New Caribbean soulfood restaurant in my neighborhood. Tonite was my 1st visit. Sizable portion of fish & shrimp that came with 2 sides and a salad. The food was tasty and actually enough for 2 people for under $20, a great deal. A word of advice for the management & staff: I am a long-term restaurant manager and would recommend being as helpful as possible when someone calls in an order. 1st, identify your establishment "Hello! La Bella Cafe, how may we help you?" Next, as your customer places their order, realize that you are new and want to let people know what comes with your dinners and what sides you may or may not have available. Ask for a name and maybe even a contact number and also inform your customer an approximate time frame for how long the order will take. I will be back and hope you will continue to improve and prosper!

Fried Chicken with Rice & Plantain

This place just opened in Pompano Beach. I had been watching and waiting for it to open. I stopped in tonight for take out. I tried the fried shrimp dinner with peas n rice and mac n cheese. It also came with small salad. Also, tried the seafood rice with shrimp and crab. Good portion size as I shared with my boyfriend. Everything was good! Next time, I plan to try the whole fried snapper and conch. If you don't like fried they offer grilled options.

Red Velvet Kitchen & Grill - Liver and onions, yellow rice and collard greens with corn bread

This is THE BEST soul food ive had across Palm Beach, Broward and Dade counties. TASTY, AMAZING,…read moreDELICIOUS, REAL SOUL FOOD! We enjoyed perfectly seasoned collard greens, black eyed peas, yellow rice, fried chicken, pork chops, red velvet cornbread, turkey wings and the best Arnold Palmer Ive ever had. This eatery practically shares a parking lot with Long John Silvers on Oakland Park Boulevard just…read moreWest of I-95 and east of 441. It's easy to find and has lots of parking. The restaurant seats more than 50. It's sleek with lots of black and red (to match its name). Except for one other table, it was practically empty on a Wednesday evening. Our first waitress was friendly. She brought our beverages and took our orders. After that, we got a different young lady. She also was cordial. (But got a bit testy when I went to find her so we could pay the check and leave.) We got the smothered chicken, smothered pork, fried chicken, three beverages, and two desserts. Let's start with the desserts. The peach cobbler crust was a bit thick and the peaches tasted like they were from a can. The red velvet cake was mediocre. Definitely not specially made. Now the sides. The corn bread was perfect. The red velvet corn bread was a treat. The greens were good. The rice was soaked in gravy. The yams were way too sweet. The entrees were the standout. The chicken only comes in wings. Nevertheless, they were seasoned and fried well, had a light breading, and were meaty. The pork chops were moist and savory. The smothered dishes weren't really smothered and could have used some more gravy, which lacked onions. But that didn't stop us from thoroughly enjoying them. Dinner for 3 with 3 beverages, 3 entrees, 2 desserts, tax, and tip was about $110. We hope to return and try the catfish, the turkey, and the liver and onions. P.S. A small group came in while we were eating and one of the diners was vaping. Isn't that illegal in restaurants? I was hoping the management would stop him. But he was there for about the last 15-20 minutes of our meal and continued to vape a few feet away from us.

It's a lot of fun just to have a nice dinner and relax. This time we had the muscles Florentine, chicken wings, and my wife had the grilled snapper. A across the board top-notch food. Once again, everything was fresh and delicious. We also got the carrot cake, which was excellent, super moist and flavorful, but we ate it too fast to take a picture

I love fish and eat it several times a week and so when I find a fish restaurant that serves exceptional seafood I just can't help but offer a high recommendation in this one really is at the top of their game. And I have to say that their lunch prices and portions are an incredible value for such wonderful food. And if the food isn't enough to make, you want to come here over and over again, the welcoming and sincerity of the service will definitely win you over. From the person that greets you at the door to the wait staff to the people that clear the tables every member of the staff makes you feel like you are their most valued guest. I really love this place and we will be back to try more things from the menu. Today I had a tripletail. I am not sure that I've ever seen it in restaurant before having previously only eaten it when I caught it. And that was many years ago. But it is without any doubt, one of my favorite fish to eat. Absolutely delicious and they're simple preparation brought out the flavor even more. I had it with a salad that was so fresh and complemented the fish perfectly. All in all, I love the restaurant and will be back. As I said, I would love to try the other things on the menu, but if Tripletail is on there that day, I am likely to order it again. One thing, especially nice was that we were really here to enjoy the company of family that we'd not seen in a long time. We took up the table for almost 3 hours. They refilled my iced tea regularly and continue to serve us and even with the long time spent there we felt completely welcome. Kudos to them for such amazing service. If you were in the Pompano Beach area and love to eat fish, this is a place you do not want to miss.

Parking lot right out front. I ordered the chicken and ribs combo dinner with two sides. Mac and cheese and collard greens as my sides. EVERYTHING was sooo good. The greens seemed fresh, still had structure not like out of a can mush. You could see big chunks of ham in it too. Mac and cheese was normal but good. I asked for extra sauce on the ribs and chicken and they delivered! Will definitely be back!

He said my order had been cancelled. I then called the store where a worker said they were out of meat (it was nearly 9pm, they're supposed to be open until 10)to which I replied, "why didn't anyone call me?". He just sighed into the phone so I asked to speak to a manager. I actually got Wally on the phone and he said my order had been cancelled so I asked by whom, he said he didn't know, it was just cancelled. I said "I didn't cancel it so who did?"and again he said he didn't know. I said the person I just spoke to said the store ran out of product so did you guys run out of food or did someone cancel my order? Again he said, "I don't know...." Yeah, Wally might know BBQ but apparently not much else, like food management or customer service. Where I'm from, if it looks like the restaurant is going to be short on something, they call the customer right away and ask if they would prefer a substitution or figure a way to make it right. If I was notified when the first delivery driver showed up that my meal wasn't going to be possible, at least I could have found an alternative for food, but because they waited until I called and subsequently, most other restaurants that offered delivery were closed by this time, they get a 1 star rating and this review. I will never consider eating at Wally's, ever. Probably too bad for me because it looks delicious, but I'd rather give my money to someone who actually cares. Oh yeah, collards aren't offered as a regular side on their online menu so good luck getting them through yelp if my expeience is any indication of their operational standards. Thanks for nothin' Wally.

The collard greens had just the right amount of vinegar (I like my greens tangy) and the mac and cheese was creamy and awesome. The brisket had the right amount of fat and lean and was so very tasty. Hubby got the two meat combo plate with St. Louis ribs and chicken, mac and cheese, cole slaw. I got the St. Louis ribs, mac and cheese, and collard greens for my mom. It was quiet when I got there, but it started to fill up shortly after I arrived. The menu was quite extensive, but I didn't want to eat too much food before hitting the mat. There was an option to place the order in person or electronically. I chose to speak with someone, so I could get some inside info. I decided to go with the brisket sandwich and the cheddar jalapeno cornbread. The food came out quickly and looked amazing. Before I added any of their many sauces, I tried the brisket by itself. The meat wasn't over seasoned, and was full of smoky goodness. And it was extremely tender, but not falling apart. Even if you didn't have teeth, you would still have enjoyed it. And the sandwich was packed full of brisket. The cornbread was crumbly and light, with a little kick from the jalapenos. I really enjoyed the experience, the staff, and the food. I'll be back when I have a little more time, so I can try even more things on the menu
