The meal started with fresh, hot garlic rolls -- perfectly soft and flavorful, and with butter already on the table it was so easy to enjoy them right away. A simple tossed salad followed, crisp and refreshing, just the right lead-in for the main event. And oh, that main course! I ordered the Veal Marsala with veggies, and it was absolutely outstanding -- rich, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. Each bite had me smiling, and it was the kind of dish that makes you want to slow down and savor it. The staff here deserves their own round of applause. My server was attentive and kind, and when it came time to pay, the lady at the counter was so friendly it felt like leaving a friend's house after dinner. This little gem has won me over completely. To say I was disappointed by my meal here would be an understatement. I had wanted to try La Bella Tavola for several years and finally did this evening. I imagined on Valentine's Day that the atmosphere would be more pleasant but it was completely lifeless inside. There was no music playing and practically no one speaking to each other, making it quite awkward for my friends and I. We started with a very underwhelming Caesar salad, to say it was average would be a lie. We then bit into very obviously frozen mozeralla sticks with no flavor and a rubbery texture. Our pasta dishes were painfully plain, with the lasagna not even being layered, sauce that had no flavor, and an overwhelming amount of rubbery cheese. I understand this is a small town and suppliers likely don't provide the best options. However, I was actually angry when I ordered FOCACCIA and received a French roll cut down the middle and covered in more rubbery cheese. I suppose whoever made the menu has just never had focaccia anywhere else and assumed it means cheesy bread in Italian. Not to mention my server tried to charge me twice for it. If you are looking for somewhere to eat in Cuero do yourself a favor and go to Whataburger, Taqueria Jalisco, or pick up a frozen lasagna from HEB if you are really craving Italian. What a gem in the middle of nowhere (well to me). Traveling back from south padre and my son said he wanted pizza. Did a quick search on Waze and this place pulled up, it was a 3 hour drive but it looked so good we said we could wait. Totally worth the wait! The dough freshly made here, I loved the rolls and the pizza. The place looks like an old service station, transformed into a sort of contemporary Italian restaurant with fancy music but a casual feel. Service was prompt, and attentive. They do have some gluten-free options like the pizza and I was glad that it had a normal amount of toppings like the regular kind which was great. Such beautiful and tasty food! Part of our group came from a quinceañera mass and wanted a late lunch. It was so much more authentic than we usually see in San Antonio. The decor was tasteful and would be nice for a date night. The staff were very attentive and proud of the food they serve. Cute little restaurant with a nice patio. Three people; we arrived and were promptly seated. Drink orders were taken...for some reason, each drink arrived separately and a glass of wine took a long time. Bottled beer arrived uncapped and with no glass. Asked for a glass (waitress seemed surprised) and this took a long time, and then arrived as a huge water glass (not appropriate). Beer (Peroni) had gone skunky. Food orders taken. Dinner salad for one guest arrived, but no silverware or bread. Entree for that person and one other arrived, but not the third...which again, took a long time, and arrived (finally) with bread. On your way to the coast STOP HERE!!!! In a beautifully repurposed vintage building is an outstanding local Italian restaurant on the lines of what is predominant in neighborhoods of the East Coast. A sheer delight, the chef and staff have high quality traditional Italian cuisine as their focus. We stopped in on a whim. The menu has your standard selections, plus some gems we were lucky enough to select. The stuffed mushrooms in a rich marinara sauce was our first clue we were in for a treat. They have an excellent seasoned filling that says "Italian!" without being overly spicy. The spaghetti sampler has fresh noodles in a rich marinara thick with beef, large meatball and a wonderfully complementary Italian sausage. Yum! Hubby had never heard the words salmon and picatta together as a dish and was very happy. HUGE capers in a well-balanced lemon butter sauce. Even the side bread was outstanding, obviously house made. We wondered aloud how an East Coast neighborhood place wound up in the middle of Texas cattle country, but counted our blessings that it is here. Go! Enjoy! read more

This little place was a hidden gem. We stayed the night since we planned a one day trip but we're too tired to drive back. We decided to give them a try. Now since a lot of reviews are asking about Covid, I'll include it in mine too. They did post a sign to wear a mask but didn't enforce it. Also, one of their employees did not have their mask covering his nose. So take that as you may. But the staff overall was very friendly and the food... DELICIOUS! I had the spaghetti and meatballs and LET. ME. JUST. TELL. YOU. Those were the most tender, soft and tasty meatballs I've ever had. Usually I can only eat about one or two since they are dry but here MY GOD YUMMY! So it's a must try. My hubby had the calzone and loved it! Just enough sauce, cheese and meat. After talking about Italian food today, my husband, a product of an Italian mother, took me to this little restaurant in Cuero. La Bella Tabola was perfect! The owner was so very gracious - she apologized for not being able to speak English so well but her wait staff were running late and she was running everything on her own. She did excellent and our meal was served in record time to our delight. We had the spaghetti and sauce - he with meatballs and me with Italian sausage. Yum and then dessert - oh my! My go-to order is fettuccine alfredo with a caesar salad (they have the BEST caesar's!) and mozzarella sticks. The service is always great and pretty quick most days depending on how busy they are.
