Cool family style diner. Very diverse menu with lots of country classics and a wide array of sides to choose from. We went for the grilled red snapper. The service was fast and friendly. Redress an appetizer but salads came before it. We ordered two chopped steaks and a ribeye and waited well over an hour.

Delicious home cooking. Chicken fried steak and hamburger steak were amazing. Definitely worth the stop.

We've been driving by this place for years and could never line up our schedules. One time we pulled up to find the place locked up with plates of food on the tables and no one around....weird! But we thought we'd give it another shot...and were pleasantly surprised. The staff were all lovely...we me the chef...he was awesome! We got there at 11:30am...and were happy to find that they have breakfast all day!!! It was delicious and service was very fast...great for road trippin'. I really wanted the food to be good but what really ruined the experience was the service. We ordered the special chicken fried steak, salad and club sandwich. Took 45 mins for our food to come out because our waitress disappeared. We were her only table. Fries cold, salad warm. I had to walk up to ask them to ring me out, they couldn't find waitress - she was outside smoking with manager. Manager did ask what was wrong, I explained everything I put in here. She just looked at me. I had already paid so I wasn't looking for anything other than to give them feedback. read more

First time here and it was amazing. My blood sugar was dropping so Hailey and her trainee Alyssa were very quick to get us our drinks and bread! First off the bread/rolls were very good! The hamburger was huge and fantastic and they did a great job accommodating my food allergies! Husband had all you can eat catfish plate and he really enjoyed it! A bit on the expensive side. Three of us was just over $80. We had an appetizer of spinach and artichoke which was good, not great. They gave us rolls and butter. Nothing there to write home about. The spinach dip was served with 4 slices of toast with slivers of Parmesan cheese on them. Expected tortilla chips since it is a shared appetizer. We had the burger with onion rings (again, good not great) the fried foods, like shrimp and onions were the same. Had a number of sides since my daughter is vegetarian which were alright. No complains other than there does not appear to be selection geared toward vegetarians. We got a brand new server who had to run back to the back to figure things out. This happened several times. She forgot the salad and had to be reminded of it. Provided it to go. Not ideal. When asked what she recommended she was stumped. Service wasn't bad just lower than what I was expecting. I like servers that can pull me through the menu, not waiters-that just want you to order. No insects, tables were mostly filled at lunch. Clean. Opens at 8 AM which isn't consisted with clientele needs. These are rural people up before dawn. The alcoholic prices were a bit exaggerated compared to others, so we did not participate. Not bad looking scenery, just no major focal point. There were pics of bluebirds that had been painted or drawn framed on the wall. A good sized covered porch, largely without fans and you could watch traffic going down the road. Oppositely there was a trailer park which provided another boring focal point. Not much to say here. Focus on your friends. This bar and cafe probably cuts into Bancroft cafe and other cafes in Cuero. Can't see this restaurant as being a destination stop for Cuero, since there's no focal point besides the beer. Good place to kick back once or twice, but no real excitement to be had other than meeting your friends. Food by itself isn't going to make it as is the service, nothing to serve as the draw. Much like Victoria, just down the road, your competing against Mexican Mamas- numerous restaurants have failed, this is an open question ( not to be harsh). Has yet to be determined as to whether this establishment is a sticker-rounder ( long term), rather than a flash in the pan. Not sure we'd be back. read more

Took 3 tried to eat here. First time the power was out. Second time they were closed due to a family issue I think. Finally got in... literally no one there but the waitress, cook and some guy I hope worked there cuz he kept going back to the kitchen. The patty melt was 5 star yummy. Hubbys burger was decent. Fries were soggy and gross. Even though no customers were there, the restaurant was filthy gross. Tables were uncleared and floor was so so nasty. It took over a hour just to get our food. And the order was messed up. Instead of chicken fried steak I got chicken fried chicken. The napkins had what looked like mold but the waiter said they were CIGARETTE BURNS. The tables had food and liquid on them. read more

LOVED this place! My family and I came through town and happened upon this gem with a fantastic patio where we, along with our dog, were warmly welcomed. Breakfast appeared to be available all the time, which is what my kids and I ordered--delish, especially the fluffy pancakes. My husband ordered the chicken fried steak, which he said was the best he's eaten: the breading didn't fall apart with the gravy, and it had an excellent flavor. This meal was the home cookin' we were looking for after a week of vacationing. Our waitress was sweet and attentive as well. The best part is how reasonably priced the menu items are given their portion sizes and high quality. The food (and experience in general) is well worth what you pay for! We were already trying to decide which menu items we'd like to try next time! We plan to make this restaurant a necessary stop on our future trips through Cuero. read more

I can only give one star and that's generous. Stopped at this restaurant after reading the other reviews. We were definitely there on the wrong day. After my family gets seated and our order taken and we are well into our meal when the waitress comes back and says,"oh! Did I tell you we can only take cash?" Seriously! Of course she hadn't. My husband ordered the pork chops w mashed potatoes and brown gravy. His potatoes came with cream gravy. I ordered a monte Cristo sandwich. If you can't make the item don't put it on your menu. I'm not sure what the abomination was I was served but it was NOT a monte Cristo. It was served with strawberry jelly in those little single serve portion cups and battered so thick yiu could barely find the meat and cheese. I'd rather have been told the cook didn't know how to make it then waste all that time and money. It took almost 45 minutes to get our food and the place only had three other tables with customers. My daughter and I each ordered a cup of the soup of the day. It was broccoli cheese and so thick she ate hers with a fork. And that's because we only got one spoon and each cup had to be cooked separately. It came out last and the broccoli was not all the way cooked and crunchy. My husband had just gone to the ATM so we knew how much cash we had. The bill was $59 and some change. Gave the girl $80 so we would have some tip money. She gives my husband back coins. He told her he gave her $80 and she wanted to argue that no it was only $60. Two of us watched him count off 4 $20's. Safe to say we won't be getting ripped off there again. read more
