La Bamba is a fantastic Mexican option for lunch or dinner on the island. The staff is very friendly, I noticed they were definitely short staffed when we went so be patient. They're definitely doing their best! The food was great, not incredibly authentic but I'm sure they had to tweak the menu a bit for the demographic. Their chips and salsa were ok, but their green salsa is very good. Super tasty. We tried the crab empanadas and also their crab and jalepeno soup. We used the soup as more of a dip for the chips and it was great. I had to try the fish tacos and they were fresh and delicious. Very great on their pricing too. 4 huge tacos with all the fixins. My boyfriend got the chorizo burrito and he loved it too. I'll probably stop in again for these fish tacos! The interior is fantastic and fun. I loved all the Mexican inspired decor. The chicken and fish tacos are excellent. The pico de gallo is fresh and flavorful. The fish is cooked perfectly though batter fried and I think would be better grilled. I recommend ordering at the counter and then taking your food to be seated at the outdoor tables. It is BYOB and you can bring whatever alcohol you would like, but they do have house margarita that you could add tequila to. I absolutely love fish tacos and these are excellent. read more

Came here last Friday with my husband. The prices were high, but the food and service was overall pretty good. The Mexican nachos were mostly toppings, could've used more chips underneath all of the cheese and toppings. The Mexican street corn was very flavorful. Lobster quesadillas are a must! We had the traditional Al pastor tacos and also shrimp Al pastor tacos. These were some of the best I've had. Juicy, delicious, and packed with flavor. The grilled onions really put these over the top for me. And the hot sauce. Can't forget about that. We also shared the Mexican fried rice and the crab poblano soup. The soup was decadent and has a nice kick. The rice knocked my socks off with the right balance of flavor and heat. For the second time no points were rewarded to me when visiting a participating restaurant. They use the excuse that they were not up on the program yet which is BS. The chicken inside was plain, shredded chicken that was not cooked in any seasonings, sauce, etc and then rolled up in a tortilla with salsa verde on top. It was super disappointing. After a week of over indulging on clams, oysters, clams and clams, we decided to get something different for dinner. We came on a rainy Thursday, so it wasn't too busy. Very cool decor inside and out, but was pleasantly surprised by the flavor of the food. The salad that came with a cilantro type green dressing was out of this world. I wanted to buy a bottle of it. While the food was delicious , the pricing needs adjusting , I used my cc and they charged me 7% sales tax when New Jersey sales tax is 6.6% and they over charged me on the cc fee also. Maybe someone can educate me on what's going on here ? read more
