What a little gem! Having moved to SLC this year I'd been frequenting Beans&Brews, I mean they're everywhere. Then a friend told me about La Barba and I haven't turned back. I've now had several flavors of beans, but stopped on Noche Oscura, it's my favorite and I have it every day. I've even used it as a gift idea I like it so much. I'm actually sipping some right now! I normally brew drip at home but when I am out on the go, say, on my way back from running/ biking in Corner Canyon it's hard not to stop by. The younger staff are always friendly, helpful and pleasant, and the shop itself has plenty of room. Yes, even during Covid there's quite a decent amount of lounge space and working tables. I'm never really there during peak hours but still I've never seen the lot 100% full. There is also another La Barba located close to downtown I've noted, but haven't visited. You can get the beans in a grocery store, often for a few bucks less, but don't you want the freshest you can get?! Yes. Yes you do. I'm not sure what the official policy is but I was given a free beverage card when I last purchased a bag, and I've also asked the staff to grind a bag for me that was a gift for someone who did not own a grinder. Legit brew shop with co-working space for days. Well designed. Great coffee. I ordered an iced caramel latte, with oat milk and extra caramel sauce. Be sure to differentiate between syrup and sauce. Syrups tend to be the clear sugary stuff. I like the real deal caramel sauce. It's open seating with indoor/ outdoor open concept. Expansive, which is so important in the covid times. You may see a millennial sporting yeezy sneakers, shorts and a flannel jacket doing business while talking outside on the Apple airpods- like today. That's the vibe, and it's a good one. A burgeoning trend among bicyclists is to ride and stop for coffee. That being said, we make the rounds to a fair amount of coffee shops. We find that when available, stopping at a local coffee shop is preferable to the national branded retail coffee shop. La Barba Coffee located on the southeast corner of 138th S. and Sprague Lane in Draper, fell perfectly into our riding route. Gone are the days of sitting in a tightly packed coffeehouse. In the summer time they have indoor/outdoor seating that is amazing, comfortable, and has a European feel to it. The building design was contemporary and open. In fact, the front wall is a large garage door that opens up and the patio flows indoors to outdoors... Seamless! In our group we drank several different coffee drinks, Cold brew, Cortado and Americano. All of them were delicious. We also sampled a few of their sweet treats, carrot coconut crumb cake and the coffee cake. The cakes were fresh and we were pleased. This place was surprisingly hip, a terrific vibe for Draper Utah and as Arnold said "I'll be back". Salute! read more

The reason for my 3 stars is bc the building is really nice and the coffee quality for being in Utah it's good. The place is pretty hipster and those are their patrons. Now to the real stuff. I'm Cuban so I know my coffee I've been around the world twice I say this bc I've eaten all kind of foods and drink all kind of coffee and if u are gonna call a coffee Cortado it better be a Cortado and unfortunately IT'S NOT, can I please ask the owner to change the name? As others have stated, this is in an odd spot for a coffee shop. It's just south of the Harmons, but the shop itself is sort of all on its own in the area where it is situated. This makes it a little easy to miss, but parking was plentiful. The interior is big! So big there are parts that aren't even finished yet! I'm not sure what their plans are, maybe meeting rooms? Anyways, I like it. There are lovely dark wooden stairs as you walk through the front door, and a pretty little sitting area in that sort of foyer. Once inside the main dining area you'll find a fairly minimalist/industrial look with wood grain table tops, concrete floor, simple lights, and some fresh floral arrangements. There was only one barista there, and though it was a Sunday (around noon), they were consistently busy with customers walking in every few minutes. She was patient and did not rush me as I pondered over the menu. Because she was all on her lonesome it felt like it took a tad long to receive our order (you just go pick it up at the counter), but that was understandable. I ordered the chocolate and olive oil toast. It was more on the savory end of the spectrum, as the olive oil was the most noticeable flavor. It was fruity and verdant, and the chocolate, though very dark, was mild. I had a bite of the avocado toast, which was spread very generously with that beloved buttery fruit, and artistically sprinkled with squares of seaweed. Both toasts were VERY salty. Just shy of being inedible, which is really saying something because I love salt. I don't know if our barista was just feeling extra salty (hahahahaha), but in the future I'd simply request light salt, as otherwise both were tasty. I also tried a bit of the red smoothie (note, the "small" size really is quite small), which mostly tasted like berries, but it was not too sweet, and I enjoyed it. Other menu options include house made yogurt with various toppings (even a savory one!), several toasts, and pastries (only a few remained at noon). Besides coffee and all its varying forms, they offer tea, hot chocolate, and bottled products like kombucha, soda, and lemonade. They have wi-fi, though you'll need to request the password. I ordered a pour over from their new beans from Honduras (I believe). It was poured very skillfully and served in a beautiful thermos and a lovely mug. Amazing little coffee shop in the heart of draper conveniently located just off Bangeter. They have ample free street parking. Inside is almost everything you could want/need in a coffee shop, plenty of group and single-seating, lots of natural light, beautiful plants and calming ambient music and lighting. The noise is light, and there's lot of power outlets so its great for working. The baristas were less than helpful in recommendations but made very good coffee. We ordered the 12oz hot chai with almond milk and the 12oz hot matcha with oats milk + SF vanilla. Both were SO GOOD. The chai was nice and spicy and light not too rich. The matcha was probably the best hot matcha I've ever had. Not too sweet, still can taste the matcha and very creamy. Perfect We also order the lemon poppyseed coffee cake which was amazing! Finally, La Barba is bringing great Coffee to Draper. Their Downtown location is already awesome but this new location is more spacious and serves food too. There are a bunch of different coffee houses in Salt Lake City, but none is as good as La Barba. I have been living in different place around the world, and sometimes it can be a challenge to find good coffee. Even though Salt Lake has a bunch of coffee roasters and coffee houses, there is not a single one that has a roast as unique and well balanced as La Barba. The roast they use is more on the medium side and once you have been there you will come back as it has something unique to it. Despite to their quality roast, their baristas know how to make a coffee beverage in the right way. If you order a Cappuccino or a Flat White here, it is done the way it is supposed to be done. The milk has the right temperature, the right texture and is where it is supposed to be in the cup. Their baristas are all super friendly. Once you go there a few times they'll certainly remember you and you can have a nice little chat while they work their coffee magic. Love this place, by far my number 1 in town. read more
