Making the steep trek up to Sacré-Cœur Basilica, my wife and I realized that we needed to stop for a snack and to rehydrate. If you've ever been in this area, since it is a tourist location, it has a ton of dining options. Fortunately, our decision was made when a friendly employee (unfortunately I did not obtain his name) from La Bonne Franquette emerged from the restaurant and encouraged us to check out the menu. After identifying some wine selections of our desire, we decided to make this our snack spot. We placed an order for a charcuterie board and multiple glasses of wine. The charcuterie board was the perfect size for our appetites and paired perfectly with our wines. Although the restaurant was quickly filling up with tourists (who are not always the friendliest), the employee did a great job of checking in with us. If you're in the area and looking to enjoy a meal or a drink or two, I suggest visiting La Bonne Franquette. read more

On a day trip our Programm director had reservations for our group here. Sometimes a large group is a bit unmanageable but this was handled well. A room in the back was ready for us with wine in the table! We had chosen our meals ahead of time so we were served quickly. We bit had the beef with we think a polenta side and a chocolate desert. This is a nice French restaurant at Montmatre, on the oldest street in Paris. After shopping in the area, we came here for a light lunch. The ambience was nice and cute. The service was attentive. We had the French onion soup for lunch. It tasted good. For dessert, we got the chocolate filled crepe. Enough to keep us going. My mom and I were looking for places to grab coffee today and stumbled upon La Bonne Franquette. We had just been turned down across the street, so we were happy when the staff offered us a seat in front of the bar area. We were greeted quickly with menus and we ordered cappuccinos. This spot felt much like an upscale Irish pub with a beautiful exterior! The interior space was very clean towards the back, and the front was a little messier due to high turnover areas. Staff was quick to come clean the tables for people to sit. Our waiter was very friendly and we watched him make the cappuccinos while we waited. Everyone who stopped at our table was super kind! Delightful cheeses and wine! My family and I had a cheese and wine tasting courtesy of our local guide from the Withlocals company. We ordered various local cheeses which ranged from being very pungent to more on the mild side and wines to accompany them. The local wines paired great and complemented the cheese perfectly. Our server was friendly as well. There's also a large party room in the back of the restaurant for large gatherings. Our guide says he attends monthly meetings here which was cool to know. Well I enjoyed my meal. My wife didn't. She loved their onion soup. Good portion of cheese. But she did not like that tilapia. Didn't even eat it. It was dry and overcooked. They had sauce over the fish which didn't masked the dryness of fish. I, however, had the escargot. Which was absolutely delicious. And the duck l'orange. Good sauce. Beautiful French restaurant located in the Montmartre District. That being said you can only imagine how amazingly gorgeous this area is. Located at the very top of the hill offers a breathtaking view of Boulevard de Clichy & all its glory. On the hike up you will be inundated with artists, art works, souvenir shops, Parisians, peddlers and picturesque views! Take your time to take it all in. Sheeesh I forgot this review was about the La Bonne Franquette not Montmartre lol... I digress. Dinner was amazing! What I remember most was the escargot...finger licking good. The French onion soup was also a big hit as well as the tilapia. Another unforgettable amenity was the like pianist who was full of spunk, hospitality and charm. Service was simply award winning. Our tour manager made dinner reservations here and it is was totally a Parisian experience. There were several group parties there at the time, but we were seated with an entertaining and engaging pianist that put some restaurant musicians in New York to shame. 1. Onion soup - the way it should be. Light on the cheese and not too heavy. 2. Duck a l'orange - very flavorful, meat was cooked well enough that it falls off the bone but not dry. 3. Chocolate cake - who doesn't like chocolate cake? If I go back to Paris, I would definitely hike all the way back up to Montmartre just to eat there again. We visited Montmartre on our last day in Paris. We were immediately struck by the picturesque view of La Bonne Franquette, and decided we had to stop for a celebratory toast (our travel companions had just gotten married in Paris). Upon hearing about the newlyweds in our party, Jeffrey (manager) immediately offered a complimentary glass of champagne and some snacks. This is a nice restaurant located in Montmartre. Our tour guide from Trafalgar took us here for our last night in Paris. We were not disappointed. Few things on our menu were: escargot, french onion soup (much better here than in the US where it's usually salty and too much cheese), bœuf bourguignon (beef stew), duck confit with orange sauce, chocolate cake for dessert and the wine was delicious. I would recommend visiting this restaurant if you are visiting the Montmartre area. read more

La bonne franquette is located in the very touristy neighborhood of Montmartre just a stones throw away from the famous Sacré Coeur. We arrived before the lunch rush but the service was still incredibly slow and we didn't have all of the silverware and aprons until the meal was underway. The ambiance is nice and prices are about what you'd expect around here ($25-$30 entrees). We enjoyed a glass of Beaujolais red with our meal that paired quite nicely. I tried the duck thigh with orange sauce (La cuisse de canard roti à l'orange confit) and enjoyed it quite a bit. My colleagues enjoyed their meals as well although they mixed up one of their dessert orders. Overall satisfying but with the service I would not come back before first trying other options in the neighborhood. read more

I also was on a tour when I visited this place. €29 for the whole experience, how much better can it get It's a cute little place located near the basilica and in a cute and classy location. That does sound a bit like an oxymoron since basically all of Paris is classy but this is especially worth mentioning. The place just looks so cute. It's beyond words. My meal went something like this: 1. Escargots. Thanks to the waiter for being patient and showing me how to eat them, as I had to crush the shell apart that one time (LOL!!!). and I got an exta plate! Yay! That said they were sooooooo yummy. 2. Boeuf Bourginon. Holy crap, that was yummy. They served it on mashed potatoes and it just melts in your mouth. 3. chocolate Cake. A simple desert French style. Absolutely delicious. Alright, the brie I could have dine without, but that doesn't matter. And the wine. Hot damn, the wine. I downed an entire bottle of that stuff it was so yummy. Simply put, this is the perfect French restaurant. Do NOT pass up the opportunity to go if you're ever in Paris. read more

Also part of the epic June 2013 birthday week spectacular. We took the subway up to Monmartre one day to check out the views and various artists. It was absolutely pouring, but you're in Paris, so who cares. Finally decided on this place, God forbid I rush any food decision, even when we are soaking wet and starving - I am such a PITA. But we did good making this selection, though it seemed you couldn't really go wrong in Paris. We had French onion soup for the first time while it Paris, again, so much better than most variations we've had here - lighter on the cheese. Also had this sardines pate, you either love or you hate sardines, I think they are more manageable in pate form. I can't make out the rest of the meal, but again, we really didn't have a bad meal in Paris. We did end the meal with this wonderful cassis dessert, may have almost been like a cheesecake but lighter. And as usual, there was enough great wine to complete the meal. Also seems a coffee was ordered, kinda odd as neither one of us drinks coffee. While you're up there to check out the view, small shops and artists, you can't go wrong with a stop at La Bonne Franquette. Yet another fantastic meal in Paris. read more

Closed at 9:30, when their posted hours are top 10:00. I sat at a table and waited for almost 20 minutes being ignored, before I finally walked inside to ask if I could have dinner. Nobody bothered to even come to the table. Classic touristy area stuff. read more

With this in mind, this restaurant is at least 4 stars for where it is, the experience, and the food. It is really more of a 3 star elsewhere in Paris, but we had good food, with reasonable service, and for its location wouldn't recommend you eat somewhere else if you're in this area. read more

All media said it was open on Sunday, as many are not. We got there at 7:30 PM, 30 minutes after they would have ostensibly opened and the staff was inside sitting at a table laughing and drinking wine. All the chairs were on top of the tables. They wouldn't even look at the patrons who were knocking to see if they were going to open. Arrogance. Won't go back. No idea why they decided not to open. Or, more importantly, why they were so unkind as to acknowledge us. read more

I was also directed here by a guide, but it was one of the best meals I had in Paris. The waiter was fantastic, the house wine wasn't bad, and the food was great. I was only in the city for a few weeks, so my range of experience is admittedly limited, but I enjoyed the escargot and duck a l'orange here more than any other place I tried them. I was also told a number of famous artists used to frequent here when they lived in the Latin Quarter, but I have no way of knowing if this is factual. Still very much worht a visit. read more
