A couple in front of me was in a heated argument about what "being exclusive" really meant, while two separate groups of 4 to my right were feeling no pain and enjoying a poutine night cap. There I was, sipping on my black coffee mentally prepping myself for the 45 mile (72 km) day I had in front of me. The dichotomy of life. I asked the server what the most popular item was, and he said La Scooby. This monstrosity consisted of fresh cut fries, cheese, gravy, ground beef, bacon, onions, fried pickles, and caesar dressing garlic sauce. I got the small ($12.40 usd), but this thing was a TANK. It was bigger than my head and I have a HUGE head. The large must be a family style portion or somethin. Upon first bite, it was damn good. I completely see the poutine appeal. Is it an ideal meal dead sober at 4:11am? No, absolutely not, but this is an S-tier hangover food. Also, if there is ever a day when I need some extra calories, it's on a 100k step day. So we lined up and I got the big portion. He warned me it was huge. And sure enough - it is a gigantic portion! It's more like for 2-3 people. I got smoked meat, sausage, mushrooms (1 substitution allowed). It is incredible. The cheese is so soft and melty and the sauce works really well. The smoked meat has amazing taste and is so good as are the sausages. Next time I would get the small portion though. It's more than good enough. :)

When we visited, the line wrapped around the corner of the shop and it was about a 30 minute wait for us. There is one counter to order and you pay at the end of the line up when your order is complete. There are some tables inside if you want to dine in. When I got the poutine, I was surprised by the portion size. Depending on your appetite, I'd say it can be shared between 2-4 people. They have some pastries at the front counter as well. Note: There is also a back side door if you need to meet the rest of your party that is already inside - so it doesn't look like you're cutting the line! :)

The back patio is one of those spaces you'd never know existed from the street. While sitting next to a dog. He did not share. I feel like we've covered this issue before. The regular mac and cheese is very creamy and mild, I would have liked something with slightly sharper cheddar but it was still a treat and very decadent. Their drink menu is larger than their food menu, but despite that they have a nice variety. I didn't see any pattern with the food - there was a mix of plate sizes and types of cuisines. The pulled pork sliders looked good so I went with those; the dish came with two sliders and a side of coleslaw. I really enjoyed this - there was a generous helping of pork in each slider and the sauce had a nice tang to it. I'm normally not a fan of slaw since it is usually cream-based, but this one wasn't so it was quite refreshing and a good contrast to the pork. Service was great, the entire team was friendly. Overall, this was a really good find in Montreal - if you're looking for something low-key with solid food then this would be ideal. I'm interested how the vibe changes at night, so I would be open to returning in the evening for a drink and to explore more of their menu.
