Finally caught La Bodega when they were open and was elated to try the papusas. These are the best papusas in Atlanta-- so fresh, perfectly seasoned, perfectly cooked, and authentic. They are a little pricey but considering the flavor and freshness they are definitely worth it. My meal came with plantains which were just okay and rice/beans. The rice/beans came mixed and was a bit chewy but still quite good. Customer service and ambiance was also a 10/10. I will be back next weekend!! read more

I was so excited to try this place! It's really cute and seems like it tries to support the community. Unfortunately, it didn't support my needs. I ordered food and went to pay only to be told they do not accept money. They only accept credit cards. No where is this information posted, either online or in person or I would not have bothered to stop by. I am one of those folks who has had money and identity stolen with credit cards, and I only use cash now. I will not be patronizing this establishment. We were so excited to try this place because the menu looked amazing with the variety of pupusa options. We ordered a few different things and there were hits and misses. The iced horchata latte is so good - perfect for a hot day. I ordered the classic pupusa with cheese and black beans - delicious. Perfect cheese to bean ratio. I also had the green chicken mole, which unfortunately I didn't enjoy as much. Not enough chicken and very dry - definitely needed more of the green mole sauce in it. I'm someone who loves topping my pupusa with the red salsa and curtido. They don't give enough at all. The size of the curtido is what I use for each bite, and the salsa was much thicker than what I'm used to. The fried plantains though, melt in your mouth goodness! I could eat a plate of those. There is no indoor sitting area, just a few tables outside which is shared with another food window next door. read more

I found this place while looking for another restaurant. I have always wanted to try pupusas and Arepas so I am still learning the difference but the food was good. I am not a huge fan of cornmeal, which is what the pupusa dough was made of but the salsa and pickled slaw made it even more delicious. I was not a fan of the plantains because I am used to the Caribbean style of plantains. I definitely think this place is worth a try for people who like Pupusas and want to try something new. I discovered this gem while doing professional development at West End Academy and did a search for local places to support. Upon discovering their site, I gave them a try as I love trying all types of food and had honestly never had pupusas before. This ended up being a fantastic discover. The pros: 1. Easy to to order and pickup. They do everything from their own site. You're can add and delete items with ease. You're provided with a finishing/pick-up time. You're then sent a text reminding you of your order and completion time. Finally, you get a text informing you that your food is ready. 2. The place is easy to find as it's right off of Abernathy in a converted district. It's the first business as you drive in and easy to walk to. They have a window where you can pick up your order and either eat at one of their tables or back at your work/home. 3. The food receives my coveted "FFFF" rating for being fresh, fantastic, flavorful, and friendly. This is a good thing. 4. The service was quick and friendly, just as a person would want when they order pick-up. Cons: 1. None at all. If you get lost, why aren't you using Google Maps to find the place. Parking is plentiful and the food is fresh and flavorful. This is a top tier place in my opinion. Remember to support your local places and avoid those big chains that really aren't good at all. Very low-key and small shop with extremely good pupusas. Ordered one Chicharron and one chicken and red chili with side of beans and fried plantains. They were both very good and they have complimentary slaw and hot sauces available. During the winter, the owner brings in all her plants and it's a quaint little place. As a Los Angeles native, I have eaten a lot of pupusas in my time (there are likely 100 pupuserias in L.A. and several Salvadorean restaurants) and I have searched them out elsewhere. In the Atlanta area, most are in the Norcross area, where I assume there is an El Salvadorean community. La Bodega is a new takeout lunch spot at the front of a large business park/converted warehouse space called MET with some massive sculptures in the front. It's southwest of downtown and much more convenient to anyone in the city craving pupusas than the pupuserias that are on a distant stretch of Buford Highway. All the various vegetarian pupusas we ordered were as groovy as any I have had and the menu is much more extensive than you will find at your average pupuseria. Highly recommended. read more

So let me start this off by saying I always to support local businesses and understand we are still dealing with COVID prices. However today was super unfortunate. I ordered a to go order online for LA Bodega. The order was ready quick. I picked up the box and to my surprise it was quite light. I ordered a vegan salad with 2 oz of chicken on it. The total came to $17ish. What I got is maybe worth $10 and I got no where near 2 oz of chicken. This is super disappointing. I understand we are all hurting, but paying $17 for salad and not getting an appropriate amount for the price is unacceptable. I likely won't be going back which is unfortunate. We stopped by on a Sunday in late October looking for a caffeine boost. Their coffee bar has a lot of choices. We had 2 Dulce con Leche. The drinks were great.
