Worst Mexican food ive ever eaten at in my life... the easiest thing to not screw up should he chips and salsa, which came out with no tomatoes or onions was just salsa water basically was just nasty, I knew I was in for a long night of bad food going forward, should have left at that point. Drinks were bad too margaritas were way too heavy on the pour and no flavoring, at 20 bucks a drink I guess my expectations are a little higher than that. As a mexican establishment ypu cant mess up chips and salad and margaritas as these are basically what the country is known for. But we still proceeded to order entrees, enchiladas and chimichangas. With rice and beans. Could really only taste the lard in the beans as they had absolutely no flavor and the rice seemed to be the boxed Mexican rice a roni. To start, there was an ant in my Sprite, but it happens so I flicked it out and moved on. My sister and I ordered the Carne Asada Mexicana, which is steak, bell peppers and onions in a ranchera sauce... it was FOUL. Tasted like spoiled meat they tried to hide in so much sauce it was virtually soup on our plates. EXTREMELY inedible. I thought maybe it was just me, but my sister agreed when she tried hers. It was definitely not fresh meat and that sauce was just something else. Both of us LOVE authentic Mexican food and have had this dish before. When we GRACIOUSLY returned our plates the servers attitude toward us completely changed. He became rude and the other guy behind the bar mean mugged us the entire rest of the time we were there. In leu of the horrendous meal- I asked for a chicken quesadilla. Which was decent. How can you mess that up though honestly... and when we paid- THEY STILL CHARGED US FOR THE FOOD THAT WAS RETURNED!!! They remained rude as we left and just basically shrugged us off. We were not rude or messy, kept out table clean and this was the treatment we received for again, very nicely, returning our food. This is, by far, the best Mexican restaurant that I've been to in Oregon. I put off coming here for far too long due to the low ratings and am kicking myself for missing out. This place did not disappoint. Jesus was wonderful and attentive. The margaritas were so good. The chips and salsa were good but I'd say the salsa needed more heat. Meal arrived quickly and piping hot. I had the À la carte menu of taco with shredded beef and a cheese enchilada. The shredded beef was soaked in an amazing sauce and the cheese enchilada was very bubbly and cheesy. Hubby had the Burrito Yucatán. Very tasty as well. Sat outside to have margaritas and dinner. We checked in at the front to let them know we were sitting outside and were not greeted friendly at all. In fact, they didn't even respond to me letting them know. Waitress brought us water. I thanked her with a smile. She walked away no response. No smile. So, Sat down outside waited about 10 mins, when the waiter (who I believe is the owner) came out, he said "you've been here long enough for me to take your food and drink order" No smile. No hello. Actually he was very rude. We ordered two margaritas. We were not ready to order our food. He was not happy. He brought out our drinks and they were the most diluted, warm drinks I've ever had. We tried to choke them down and could not. I brought them into the restaurant and said, can I talk to you for a minute? He threw his hands in the air and glared at me. Didn't approach me at all. I sat the drinks down and said " you have been rude since the minute we got here. I'm not paying for these drinks you can have them back." He started yelling and waving his hands. We used to eat here quite often, but we moved away. So recently, we found ourselves in the area and oh, I wanted some Mexican. Well the food was as good as I remembered. The prices maybe went up a little, but it's totally reasonable. The portions are huge, and I had plenty to eat. I love their food. That's not the problem, not at all. We'd spent the day in the sun, and just wanted water to drink. But water was brought to us in tiny 6 or 8 ounce glasses. I'd opted to sit outside, it was a beautiful summer evening, and the AC inside works too well for me. Once the spicy salsa and fresh salty chips came, that water was gone fast. Our food came in a reasonable time, and we asked for some more water and chips. The waitress said sure, and we dug into yummy dinner. No one ever came back. Not with water. Not with chips. Not to ask how it was. Not with a to go box. My guy stood in the lobby for a few minutes trying to flag anyone down to pay the bill and the male waiter delivered some other people's food, but couldn't stop to help us. When we finally managed to pay, I explained how we needed water a long time ago, and had been told we would get more chips. He apologized and offered desert or tequila, he said the owners were away, and he and the female server were the only ones there. 3 other couples had arrived while we were eating, and I've never served, but it seems like 4 couples should be manageable by 2 people. I declined both offers. He seems like a nice man, and was very polite and kind, but our service was still terrible. So if you go, know that the food is good, it arrived super hot, it was accurate. La Bamba has been a mainstay in Sandy for years, having recently moved to its new location on Strauss street. The restaurant is not a bad place to eat, being pretty regular and reliable. The decor is pretty standard for a Mexican restaurant with the pinks, greens and various paintings. The wait staff is friendly and courteous. The prices are typical and won't dig too deep into your wallet. The food is ok, not bad and not great but ok. Having been here half a dozen times over the last few years, I have had a decent meal nearly every time. They have only gotten my order pseudo wrong once (yesterday, but I ate it anyway) so they are pretty good about accuracy most of the time. I come here all the time but recently the service has completely changed and oddly from the male owner I have always ordered the same meal two enchiladas and instead of enchilada sauce I get the queso cheese and this time all a sudden there like we don't do it and I was like ok well I don't like the other sauce and you have always done this for me he is like ok than 3 bucks more! We've been coming to La Bamba for a couple of years now. We started at their old location and have been back to their new location. I must say, the presentation of the building with a huge parking lot was a great move! Brand new everything and that's what will get people to come in. The best part is that the food tastes really good and I haven't complained yet about a thing in regards to the food. The fajitas of course, are sizzling and delicious. The burritos are rather large which is awesome. This is what keeps me coming back for more. The only downside to my experiences, the margaritas are made with Sprite, which is strange because I want mine to be strong, lime base and not fizzing into my nose. That's really my only complaint is my margarita and how the house is creating them. Honestly it's a deciding factor for us on the weekend. read more

Service was adequate, not great. Tried the carne asada, strip steak was tough, but nicely charred. Rice was OK. A little crunchy in parts. Black beans are sludge. For years, I didn't want to come here because I was confident that it wouldn't be good, and I was right. I visited with my mom last night and I ordered pollo con mole and it was served luke warm and the flavors just weren't very good. I've had it better elsewhere. The rice and beans were bad. My mom ordered a tamale and enchilada and didn't enjoy that either. The chips were bland, which wouldn't bother me too much if the salsa was good, but it isn't. The margaritas are too weak; difficult to taste any alcohol in them. The service was almost non-existent. Our server didn't really pay any attention to us. Generally, when a server seats you and brings your menu, they'll ask if you want something (like a drink) to get started, especially at a Mexican restaurant where cocktails are popular. That wasn't the case here. He just set our menus and silverware on the table and walked away, without saying a word, until he was ready to take our order. When I asked for an opinion on the pollo con mole, I didn't get much. I think he only checked on us once, and I had to flag down someone else to fetch our server when we wanted something else. I sometimes feel bad writing negative reviews because I don't want to hurt a business so much as I just want them to do better, but La Bamba has never been the place to go for good Mexican food. If you've been to really good Mexican restaurants and know what you like, La Bamba may disappoint you. I'll never return here. When I'm in the mood for good Mexican food, I'll stick with my usual spots. read more
