Escargot (course 1 of 3) ~ €15 total
Jean S.

La Braserade is located down a popular food alley, not far from the Louvre. This area is a great location to get some more reasonably priced food in Paris. While walking down the alley, there were quite a few number of sit down restaurants that were offering 3 course meals for €15. As we walked through the alley, we surveyed what was being offered for the 3 course meals. La Braserade wasn't my first choice, but I was okay with it since everyone else wanted to eat here. I ordered the 3 course meal for €15 and chose escargot for appetizer, duck confit for entrée, and crème brûlée for dessert. The escargot was pretty good, with the snails coming in various sizes. Some were very tiny and some were decent size. There were 6 snails to the order. The duck confit was mainly the duck leg and a little of the thigh. The meat was really tender and the flavor was pretty good. However, it was surprisingly served with French fries, which seemed a little basic. The fries were not bad, but just reminded me of McDonald's. The crème brûlée was disappointing. The flavor and texture was off and it tasted unpleasant. I never knew crème brûlée could be not good, but this placed showed me. I tried the chocolate mousse and it was just a slightly better order. Service was...interesting. Our server was very talkative and I would say "friendly", however, for some reason, he kept talking about famous people he knew. There was another server that helped to bring out food that was oddly rude and pretty much did not want to help, answer questions, or be bothered, other than delivering food. Overall, La Braserade is a very simple restaurant. Nothing too fancy or high end, but then again, the prices are not expensive either. 3 courses for €15 seemed like a good deal after dining at overpriced touristy restaurants the last couple of days.

Fondue

AMAZING restaurant! Food has many options. Service is great and the restaurant is beautiful with old historical architect.

Cheese and beef fondue

My new favorite place. Located on a cute little side street by Norte dame. We had cheese and beef fondue and absolutely loved it. The owner was also super kind and speaks English if needed. I just moved to Paris and will definitely be bringing friends and family back soon

Creme brûlée.

Another Left Bank restaurant. Another fixed price meal. This was pretty decent. I mostly remember the French Alps decor. Good service.

I'm convinced it's one of the best choices on the menu. Later I met locals who had their birthdays there and I realized it is a very special place for locals and tourists alike. If you go ask, for the lower dining room. Forget your cellphone it won't work anyway. Enjoy the warm fondue and atmosphere for a while. Gluten free bread is also available. In a sweet area with lots of cool vintage shopping spots and a dance school! What a delicious dream.

The staff were all friendly and spoke English as well, so it was easy to order. They offer many types of cheese from regions of France, we ordered one of the cheese fondues and a salad. The fondues come with potatoes and bread. We enjoyed the salad and it provided some much needed veggies. The cheese fondue comes in a hotpot and you dip the bread and potatoes into it with a fondue fork. After trying it, I think I prefer cheese only when it's paired with meat, so I probably should've ordered the one with meat. It was also really late and I was quite tired from being out all day, so that may have also contributed to me feeling subpar about the meal. However, if you're a cheese lover, this restaurant should be right up your alley. Come here if you love cheese!

Those veggies is good for the stone grill. We also got the meat grilled on the preheat stone. The spice on it make it nice including the olive oil. The fried oil section also great. Best accidental discovery ever!…read more We were wandering the streets of Paris on our last night looking for a restaurant for one last memorable meal. On a whim we came in here because we saw that they served fondue and we thought that would be a good idea for supper. The restaurant name translates into "Fortunate like Alexander" in English. Did that ever turn out to be a fantastic decision. Read on to hear why. The restaurant's owner has to be one of the kindest, charismatic people that I have ever met. He welcomed us with open arms and we got to chat with him quite a bit and learn more about him. He also was very kind to us and gave us many free drinks just because he was a very generous person. This was completely unexpected and we were really grateful for this. In addition to a welcoming owner the atmosphere here in general was just relaxing and inviting. We got talking to the people at the table next to us and it turns out that they were regulars who lived in the neighbourhood and came here frequently because they had befriended the own. Meanwhile two buskers came by who played some mellow guitar music to add to the ambiance. Now I can finally talk about the food. We ordered a simple cheese fondue and it was wildly delicious. It came out very quickly and we enjoyed every mouthful. We were given plenty of bread to soak it all up and there was also a salad included so we could get some vegetables. Honestly my experience was so good here that I was almost sad to leave the restaurant at the end of the night. We wanted a memorable, final meal in Paris and boy did we ever get it. After eating here I feel fortunate like Alexander.

The richness of the flavor and the texture which is not reminiscent of the traditional roasted duck or foie gras, but rather a much more like a luxurious and indulgent version. We enjoyed our dinner on the outside of the restaurant after about a 20-30 minute wait. The bone marrow had the best flavor I've experienced for the dish. However, it is definitely overshadowed by the rich flavor of the foie gras. This experience was unforgettable, with our view of Parisian streets on a brisk, April night. We even came back on our last night, but didn't realize the hours on Google maps was for the deli. The restaurant closes earlier, before 9:00 PM. This meal got us thinking about Paris in a positive light, and we hope to be able to come back to eat the amazing dishes again!

They had a number of goods to choose from and I ended up buying a few things for souvenirs. As for the actual restaurant, they had a number of delicious sounding items on their menu. Our server was very attentive to us and helped us decide on our dinner orders. Similar to the other restaurants though. After our food was delivered, it was far in between when we were checked on again. And after dessert it took even longer for our server to bring the bill. Overall, the food was a letdown. I do not exaggerate when I say that the frog legs just tasted like slightly flavored water. My friend's ravioli had a fairly decent flavored sauce but the pasta was a bit chewy. My friend's duck breast was pretty tough; I had noticed the table next to us also ordered it and they seemed to have trouble finishing/cutting theirs as well. As for my steak with foie gras, well the steak was once again tough and the foie gras was weirdly stringy. It was soft for the most part but there were parts that were tough and stringy. Maybe that's a section that's generally separated in the preparation process and it was missed? In any case it was disappointing. What wasn't disappointing was dessert though; perfectly sweet and balanced.
