Mi galán disfrutó de un cigarro. This being one of few spaces you can enjoy a cigar in Mexico with the exceptions of some open air patios or smoking lounges such as La Casa del Habano. There were names and messages on every wall and pilar including the ceiling, lots of impressions, memories and moments, but definitely limited space in reachable places. I totally spaced on writing our names, but the memories we shared here and in PV were amazing + we agreed we'd back. Our server was nothing but amazing, we enjoyed some perfect platanos, a mango mojito and a moxito for me. They upgraded his ashtray to the coolest cigar tray I've ever seen (large with a resting spot for the cigar. My mojito was incredible but not as amazing as the flavor mojitos they make here. Best of the best! As authentic as it gets! There was música rica/rich musica the entire time we were here. The layout is fun and spacious being two levels. Restrooms are clean and accessible. We had a meal before coming here so I can't really speak to the entirety of the dishes plus I'm a veggie, but they have a lot of appetizers/shareables, desserts, specials, tacos, ceviche dishes, pescado, ensaladas, empanadas y más! We stopped by La Bodeguita del Medio for drinks one afternoon. The restaurant was crowded, but we found a table right by the front window. The breeze was wonderful and it was nice to look at the ocean. Our waitress was pleasant and attentive. I had a limonada and my brother had a mint mojito. The drinks were great, and we eventually decided to order food. We shared a plate of Moros y Cristianos/Arroz Congri. It was really good. My brother also ordered fish tacos. He said the fish was fresh and delicious. The overall vibe of the restaurant was chill. There was a live band playing who were pretty good. I'd definitely visit La Bodeguita del Medio again if given the opportunity. read more

La Bodeguita was on a must-do list for local dancing in Puerto Vallarta. My partner and I love to do salsa dancing back at home on a novice level, and every night there was a live band playing a little bit later than advertised, which we were told was normal. It is best to make reservations if you plan on eating because it does fill quite quickly, even at later hours of the night. You can come in and opt to just go dancing and stay near the bar. This is where my review gets a little 50-50. I love love love the vibe inside, the live band, and that everybody is respectful of everyone else's dance styles. There were people from all over the world doing their own versions of Latin dancing, and it was so exciting to just sit back and watch sometimes. The cocktails were a bit weak and short. Let's face it, if you see me doing nightlife traveling, I probably have a cocktail nearby. I wouldn't say I'm an expert, but I know a crappy cocktail when I taste one. Reminds me of when you go to one of those all-inclusive resorts and they try to water the drinks down a bit or something to keep the clientele drinking, except in this case, you have to pay for each glass. So pro-tip number one, pregame before coming. This is fine because you will be walking here anyways. The food reviews were pretty much spot on. I had a delicious piece of chicken, but the staff really weren't really experienced, and missed out on the opportunity to of sell me some rice or other things to go with the plain chicken on the plate. (Con arroz?) They weren't especially attentive, because I probably would've ordered more food if they came back. Anyhow, getting back to some of my favorite things, we got to experience watching the lunar eclipse through the open ceiling in the dance area, and it was just a stunning moment in the trip. The most amazing aqua chili that I've ever had in my life. Great Mojitos, fun dancing. I stopped here every time in Puerto Vallarta.

The place was so nice we visited twice! First night was for the live band and salsa dancing. The place is really tight during live shows but in a good way. A lot of great dancers and a really good band the night we went. The following Sunday we went back for lunch and enjoyed a Cuban sandwich and some Vaca Frita. The food was good but a tad on the lukewarm room temperature side. However, the view from the top floor is great and the service was adequate. We had the mixed appetizer which consisted of fried pork chunks, meatballs, tostones, chicken wings and cheese balls. We also had the empanadas, I was not that fond of them. Quality: 5 Value: 4 Service: 4 Ambience: 1,000 La Bodeguita Del Medio offers live Cuban salsa/jazz almost every night, and the band consistently crushes it. They perform all the favorite Cuban standards and mix in new songs, too. The graffiti all over that you can add to is honestly so much fun, and their bar is impressive. Food is middle of the road, but the tostones are great and so is the ham Cubano sandwich. You don't come here for the food, though, you come here to dance, watch others dance, and just VIBE to deafening and exhilarating live music, while looking out at the ocean. Great place for dancing. The ceviche looked like gelatinous, translucent, sliced flat, slimy, muck. I have had ceviche in Isla, Mexico City, La Paz, Loreto, Merida, Yucatan, and all over the U.S. Not one bite and had a real problem getting them to remove it from my check. Great music and fun place to dance and have mojitos. This review is not about the food, because I have not eaten there yet. Mojitos are made with Havana Club 3 years (aged) which is a very authentic way to enjoy a good mojito. The music was good, the ambiance was healthy and fun. Going back tonight! read more

I wanted to love this place so bad cause it's really a neat venue. We were seated upstairs which had a beautiful view of the malecón and a nice breeze. Our service took sooo long. I think she was overwhelmed with a large table that sat across from us. But we were the only 2 tables in there at that time. I ordered the mojito thinking it would be authentic but sadly it was not at all. The mint tasted awful, it was watered down and there was hardly any rum in it. My daughter ordered a virgin mojito and sadly it was the same(minus the rum issue, of course). We did get the ceviche which was really good! Very fresh and had a wonderful flavor. As we were walking out we were admiring the bar and I noticed glasses lined up all down the bar with mint inside of it and plastic wrap on top of it. The mint looked stale in all the cups, like it went bad which doesn't surprise me cause it was very hot and humid that day and very warm downstairs by the bar. I wish they made them fresh and came with sugarcane like they do in Cuba. read more

We come here every time we are in puerto Vallarta. It's right on the Mallocon, so you can't miss it. Graffiti covers the walls which reminds me of one of my favorite bars in East Lansing Michigan. They have live music all the time and people dance in the evenings. It's a great view of the ocean and boardwalk. Food is decent, not the best I've had in downtown. Maybe we ordered wrong though. Don't pass this up for drinks and entertainment if downtown PV! read more

Overpriced for what it is. The food was dry and the wings tasted like they had ketchup on it instead of the sauce. The Mojitos were watery, and the ropa vieja was mid at best. It was all pretty expensive and was for sure the worst meal of my 4 day trip. No wonder they had so much open space and no wait. "Best meal I've had in Puerto Vallarta" Cuban food isn't normally on the top of my dining experience but the reviews on this place got us intrigued and boy did they not disappoint. The view enough will get you in the mood. Now add some live music serenading you and some really really good food and you got yourself an experience. We have been to the La Bodeguita del Medio several times but the last time we were there they had just changed the menu. The food was still just as good as all the other times we've been there. The drinks were also great. Several traditional Cuban and tropical drinks on the menu. The service is good but slow. This is due to must items are cooked as ordered so everything is fresh. The portions are large enough to share. However nothing beats the views from the 2nd floor. The views of the Malecón are great. Always something new to see. So this Cuban restaurant is right on the beach, has a live Cuban band, good food, and is fun and alive with light. My fish was good but not incredible. Not bad. We sat on the second floor towards the front of the restaurant so we can get a good view of the malecon. Ate some appetizer and while waiting for our paella we got a great view of the sunset and the guys who do that performance where they spin from the top of the pole to the bottom. At about 9pm they have a great live band and the dance floor is open. Another plus is the free wifi as most hotels around PV make wifi an additional charge per day. read more
