Loving La Bottega! I was traveling out to Roslyn for the day and was looking for a nice sit-down place to eat with a casual atmosphere. And with good food/prices of course. We were eating a bit later in the afternoon so we hoped we would find a place that was still serving. And voila! We found La Bottega. Very rustic, Italian eatery with hardwood floors and a warm ambiance. We sat down and they bring you fresh bread served with EVOO (as Rachel Ray would say) which was the perfect accompaniment. The menu is pretty large. They have tons of variations on something as simple as the panini. They also had salads, pizza, pasta, desserts, (gelato!), etc. I decided on the Chicken Panini -- Savona. This was grilled chicken with fresh mozzarella, tomato and roasted garlic aioli on ciabatta. It was delicious. The bread was very crunchy and everything was pressed so the cheese just melted in your mouth. I have to say... it's a pretty hearty sandwich so I ended up only eating one half and taking the other home (which I then ate for dinner.) All for $8.75! To be honest, I'm very frustrated that the food here is SO good because the service is not. I placed an online order at 5:00 and was given a 5:45 pick up time. I got there and the staff told me I didn't have an order placed, found my order within the system, and I still had to wait 20 minutes for it to be ready beyond that. The cashier who helped me didn't give me any information about how much longer it would take it aside from "we're still waiting for it." I'll be trying another La Bottega location next time and will hopefully have a better experience. read more

Today was my 4th time getting lunch here. My company orders here so I have attempted many times to get something I like, from salads, paninis, side and today... pasta. Firstly, I ordered a pasta that is called Linguine al PESTO e Gamberoni. The sauce was red, no pesto in site and I can't call it marinara either because it was watery and flavorless. To top it off, they drenched the dish in this tomato juice and served it in a paper box with a side of plain, dried out bread. Just gross. Step it up people. For the record, the one salad I ordered was a bunch of wilted, slimy greens, the panini was hard and tasteless and the bruschette order was small and hard as a rock. Wowzer, this place was crowded on a Saturday night. For a group of 4, we were told it would be 20 minutes. We didn't have the time to spare, so we decided to do take out, which was surprisingly quick. It was ready in under 20 minutes! The food was surprisingly good and traveled well. I got the Salmon salad with guacamole, phenomenal! And such a large piece of Salmon. The dressing and Guac came in containers on the side, without me asking! The dressing itself was weird, but since we went back to a house, I had options. The outdoor seating here is very quaint and the decor inside makes this place seem more high end than it is, in a good way, like you would think the food is more expensive than it is. The young man at the front, he may have been a manager or owner -- he was highly unpleasant and unwelcoming. I wanted to cancel my order but i stuck it out. Tonight I had a pretty bad experience I choked on a piece of plastic that was baked in my pizza. I had to spit out the shard of plastic that resembled glass, which I thought it was at first. The staff proceeded to inform me that it was their to go box container, but why was there little pieces of plastic inside something that you're serving to customers anyway ? 2/10 experience would not come back meanwhile the night started off bad with the sassy negative vibes from the server who I asked what other drinks there were since I was not provided a drink menu. He just said there was only wine and beer but looking at the other tables people had cocktails and teas which I was not informed there was any. read more

This location is constantly disappointing. My coworkers and I ordered lunch at 10:45am, at 12:45pm we still Had not received our order (3 paninis). We called the restaurant twice and both times we were told the order is on its way. We were given the driver's cell phone # and when we called the driver he said he was 5 minutes away. A half hour later and we still had not received our order. Please keep in mind, the Roslyn location is a 7 minute drive from our office. All 3 times we called the girl that answered the phone was rude, we finally called to cancel the order and have my credit card refunded. Still waiting on my refund. To be honest, they don't even deserve the 1 star, but I can't post my review without it. read more

This is my second time trying La Bottega. I placed my order by phone and went to go pick it up. I ordered from the Lunch Box Menu.. only to find out the panini I wanted they no longer offered it. Although I was pretty disappointed with that, I decided to give another panini a try. I got the half Bietole salad and half Erika panini. This special is $12 plus tax. Which I found to be a little pricey for the amount of food but I have to admit I did enjoy it very much. The salad had beets in it which I am not a big fan of but I was glad I chose this salad because it still tasted pretty great. I enjoyed the dressing that came with it as well. The panini was very delicious just hoped it was a little big bigger in portion. As far as parking, I didn't notice if there was a parking lot but I did end up parking on the street. Called to place a pick up order today. The woman who answered was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. I wanted the Sal Salad but with a cheese added. She told me all my options, it was great. Picked up the order it was ready in less than 10 minutes. The dining area was packed. But I paid and then was on my way. The salad was delicious and huge, couldn't finish it. Where is all the good food on Long Island? Apparently, it's hiding. However, La Bottega is simply the best place for Panini's. Hands-down. Their soups are also quite good as well. The Zuppa de Pesce is literally filled with mussels and clams. My small order had 4 large mussels, 2 pieces of calamari, a clam, a shrimp, and countless tasty veggies. I used to love this place so much. I went almost every weekend, and would sometimes grab a quick dinner here. They have since vastly expanded their little "empire" and every version of it has gone downhill. Today's experience there was really terrible. It took 30 minutes to get our soup, which was very obviously watered down (I'd had the soup before). No apology for the really ridiculous wait. It's a crappy feeling when you feel like the wait staff is ignoring you instead of apologizing for the shoddy service that we are PAYING for. There is no management in this restaurant and it's becoming increasingly obvious which is hugely disappointing. Sad to see a great thing lose its luster. read more

We like the food there so went back today at 5 PM. The head waiter / Manger? was rude. He was counting a lot of money and no one bothered to come by to take our order. When he finally did he was rude, like we were intruding on his day! He did not wash his hands after counting all that money. was it pay day? Also we had to ask for straws and napkins. We saw the lady wrapping up utensils in the napkin and literally it was like a paper napkin used by her. They should give clean napkins along with the one wrapped around the utensils. Our salads sat on the counter for a good 10 minutes before the same guy picked them up and brought them to the table. The service is awful, and rude. BTW it's an Italian restaurant so why the loud Spanish music? Is there ever an owner around to see what's going on? I don't I will be going there again anytime soon. As we were leaving 2 ladies came up to the cashier to cancel their order because they had been waiting too long. I am giving it a 1 star rating for the poor service. The food is good. read more

Parking is a real bear, the lot is too small and street parking is tough, but it's well worth the hassle. Very good panini and so many to choose from. Pretty good salads too. Good food but awful front desk service. After calling in an order and waiting an hour (as per the cashiers over the phone recommendation), I was told my order was not in the system. Our cashier proceeded to tell me that I didn't place an order, then after reluctantly agreeing to have me read her the exact order, credit card number, and phone number stated "Oh I did take this order and forgot to print the ticket". Giving this place 4 stars simply becuase of the service. The food is great...but the service is not. We sat down for an early dinner, place was pretty much empty and our server was rushing us with an attitude. Any questions we had were answered with a short and annoyed response. But, I had a great salad- the bietole- which I highly reccomend. I love that you can make some changes to the salad as well. I came here for dinner on a Saturday night with a group of friends and their significant others. We had reservations for 8 people at 6:30 and were seated right away. I only have good things to say about my experience. We got a pitcher of sangria for the table and it was really good. It was a nice touch that it was served in real wine glasses and not plastic cups. Next we ordered some bruschetta and it was delicious. For entrees we all got panini's. I ordered the Panini Agrigento with grilled shrimp and artichoke... soooo good! A couple of the boys got the Hamburger Moderna panini and loved them. I probably wouldn't try to come here during the dinner rush b/c I've heard it gets crowded and parking can be tough. They can ALWAYS satiate my salad craving. Or panini. Or if I ask for a panini as a salad, they're great about that too. I call it a paninad. Just kidding--I should though. The only reason they lose a star is because the service is kind of fwah. But seriously, all of the salads are chock full o' delicious ingredients, almost all of which are made in-house. I take out mostly on my way home from exercising. I usually get their avocado salad with field greens not iceberg. It is what it is....a good salad. A large portion, 3/4 is about enough for me. When I do eat their I find the service a bit lacking. Now that the weather is getting nice they have a front deck to dine which is really nice. UPDATE : I swore I would never go back to this La Bottega after the last few times, but I regrettably did today. If you have an allergy, do not go to this location. I almost got sick from this restaurant! I didn't want to come to La Bottega based on past experiences, but  my family was together and they insisted on having family dinner take-out. I specified my allergy when I placed an order over the phone and the cashier confirmed that the panini was gluten-free when I was there. When I got home, I checked the panini and it wasn't gluten-free. When I called back to see if I could have my panini delivered, the same receptionist was so rude. She claimed I never specified the allergy and she refused to give me credit or money back because (once again, there was NO manager available). The last time I went there I couldn't get a hold of the manager even though I called, emailed and went in several times. I never got my money back. I am in the food and service industry and I would never treat a customer so poorly if there was a mistake, especially if it was on the restaurants end. Firstly, there should always be a manager on staff for situations like this! Secondly, allergies are life threatening and restaurants like La Bottega should train their staff if they are adding options to their menu. I've decided to update my review based on the last 3 lousy experiences at this La Bottega.. Recently my boyfriend and I dined in sometime between lunch and dinner when the restaurant was empty. However our waiter was not attentive, we constantly had to ask for water, and he managed to mess up our lunch order by giving me a panini that was NOT gluten free, when I specifically ordered gluten free after noting that I have an allergy. This is a NO NO when it comes to allergies. He also messed up our dessert order by giving us coffee instead of Gelato, which I'm not sure how the two are similar. The service was slow and diastarous so I swore we'd order out the follow time. For the following take out, we were told the order would be 15 mins, however when we got there, we waited over 30 mins and we were both late to work. Once again, it wasn't a busy time so I have no idea why it took longer than expected. But since I work in a service industry, we gave them the benefit of the doubt that maybe they were short staffed. Last night was the last straw. After a long grueling day, we ordered 2 paninis and noted some changes to fit our allergies. The person on the phone stated 15 mins. We decided to arrive 20 mins after we placed the order in case they ran late. We ended up waited 20 mins from the time we ordered + 50 mins at the restaurant for our paninis. Other customers who ordered takeout after us, came and left. Those who dined in were finished with their paninis as we were still waiting for ours. We asked where our paninis were, but the person at the counter reassured us every 5 minutes that it would only be 1 more minute. We wanted a refund but he said it would be right out. He made no effort to make sure it was ready. Finally after 30 mins, we see the kitchen staff creating our paninis!! We asked to speak to a manager or someone in charge but they said NOBODY IS IN CHARGE. How do you run a business without a manager or assistant manager on staff?? Customers who came in watching this bad service turned away after hearing that we waited 50 minutes... so unfortunately you lost more than just 2 customers that night. You lost several groups. When we opened our paninis we found that the kitchen did not customize our paninis due to us mention our allergy. This was the last time we will ever go to this La Bottega and we will be sure to spread the word to our friends and family.. Instead I was travel further to receive better customer service and allergy sensitive! read more

It's funny reading all the varying reviews and seeing how different peoples experiences are. I'm updating my review because things have certainly changed since my last one. This place is now charging extra for salad dressing even if you are eating in the dining room!! I thought it was ludicrous for them to charge extra when you're ordering three or four chicken avocado salad's for take-out. But they figured out a way to make it even worse by having a waiter tell you that you're going to be charged even if you're eating in the restaurant!! The thing is their balsamic salad dressing isn't really even good anymore!! It used to be thick and creamy and now it's just an Unpleasing watery mix. And whereas Guiseppe was very helpful in the past, he no longer returns phone calls or tries to keep his establishment running in a good way.
