a cheese pizza on a pan
    Kayla I.

What a gem in the middle of nowhere (well to me). Traveling back from south padre and my son said he wanted pizza. Did a quick search on Waze and this place pulled up, it was a 3 hour drive but it looked so good we said we could wait. Totally worth the wait! The dough freshly made here, I loved the rolls and the pizza. The place looks like an old service station, transformed into a sort of contemporary Italian restaurant with fancy music but a casual feel. Service was prompt, and attentive. We will totally be back for this pizza next time through.

La Bella Tavola never disappoints. The food is always outstanding, made fresh when ordered, and you can truly taste the quality in every bite. Fresh bread, fresh ingredients, and excellent gluten-free options make it a win for everyone at the table. The service is friendly and welcoming, which just adds to the experience. Honestly, no matter what you order, you won't be disappointed. We gladly make the drive to Cuero just to eat here and that says it all.

We stopped in here after looking at the local museums. We were seated right away and the waitress was very attentive. They do have some gluten-free options like the pizza and I was glad that it had a normal amount of toppings like the regular kind which was great. My friend had a chicken dish with a lot of meat and a great value. They liked it a lot. The ambiance is fine and the place is clean. The only issue was that we didn't know to go to the counter to pay and not wait for a ticket. No problem though.

My go-to meal is the chicken picatta! I live in Victoria but whenever I'm in town for work, I choose La Bella. Great service, great food

Wife had a pasta combo! Lots of flavor and CHEESE!

On your way to the coast STOP HERE!!!! In a beautifully repurposed vintage building is an outstanding local Italian restaurant on the lines of what is predominant in neighborhoods of the East Coast. A sheer delight, the chef and staff have high quality traditional Italian cuisine as their focus. We stopped in on a whim. The menu has your standard selections, plus some gems we were lucky enough to select. The stuffed mushrooms in a rich marinara sauce was our first clue we were in for a treat. They have an excellent seasoned filling that says "Italian!" without being overly spicy. The spaghetti sampler has fresh noodles in a rich marinara thick with beef, large meatball and a wonderfully complementary Italian sausage. Yum! Hubby had never heard the words salmon and picatta together as a dish and was very happy. HUGE capers in a well-balanced lemon butter sauce. Even the side bread was outstanding, obviously house made. We wondered aloud how an East Coast neighborhood place wound up in the middle of Texas cattle country, but counted our blessings that it is here. Go! Enjoy!

Service was fine. Waiter was nice. Pizza was ok. Wouldn't order again. Calamari was very dry & chewy. Spice was sprinkled on but no flavor. Rolls were good. Marinara was yummy. Spaghetti & meatballs were nothing too special. BUT the chicken Alfredo was VERY GOOD! Would go back just for that over & over.

Look at the size of those meatballs!

The second time was with the current owner and the eggplant parmigiana was good but the pasta sampler was very bland. We waited several months to give it another shot as we know things could improve. We ordered fried calamari, supreme pizza and baked Tuscany. They were out of the fried calamari, it happens, but it seems like a reoccurring incident with many items as the waitress told the table behind us they were out of many items. My husband had the pizza and said it was good but the dough was not cooked all the way through and he could barely hold a slice because it was soggy. My pasta was very good, big portion. The bread rolls were probably my favorite part, very good and while they don't give oil with them the Parmesan and pepper flakes on the table were enough. The poor waitress was very overwhelmed with a large crowd tonight, she needs an additional person handling the drinks and check out counter. She did her best but forgot many orders and drink orders and returned to the table to re ask or confirm. My advice to her is to always bring her notepad, take some anxiety medicine, and wear some lavender. The owner/ chef in the kitchen, some advice would to ditch the menu entirely and have daily specials only! Have 6 meals available at all times rotate your dishes and a soup and salad combo always available. Go back to a simpler menu until it's manageable and then you can grow your team and add more options. Your portions are big and food is okay, it will be easier, better, more efficient, and quality will improve when you limit your menu. Overall for decent food, long waits, and an underwhelming place to eat out, give it a shot. Next time I'll be going to the seafood place next door. (P.S. The water has a chlorine taste to it, not sure if this is all of Halletsville but if so the city needs to update its filtration! The chlorine lingering behind soft drinks at every restaurant is awful.)

Ere's is also one of the few restaurants open in La Grange at 8 p.m. on a Saturday night, making it a convenient option after a full day of activities. The garlic knots were fresh, warm, and delicious, although I was expecting a stronger garlic flavor. Don't forget to order the marinara sauce or garlic oil for dipping! The Caprese salad was fresh and refreshing, and the grilled chicken was simple, well-cooked, and satisfying. Overall, Ere's was a dependable choice for takeout. Everything was favorful, and cooked just right. I loved being able to try different pastas and sauces in one meal. The portions were generous, and I definitely left full and happy. The staff made me feel welcome from the moment I walked in, and the atmosphere had that comfortable, authentic Italian feel that makes you want to sit back and enjoy your meal rather than rush through it. As someone just passing through town, this was one of those places I'd happily make a return trip for. It was warm to start but the AC caught up in a reasonable time. Ma enjoyed the usual house salad with the rest of us and a dish of meatballs since she's given up carbs; was very satisfied with the flavor/texture. Her husband ordered his absolute usual, the fettuccine chicken alfredo. I can truthfully swear in court he HAS actually tried and enjoyed other dishes, but I think he himself has forgotten that fact. Mr R, eating vegetarian this day, had the eggplant parmigiana which still had a lovely crisp on it and enough sauce/cheese to complement without becoming overwhelming. The last 2/5 of his plate was full of spaghetti marinara and he cleared the entire thing even after a sub at Angellis for lunch. I had the chicken cacciatore for the first time in a while, and while warned it was a little spicy found it was a lovely gentle heat. The chicken cutlets do seem a little smaller since the last time but I could be wrong. The basket of rolls, in contrast, was ginormous. I don't think I recall being served that many for a party of four here, but again. Perhaps I misremember. Naim took great care of us in between the other tables and several to go orders. He always does and he loves a clean table. No one had room for dessert and we didn't win the fight for the tab so I can't tell you the actual price. Took home that mountain of fresh rolls and they fed Mr R and myself the entire next day just enjoying buttered rolls, tomato sandwiches, and using up leftovers in the fridge like brisket and the rest of my chicken cacciatore. We lingered a long time catching up and no one rushed us. Bathroom is aged but clean. In Seguin's collection of several great Texmex and bbq establishments plus franchise locations, this is one of the independent places that offers welcome variety.

This time for an early evening dinner. Coincidentally, we had the same waiter as the first visit and again she did an amazing job. She was very patient and of course, the food was amazing. The salmon piccata and chicken piccata were both very filling. Have I mentioned the vegetable and chicken soup. I really like that soup. Also to note, they give very large portions of the proteins. It's easily worth the money. Check out my photos and you'll see what I'm talking about. As for the decor, they have some really nice paintings, indoor and outdoor seating, and a good sized bar! I ordered the house salad and the Noli's Sautéed Chicken dish. The salad started off on the wrong foot. When I asked about the dressing, the server mentioned a tomato vinaigrette. I'd never had a tomato‑based vinaigrette before, and after tasting it, I'm certain I won't ask for it again. The flavor landed somewhere between someone's imagination and cocktail sauce sharp, odd, and completely mismatched with the meal's Italian profile. The chicken pasta dish arrived promptly, but visually it didn't wow me. Once I tasted it, the issues became clearer. The chicken itself was rubbery and bland, with no seasoning. It felt like the components were tossed together with the hope they'd fuse into something cohesive, but they never did. The white wine lemon sauce was barely noticeable, and the sundried tomatoes were present only in appearance. It left me wondering whether there's a chef ensuring consistent flavors back there. The charm of the restaurant is undeniable, but the dishes need intention, seasoning, and balance to match the warmth of the space.
