I normally find at least one thing I like where I go and eat. The only thing that was good here was the salsa. They brought us chips and salsa to start but from there the meal went down hill. The rice and beans weren't flavorful. The chicken nachos... avoid them. I can eat spicy and I enjoy spicy food but this chicken was so hot it was inedible. They also put a processed cheese sauce on top which was disappointing because I was expecting real cheese. The nachos at any fast causal dining establishment would be better and be a better value. I was very disappointed. I might give it a second chance but I would order their tacos. Someone in my party ordered the steak tacos and even though the steak was tough they had good flavor. read more

The food is delicious, however when I called for a take out, the order was missing 1 meal and utensils. Okay, it happens. The other problem was that the prices on Yelp don't match the current menu and the cashier would not accommodate for the difference when it was brought to their attention. The difference is significant, ie. the mixed fajita platter is 21.99 on Yelp but the actual price is 27.00. Be sure to ask the current prices if ordering. read more

placed takeout order at 6:30PM 7/2/21 and was told to pick up at 8:00PM. Arrived at 8:00 Paid and added 15% tip to help support the staff. waited until 9:10Pm and was told my order hadn't been started. no apology, no remorse. i asked for my money back. they refunded minus the tip. At least four others were still waiting with similar waits. . people at tables were walking out shouting they were going to WaWa so they could eat. Reaction from staff was very cavalier. Hostess his in kitchen the entire time. Clearly poorly managed and this is an ongoing problem. I would advise choosing a different restaurant. it's a shame, food was usually good during the off season, but cannot handle anything other than small crowd. read more

I was introduced to La Bamba at Chowderfest 2019 with their Crab Poblano Soup. INSANE. I tried to re-create the recipe myself, it never came close. Finally got the chance to try more of their food, and everything was so flavorful and delicious. I highly highly highly recommend trying La Bamba. La Bamba Express served of the best Mexican food I've eaten (I've visited a lot of Mexican restaurants... NYC, California, Australia, and down by the border). Generous portion sizes, flavorful food, nutritious and filling. The hot sauces are homemade and taste great. The menu is extensive, and the restaurant is roomy with good air conditioning. Would highly recommend for anyone in search of authentic tasty Mexican food while on LBI. read more

Good but not great (and enormous portions) My son and I had lunch here recently and liked it. The Bamba Nachos were enormous - more of a 4 person share than 2. They were reasonably tasty though had a cheese sauce instead of melted cheese. The Carne Asada tacos were the best dish with nicely spiced beef, onions, and a bit of queso fresco. The Tacos Arabes had an amazing chipotle sauce but the pork was a bit too greasy. Bonus points for having a tasty Horchata and a wide range of Jarritos (including Tamarindo). The service was good and the decor was a fun and festive Mexican theme with paintings and tchotchkes. All in all worth going to...but not travelling too far to do so. read more

A very take it easy kind of place, good for family, small groups, when we went only the owners were there, cooking and serving food and they both had a real passion and hustle. Our table of four shared the nachos appetizer, it sported at least 3 kinds of cheese, fresh salsa, guac, jalapenos, ect. Very flavorful, someone put some thought into these, ok now we were excited to try the entrees. My girlfriend's fiancé got a burrito the size of a baby. I swear, it was huge, and smothered in salsa verde and he was somehow able to eat half of this thing. He packed up the rest happily to take home for a second meal. My girlfriend got the chicken fajitas. (or as we affectionately call these kinds of dishes - "Sizzlin' bull shit", we do not mean this in mean spirits, they just come out of the kitchen smoking more than a honda civic full of well, you can guess) She was very happy with the seasoning on the chicken, said it was better than her favorite place back home. My husband and I had the soft shell crab tacos. They were THE BEST thing I ate my entire trip. ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. Such well-balanced flavor in every single bite. Will enjoy again. read more

$3.99 FOR PLATE SHARING!??? I never heard of that. It breaks my heart to say this, but my recent experience was absolutely terrible. Tortilla and burrito was dry almost like it had been sitting overnight and warmed up to serve. My friend, girlfriend and I stopped here after the beach for lunch. Knew this place for 4 years now, every other time I went it was good service and food. Almost like the cook and owner took a day off. This time was very different and unsatisfying. Despite not being able to eat at the restaurant due to COVID-19, we've been taking food out from La Bamba almost every weekend since late May. Called in an order once and the person on the phone wasn't the friendliest, didn't even offer to tell me the total before they hung up. The service could be improved on. Really enjoyed my fish tacos here. Very light and fresh tasting. I got them grilled and loved the chipotle mayo. The service was great and very attentive. I have celiac so i needed my meal gluten free which wasnt an issue and i didnt get sick. The waitress even wrote on the bill and order slip no flour, allergic. needs corn. Tables are multi colored picnic tables that are surprisingly comfortable. Waitress service was provided. The meals were delicious and the portion sizes are large. A very nice surprise. They offer a good value for what you get. Consider sharing. We shared chicken nachos to start and then we each ordered an entree. Combo fajitas, quesadillas, taco salad, carne asada and a burrito. All delicious and all huge. We took home leftovers. Only area they need to improve. Beverage selection. Three options: bottled water ($2), Mexican bottled sodas or aqua fresca. I was looking for a Diet Coke. It is a BYO. Next time in we will try the caramel stuffed churros. We simply didn't have the room this visit. Try this place. You won't be disappointed. read more

We went here for dinner while we were staying in the island. It was delicious. We ordered a few apps and a dinner each. Details below. The restaurant was pretty much empty but our service was very good and timely. The atmosphere and decor are ok. The bathrooms are clean. We brought mini tequila bottles and put them in their margaritas, yummmm! Apps: Shrimp cocktail was delicious. It was served a lot different than we were expecting. We got three large shrimp and a large glass of red sauce. Upon inspection there were a ton of ship cut up in the sauce to be served on chips or crackers. The sauce was reminiscent of a sweet and sour sauce. Chicken flautas were tasty but a little dry. The guacamole was to die for! Amazing flavor. Dinner: Shrimp quesadilla was huge and delicious.
