Lovely setting, and able to satisfy a large group with quite varied tastes from vegan to carnivore.

The setting on a beautiful warm evening was absolutely perfect. Sitting in the verdant garden, listening to an American soundtrack mixed with International chatter and laughter made for a leisurely and enjoyable evening. We opted for the prix fixe meal, which for 40 Euros each was remarkably inexpensive and expansive. Starter was a tomato relish with fresh bread. Then a traditional plate of salumi and cheeses, bruschetta and fritelle. A bottle of DOC Chianti accompanied a 1kg sirloin medium rare with roasted potatoes. The meal ended with cantucchi dipped in vin santo. Service was excellent and unobtrusive. Keeping this meal from 5 stars was the quality of the steak, perhaps because a comparable one the night before at another restaurant was soo good! read more

I've been coming to La Beppa Fioraia for over 15 years and it's a little surprising that I felt there were more vegan options in 2008 than there are in 2024. For example, they used to have beautiful pizzas that were easily made vegan by leaving off the cheese. They no longer have these. I see in my review from 2017 that they had 3 meat-free taglieri but now there is only one and they offered to leave off the cheese but then you're not left with much. It is of course, very meat-focused and my husband ordered one of the steaks. OK, but let's take a moment to talk about those delicious potatoes! A plentiful, delicious contorno! Our waiter spoke with the kitchen about vegan options and they whipped up a fine, if forgettable, eggplant pasta dish. I'm not positive I'd come back here for this as much as I have love for La Beppa Fioraia. I will continue to recommend it to my non vegan friends, however. Still love the vibe here and I am positive it's glorious when it's not winter and the garden patio is open. read more

However, if you are planning a trip or are deciding where to eat and you have stumbled upon this review...grab a table and rest assured that you are in for a lovely evening. Try to time the meal so that you have about 30 minutes before the sun even begins to set to get up to Piazza Michelangelo, it's a bit of a hike uphill after a relaxing meal & wine. The meal was exquisite. A variety of menu specials, the Florentine steak for 2, Chianti, dessert. But the garden was what would bring me back again & again. It was one of my favorite restaurants in all of Italy. Service was perfect. The weather was superb, allowing us to linger in the lush garden without being too warm or buggy. Once we were sat, we were were given water and bread, but it took over 20 minutes to have anyone take our order. When we told them we were leaving, they finally took our order. The restaurant is incredibly large, providing plenty of seating for any group. The decor is trendy and well curated, but maintains Tuscan charm. The highlight is the menu is a variety of generous and delicious taglieri plates. These plates are perfect to share as an antipasto with plentiful options for both vegetarians and omnivores. The menu also includes a variety of creative primi and secondi, including a beautiful and well priced bistecca fiorentina. The menu offers this as well as other classic Tuscan dishes. The wine selection is both superb and affordable. I would give this restaurant 5 stars for ambience and 4 stars for food. The outside backyard area was lovely and we enjoyed our table in the grassy area. Definitely call to make a reservation and sit outside!! We ordered pizzas and they were good, one of the pizza crusts was over cooked and burned a little bit and tasted like a cracker, so that's why I would give it 4 stars for food. Really really happy to have found this restaurant since it can be a bit tough choosing a place for dinner in the center of town. I heard about this place from a foodie friend of mine so me and my guy took the opportunity to visit last night for the first time. Hidden away above san niccolo going towards the rose garden, we were very surprised at just how many people were at the restaurant. It was packed! Since we didn't have a reservation, we had to wait a half hour which was fine because we ended up getting a drink at nearby Rifrullo. After seeing the amazing tagliere plates of some of the other people, we had to try that even if they were on the very pricey side. Price aside however, it was amazing! They even had sweet onion chutney and pappa al pomodoro. That paired with a bottle of white wine from Friuli and some cantuccini (for one but more than enough for two) and the bill came out to about 45 euros total. There is a gorgeous garden outside that i must eat at next time we are here. I highly recommend making reservations no matter what day of the week and I think this place is a real FIND. I will absolutely be back, hopefully soon! read more

I was suggested this restaurant by the local who was renting us her flat, and it was well worth the time. Beautiful outdoor terrace with a view of one of the old Florentine guard towers, and surrounded by olive trees...spectacular. Ate a fantastic entree, and followed it up with their signature steak covered in Parmesan. Steak was far from what i had expected, but finishing the meal off with the best Tiramisu that i have ever had made it a very good experience. Wine pairing was perfect for my steak dinner. read more

Great place if you're Italian. Stay away if not. We waited to be seated as other people who came after us got seated. Then we waited for our food longer than the other tables who came in after us. Best part is I ordered a medium rare steak. Waited over 30 minutes for it and it was fully rare. Couldn't chew it as it was raw. The glasses of wine we ordered were half of the usual pour. Seeing as it's hard to make up your mind on where to eat in Florence with so many options I decided check this place out after exploring! I went with my father while he happened to be visiting. We ordered quite a bit of food--aperitivo, chicken, a pasta dish, and a pizza. We decided that this place was a great spot for aperitivo/antipasti but not the best dinner food in Florence. I cannot remember each detail exactly well since it has been some time, BUT I do still vividly remember the antipasti dishes we ordered. My father got the traditional, with various meats, some cheese, and patè. It also came with small servings of ribolitta and Pappa al pomodoro. He was raving about the patè here. He said it blew the patè from the night before out of the water. It came warm and the serving was massive. The best part, to me, was the coccoli that came with his order. My vegetarian antipasti was also great and big enough for a whole meal. I regretted also ordering pasta... The portions are big. The quaint restaurant is off the beaten path in a nice setting. We had the set menu for our family of four and had a wonderful meal. The antipasti was a great meal itself followed by flavorful fresh pasta dishes and desert. Our server helped with the wine selection with a good wine at a reasonable price. Great dinner setting overlooking a beautiful garden. Definitely worth eating outside as it sure makes you feel like you're in Italy. Seemed like we were the only tourists there. We didn't try them but the Beppa boards on the menu looked amazing when they were being served to other guests. Oh my goodness, what a find! One of our best meals in all of Italy! Magnificent! First of all, if was thundering and lightning outside, and sitting indoors near a window, the weather gave us a fabulous show. La Beppa is a quick walk down from the sunset at Piazza Michelangelo. We shared the antipasti plate which had lots of wonderful cured meats, cheeses, spreads and these delicious bread puffs! We had a great dish of flank steak with spinach, and the BEST EVER what we lovingly refer to as Mac and cheese with cayenne. Oh my! And a great special cheesecake for dessert. GREAT MEAL! We went here for lunch to get an authentic Florence Steak and were not disappointed. When we told the waitress we wanted a Bistecca, she asked how big, and then promptly brought us the steak to make sure it was what we wanted. About 15 minutes later it came out and was delicious. The meat was rare, but warm all the way through and extremely tender. We also ordered some plain pasta for our two-year old which came out more raw than al dente. I've been in Europe for over 10 days now, and I can honestly say that the dinner I had at LA Beppa Fioraia tonight was the worst meal I've had on this trip. The bread they served had zero taste. The foccia bread was burnt and tasteless, as well. For the main course I ordered the tatliaglia (thin slices steak) medium rare. Not sure what animal this meat came from but I'm pretty sure he was known among his herd as "Chewy", or as they say in Italian, gommoso. My wife had the hamburger and I swear it had the consistency of oatmeal. Definitely no relation to Chewy. I left over half of my steak on my plate. At no time did the waiter or lady that sat us down bother to ask how our meal was. No surprise there. Based on previous reviews I was really looking forward to ordering their tiramisu, but based on the terrible entrées I couldn't bring myself to spend any more euros on this place. Do yourself a big favor and eat elsewhere. We passed plenty of restaurants within a 1/4 mile radius that couldn't possibly be as terrible as this place. Oh. And by the way, there were also flies buzzing around in the dining room upstairs where they seated us. read more
