Giving an average rating because we've had two completely different experiences here. Last year, the food was excellent. We really enjoyed the Bongo Shrimp, Mango Tango Tuna Bowl, and Jerk Chicken Quesadilla. We left excited to come back. This year, we ordered those same favorites along with the conch fritters, and unfortunately it was a letdown. The tuna was fatty and so heavily seasoned that you couldn't appreciate the natural flavor of the fish. The jerk chicken quesadilla had barely any chicken, and the conch fritters were severely overcooked and so chewy that we couldn't eat them. Thankfully, the Bongo Shrimp was just as delicious as we remembered. I'm hoping this was just an off day for the kitchen because our first visit was so good. Based on that experience, I'd still be willing to give them another chance. read more

Food is still good but quality and portions definitely changed. They barely give you any rice, just enough to sprinkle the bottom. Rice is the cheapest side, you can't even give a normal portion? My pic is after having two bites. They barely give you any salad either. Sauces are not as good as they use to be when they were under different owners. The service was excellent, and the ambiance was simple yet comforting--very welcoming overall. I ordered the Mexican Street Corn appetizer and the Cod Tacos with Old Bay fries. I started with the tacos, as I was quite hungry. The flavor was very good, enhanced by the house-made dressings. However, I was disappointed to find that the fish appeared to be frozen, pre-battered patties rather than fresh cod. Given the price point, I had expected a higher quality of fish. That said, the dish was still enjoyable, and I finished it completely. The biggest letdown was the Mexican Street Corn. Rather than fresh corn, it seemed to be made with canned sweet corn that had been drained and dressed with traditional street corn toppings. Unfortunately, this significantly impacted the overall quality and authenticity of the dish. I would not recommend this appetizer, especially for those expecting a more traditional preparation. Despite these shortcomings, I would consider dining here again, as the overall experience was pleasant and the service stood out. read more

We stopped into Locohana not realizing it was actually the new name for what used to be Biggys and we were so pleasantly surprised to find out it's the same owner behind this refreshed and beautiful spot! The atmosphere is and super inviting. It really feels like a new staple of Long Beach Island. The food was incredible -- every dish we had was flavorful and beautifully presented, like something out of an ad. The staff was genuinely kind and welcoming, which made the whole experience even better. So happy to see this evolution, and we'll definitely be coming back! read more

Biggies Beach Grill specializes in Caribbean jerk style food. I got the jerk chicken bowl. The bowl had corn, beans, rice and plantains, avocado, deliciously seasoned jerk chicken and other flavorful garnishes. Our food came out pretty fresh and we ate outside. There were lots of cute hula skirt looking tables in the open air. Beautiful twinkle lights. It had a simple yet nice atmosphere. The staff was really friendly and hard-working. Go here to this fast, fresh, casual, outdoor eatery for Bob Marley, sweet potato fries and to taste Hawaii. Such a unique food concept and it was refreshing to try something new on the island! It's an outdoor eatery with tiki umbrellas at wooden picnic tables that have barely any reprieve from the rain. Had the special coco tacos (coconut shrimp) which were unique for Jersey! Also tried the jerk chicken quesadilla which was good when dipped in sour cream and salsa but the cheese wasn't as melted as it should have been. There was also no jerk flavor on the chicken. Tried one bite of the cod fish taco and it was way too mayoey for me so I didn't care for that at all. Even for my hub who liked mayo said it was too much. If I ordered it again I'd get it without the sauce. The rice that came with his was very bland. Food is made fresh to order and the fries were very hot and fresh not frozen. Food took about 15 minutes. I'd stop here again if I was in the area and try something else on the menu. They also have coconut macaroons which looked amazing and other desserts. After having a couple years to digest my food, I must repent for my hangryness, shake hands with myself and admit. That I am small. I'm a little man walking around in little baby shoes. People can hear me clopping down the street. They turn and laugh. There is no problem with this place, only myself. I can die peacefully now, happy belly happy smile :) Service was great! read more

First place to eat upon early arrival at LBI on a Saturday and needed to kill time. Place has outdoor picnic seating with umbrellas which helped in the sun. Ordered the Honey Glazed Salmon Bowl presented nicely, cooked fresh to order at it took 20 minutes. Dish was fresh, salmon was cooked correctly and flavor was good but would liked it to have more spice. Quantity was reasonable but a $26 price tag including tax and tip for a lunch meal is exorbitant for to go picnic table lunch. You are going to pay more for everything on the island but paid less for more at a restaurant down the street. Suspect they do ok here as it's a captive audience. read more

First time trying Biggy's - my parents and I split the mango habanero wings to start, which my dad said was "a little bready" and I expected them to be hot, but they were actually quite sweet. For our meals, I got the Margarita tuna bowl, which had a generous amount of perfectly seared tuna with a mango sweet citrusy glaze. It also came with avocado and pickled cabbage, rice and a salad, which was all delicious. My mom got the Coco Fasho tacos, which were two coconut shrimp tacos with a side of fries or salad. My mom complained the pineapple was canned. My dad got the Jamaican jerk chicken bowl, which he said was a bit bland. Overall, I would go back and portions were great! read more

Being able to spend the week at a house located on the same block as LocOhana is a blessing. Every time my family comes down for vacation, we ask WHEN, not IF, we will be eating at LocOhana. It is a consistently amazing dining experience with a diversified menu and great quality food at a worthwhile price for an LBI spot. The outdoor dining is also a chill way to eat dinner while getting a nice catch of the sunset. Corn-hole is always a fun way to spend time waiting for your meal, in any case. We also never wait very long to get our food, and the service is amazing. I always order the honey glazed salmon bowl. This is the only salmon dish I have had in LBI that served perfectly cooked, moist, and delicious salmon. The bowl in its entirely is a sensational mix of spicy, sweet, acidic, smooth, crunchy, and chewy. It's impossible to describe in words - it's THAT DELICIOUS. Everything from the glaze and aioli on the salmon, to the picked onions, to the salad, is fresh and works in perfect harmony. The bowl is one of my favorite all-time meals and is an unquestioned 10/10. I don't eat the tacos or the burgers, but my relatives have told me that they are delicious and the protein is well-cooked and moist. The Jammin' Jerk Basket is also very good. As a warning, I recommend not eating it all in one sitting. Two of my relatives ate most of two orders of this dish, and was left with upset stomachs. Maybe there is too much sauce served? So, in short, good taste, but make two meals out of it or share with someone else! The sides never fail to disappoint, either. My go-to is the old bay fries: crispy, spicy, and tastes great! The normal fries and onion rings are just as solid. I also enjoyed the chips that are freshly made and the guacamole that comes with them. Uhhh-mazing. I haven't had conch fritters even this good in the Bahamas and they were freaking caught in front of my eyes. Beyond delicious filled with more conch than any fritter I've ever had. The bowl I had was pretty good. My husband also loved his coconut shrimp. Call ahead and go! read more

Biggys is hands down my favorite takeout on LBI! The bongo sauce is ~chefs kiss~ !!! My go to order is the Jamaican Jerk Chicken bowl and I do however wish they added a little more chicken in a normal order because I never have enough (I started always having to order extra). Outdoor seating is available which is nice, but I wish they had more umbrellas to shield from the sun. Also, as a suggestion, it would be nice to have the menu written somewhere so patrons don't have to touch the paper menus and then throw them away after one use during these times. I had a food allergy and they were able to accommodate which was tremendously helpful. I ordered the blackened mahi tacos with a side salad and my boyfriend got the spicy deep fried fish tacos with fries. The mahi was a little bland, but the pickled cabbage made up for it a bit. A taste of the Caribbean in NJ! This is our 2nd visit and soooo good. Staff is super friendly. I was pleased for a vegan option. Flavors are spot on. Food is fresh, colorful. Took about 10 minutes to get food after ordering. Vibe is beachy even tho facing the Blvd. Nice jams, corn hole, picnic tables with thatched umbrellas. All that's missing is a fruity cocktail. Highly recommended! In these uncertain times, it was uplifting to see a small business open and thriving in LBI. My family and I felt completely safe and comfortable with the COVID-19 precautions in place. Biggy's made the ordering process quick, efficient and sent a text when the food was ready to pick up at the window! The staff was very friendly and maintained the eating area clean! I ordered spicy codfish tacos with a side salad. My meal was incredibly delicious and fresh but not spicy not all. The fish was seasoned and cooked perfectly. The sauce elevated the fish!! The salad dressing was light with a Caribbean flair. This delicious meal set the tone of my vacation. The bar was set so high that I was afraid that every meal after this would be a disappointment!! If you are looking for a change of the usual shore cuisine, try Biggie's!!! Got the Blackened Mahi fish tacos on Corn Tortillas. Unfortunately the Corn Tortillas holding them together were dried-out and falling apart. Even the replacement tortillas I received were dry, stiff, and unusable. The Mahi in both tacos were decent-sized slices and had a well-seasoned and clean flavor, but they were on the edge of being overcooked. There's definitely potential here - just ran into some bad luck today? I appreciate that a side salad was in the box with the pair of tacos. The Mango Vinaigrette was pretty tasty. The Guacamole upgrade was a negligible amount in a little sample-sized container, so I'd probably pass on that if I had to order again. Or order two Guacamoles? It's food, and I was hungry. And fortunately, Biggy's wasn't totally slammed - which is a one-star bonus on a summer Sunday morning in Beach Haven when everybody and their mother is in line for brunch. This year we were looking for something new and happened across Biggy's. Since discovering it a few weeks ago we have been back at least 4 times! I think it is safe to say we found a new go-to spot. What's great is the quality of food for the price. It is a great place for families to get a good meal at a decent price. However, the wait for the food can be a little long.
