Everything was great! The place is nicely decorated and the outdoor area has impeccable landscaping with beautiful flowers. The mela starts off with complimentary chips and salsa. This is a casual Mexican restaurant offering a menu with many choices, including vegetarian options. I popped in just for Nachos but was impressed with the interior and the quick response to my asking to place a takeout order. I'm thinking the table service by this visual experience for takeout will be great when dining in which I do plan on doing. The Nachos have strips of beef not chop meat. We had food here on Cinco de Mayo and it was fantastic! I had a chicken chimichanga in red sauce. Was cooked to perfection and very flavorful. My meal also came with black beans and rice but I didn't get a picture. That was also delicious and had a ton of flavor! Service was fast and this was on a busy day for Mexican food as well. Wow! Delicious. I was really craving Mexican food and I kind of went crazy ordering. I got enough food to last a few days for 3 people. To be fair though I wasn't expecting such fantastic portions. Everything was delicious. All the grilled chicken was super flavorful and marinated well, the chorizo and Mexican sausage perfectly spicy. Salads a plenty, plantains - delicious, fresh tortillas - yum. Burrito was stuffed to capacity and tasty. Quesadillas also fabulous. There's really no complaints here. Order from this spot whenever you're craving some delicious authentic Mexican food. I'll be back to try their horchata too! The menu is filled with appetizers, lunch and dinner, and desserts. The fahita was good. A little salty, but once you combine it with sour cream and guacamole with the authentic corn tortilla it is good. The corn tortilla did break up quickly so it was hard to hold the mixing and bite quickly. I would definitely come back. My waitress was very pleasant, as well as the bus boys. This place ain't it man. Look, there's 2 other Mexican places on E Bay Ave, and this place is a SOLID 4TH (behind the Taco Bell on 72). Staff is nice, food is painfully bland and unseasoned. My boyfriend and I stopped here on our way home from an Atlantic City trip. We were greeted with a friendly and prompt waitstaff. The murals painted on the walls made for a colorful ambiance and provided us with something nice to look at while awaiting our food. We both ordered burritos that came with beans, rice and a side salad. Everything was fresh, so flavorful, and filling. We felt that the flavors were authentic and our money was well spent. When we walked in I was expecting the food to be great as the vibes and atmosphere felt authentic and cozy. We were sorely disappointed when the food came out. Started with the chicken empanadas, which were bland and flat. There was little to no filling and they were also very greasy. The birria tacos were the worst I have ever had. Dry as the Sahara, the tortillas were not dipped in consume, the consume was a dark brown and overly salty. Steak was rubbery, and the rice was mushy and could tell had been sitting out for a while as it was served at room temp. We also asked for no beans, and we were served beans anyway. When we complained to the staff, we were met with resilience and less than satisfactory customer service. The manager was not willing to do anything but give us another side of rice. After a few minutes of trying to explain we just wanted the 1 meal to be comped, he offered us $2 off of our entire bill. Working in restaurants and having tasted real authentic Mexican food, this was incredibly disappointing and certainly not an establishment I would suggest or return to. Absolutely loved it here! The host went around singing and I thoroughly enjoyed it. So colorful in there and such a happy, fun atmosphere. Host was so kind and kept making sure we were enjoying ourselves too. We were promptly given chips and dip which were tasty. We ordered Empanadas for app and they were huge. They were very good. Slightly greasier than I would like but flaky and delicious. We both ordered the same entree which was Steak Fajitas and they were delicious. Came with rice and beans and plenty of tortillas. Most of my reviews on here are 5s and a few 4s but every few years you have to experience an absolute dining out nightmare to keep you humble. I just wish this travesty wasn't with out of town friends who didn't deserve this kind of treatment. Inside we melted into our chairs. - Veggie Fajitas had meat on the plate and for a vegetarian that's unacceptable. Nothing but resistance when bringing this up to the wait staff. 0 give a Fs about the hour and a half wait for chips and guac. Why fight us on this one ? - my wife ordered a dish with pork and pineapple. Neither appeared on the plate and the wait staff admitted after being called out on this that they ran out of the ingredients and just subbed in steak. Not cool and no apologies like Nirvana would say jut like a mean Kurt Cobain. - Had to ask for the fajitas to be taken off the bill since not one bite was taken and the dish was returned. We tried this restaurant the other day on the way to the island. We decided to sit outside because it felt very sticky and humid inside the restaurant. Our waiter was very friendly and patient while we looked over the extensive menu. We waited a while for the food to come out once we ordered. They started us with complimentary chips. The chips were almost like pita bread and it came with beans or some tomato sauce to dip it in. I ordered tacos that were marinated beef and pineapple and my boyfriend had a steak burrito. The taco meat they used was not very good but the pineapple and sauce combination was good.My boyfriend said his steak burrito was good, but again the meat quality wasn't the best. Decided to try it out one morning after an appointment at the Manahawkin DMV (0.6 miles). We enjoyed it so much, we came back 2 weeks later, despite the 30 minute drive from our house. Aguas Frescas. The Agua de Pepino was good and a rare find in South Jersey. The horchata was just okay. The complimentary chips are fresh and crisp. They are served with warm beans and the best house salsa. So good that we bought 2 pints for binge watching at home. Desayuno Catracho. Our daughter enjoyed her deconstructed breakfast. Burrito Desayuno. Mocked my husband's "boring" choice. I was immediately apologetic upon tasting the texture and flavor. Huevos con Mole. The mole was excellent, full of flavor without overwhelming bitterness. The generous basket of warm house made tortillas are what stole my heart. Our server, Ociel, was very friendly and attentive. The woman in the kitchen was also very welcoming. I am SO happy a restaurant like this exists in Ocean County. Not only is La Jarochita authentic Mexican cuisine, but it's delicious and very well priced. We were able to easily spot this restaurant due to their crazy exterior Christmas lights and decorations, and a significant amount of people visiting on a Monday night. Still, we were able to quickly get seated as a party of 2. Our server gave us some complimentary chips and dip (refried black beans and some mild aioli) as we gave her our orders. The menu is very extensive, with over 100 options with a variety of flavor combinations depending on your preference - even a picky eater would have tons of options here! I tried their El Azteca dinner plate, which consisted of steak, onions, peppers, cheese, chorizo, and corn - as well as served with rice, beans, and homemade tortillas. Although it was one of the more expensive meals on the menu ($18), it was an insane amount of food. It also came served on a smoking hot skillet, which just added to the overall presentation. Beware the "queso and chips" is actually Rico's gourmet cheese in a can. Our server was insanely rude when I said we didn't want the cheese and we wanted it taken off of our tab, he even bad mouthed to my Grandmother after HE got her order wrong. I went in at 3 pm after the lunch rush and the whole rrestaurnt was set up for Valentine's Day decorations. Very clean and uncluttered - exactly the way I like my Mexican restaurants . We sat ourselves and were promptly waited on. They had several Mexican sodas to choose from but I ordered a diet soda and my mother ordered a Mexican sprite which hit the spot for her. The chips and salsa were warm and delicious. I ordered the chicken milanesa meal and ordered chicken tacos and a chicken taco salad bowl to go fresh ingredients are being used and you can taste I it in every bite. The food has just enough flavor and the side sauces are awesome. The services was prompt and friendly. I am usually not super happy with Mexican restaurant in NJ but they passed the test Can't wait to go back. read more

Food- excellent- we started off with the complimentary tortilla chips and two dipping sauces- 1- spicy & the other delish mild black bean dip. We had Fajita & burrito- accompanied with black beans- rice- guacomole- both entrees were delicious - The food was served in the traditional Mexican stoneware- the portion size is large- had leftovers- the flavors of the food were great! The pricing was fair for the amount of food. The service was excellent- our waitress was helpful, knowledgeable & pleasant. The ambience was comfortable- large dining room with high ceilings- we had a large table set apart from the others. Quite literally the best place I've eaten down at the Jersey shore. There are a lot of Mexican restaurants down here but this place is in a ball park of its own. La Jarochita is a Mexican style restaurant located at 449 East Bay Avenue in Manahawkin, NJ serving authentic Mexican food in the style from Veracruz. The menu is extensive, the food is delicious, the serving portions are huge and the prices are right. You can even bring you own beverages. We had a wonderful experience there on July 1st. Our waitress, Valentina, provided excellent service. She was attentive, personable and prompt. This was our first visit there. Since it is our friends favorite Mexican restaurant, we wanted to take them there as a thank you for doing something nice for us. We were seated inside since the sky was getting cloudy and the temperature was getting cool. As we finished our meal it began to thunder and then it rained really hard. After paying our bill, I asked if they had an umbrella that we could borrow, but they did not. As we waited for the rain to let up, Julian, the general manager, asked if he could have my car keys. He took them and went out in the pouring rain and brought our car over to the entrance so that we could get in it and not get wet. An unexpected service that was above and beyond and really appreciated. If you are craving an authentic Mexican style meal, we highly recommend it. La Jarochita has become our favorite Mexican restaurant and we intend to return often. read more
