A more authentic taqueria vibe than I'm used to for Utah, not the full deal w/ pastor and lengua and that but it does have carnitas at least. And it really isn't bad either. I hade ate half of the quesabirra and decided to set it aside to try the pephihuates...well as soon as I took the 3rd spoon full I noticed this nasty bug in it!! This was my first time visit to La Botana. I was looking to try some Birria tacos since I've never eaten them before and have heard many great things about them. I'll just say my taste buds were not disappointed! The beef was juicy and tender. The vegetables, fresh and crunchy. And the cheese, gooey and delicious!! I added the red salsa to my tacos because I like a little bit of spice with my Hispanic food, it paired very well with the whole dish but is also just as good without. I will definitely be returning for more but will be getting a larger sized meal as the two tacos were not enough to fulfill my appetite. 10/10 would recommend!! read more

Legit Mexican place with good horchata and agua fresca. The esquites come with or without green chiles. There is a decent salsa bar. No complaints about the rolled tacos or street tacos. They also make delicious blended fruit drinks. Lots of locals and lots of speaking Spanish which, to me, is s a good indication that I'm gonna eat some delicious food. Yelp says they are open on Sundays, but alas, it is not. Counter staff is friendly and helpful. I recommend it for dine in or take out for sure. read more

This place is the epitome of 'don't judge a book by its cover.' As we parked, my husband was actually leery about eating here. I showed him other people's amazing pictures, though, and said I had to try whatever the giant pineapple thing was. I ended up getting the half size based on the employee's suggestion and am super glad I did. I have no idea how someone could eat a whole one. The pineapple was cut in half and cored, then filled with spears of all sorts of fruits, some of which I'm not even sure what they were. Lol. There were even cucumbers! It was drizzled with this crazy unique sauce that seemed like strawberry with chipotle chili powder and/or cayenne. It was fruity, sweet, and unexpectedly spicy. So to start off, I found this place by accident. I was looking for the Taco Time across the street because I had limited time, and its closed. Went to La Botana, on their drive though. As of now, I have gone there 3 times and decided to come post a review because this is one of the great mexican places you are hoping to find! First off, its now the "Covid" epidemic and you can now only go through their drive through at this time. Because this was my 3rd time and I liked what I got before, I ordered 3 full meals with their rice and beans. Why did I order 3 meals.... because they are pretty large and one meal makes 3 meals for me and I freeze the rest for later! I ordered the Chimichanga, Asada, with rice and beans, the Chili Rellenos full meal, and the 2 Cheese Enchiladas full meal. The chimichanga is excellent, and the meat is perfect and all the stuffings are fresh and compliment La Botana's original recipe. The Chili Relleno is extremely large and is actually 2 chilis fanned out and layered with all the cheese and stuffings, like a lasagna recipe would be. This alone is 3 servings for me. The cheese enchiladas are exactly the way I like them to be also and are definitely like real Mexican cheese enchiladas. Their rice is different than most mexican restaurants. Its a fluffy white rice, very full of flavor but not over spiced and I especially like it this way to compliment all the other flavors they have packed in their recipes. I order the extra food, take it home, and divide it up on freezer/micro plates to reheat for later. When done this way, it comes out just like I got it from the restaurant! Their food is EXCELLENT! Their take out containers are large and they are the heavy duty aluminum ones with plastic lids, not just the plastic take out boxes. The food is good I go there all the time. But the last two times I have been there the old lady in the back comes out and start watching me fill up the sauce cups that is up in the front. This most recent time she came up to me and in Spanish told me that I could not take any more sauce. Now being a paying customer where there is no limit clearly stated that you can only take so many sauces when I only had six total seems a little bit ridiculous.
