the possibilities truly never end and I have yet to be disappointed by anything I have tried. There is a gluten free cake as well, and it is actually good, because they are good at cake. I love stopping by here. Individual desserts range from $1-6 I believe, which is a small price to pay for something so decadent and fulfilling. This is not my favorite of the Norman locations, but the woman that is always there is so sweet, and this one has a lot more seating space in the bakery area!! read more
