    Beef Bourguignon
    Harrison W.

Food: 5/5 Service: 4/5 Ambiance: 4/5 This is my favorite restaurant in Paris so far. 5 stars on their beef bourguignon and steak. Their beef bourguignon was delicious and the soup was thick. Steak was very tender and not chewy at all. I have been here several times but my latest experience was not so great it was on Halloween night and two of their servers weren't there. Wait time for the food was long. The whole restaurant was chaotic. People who come later got their food before the people that were there before. Other than that food was still delicious. Highly recommended. Make a reservation or get there before they open because it will fill up very quick. I would say within 15 to 20 minutes.

We experienced a delightful evening dining at Chez Fernand, it's hard for me to even decide what part of our experience was my favorite. What an exemplary French restaurant! Our server was amazing and incredibly attentive/patient with us. My boyfriend and I were starving, and this was our first day in Paris! We ordered the French onion soup and bone marrow as our appetizers. My boyfriend got the beef bourguignon and I got the Black Angus hanger beef steak with fries, and we finished the night off with some delicious caramel rice pudding. The French onion soup was our first, but I'll never forget the incredibly rich roux-like soup texture and the Emmental cheese that the chef paired with it. Every bite was sweet, savory, salty, fatty, and slightly different in texture due to the marinated onion and chewy cheese. The bone marrow with sea salt and bread was quite yummy, I've never had it before but it was less heavy than buttered bread and had a fun gelatinous mouthfeel. The beef bourguignon my boyfriend had was to his liking, he liked the marinated red wine flavor but it was not for me. The hanger beef steak with fries was incredible, the fries were so good and perfectly crispy and salted. The rice pudding was so simple but executed perfectly- what a beautiful plating, and what an even tastier dish! So sweet, the nuts on top added a fun crunch to each bite. So creamy and chewy, I was in heaven. Anything richer and I probably would've rejected it (just kidding- I'd eat anything from this spot). Such a perfect beginning to our vacation, I'm happy we spent it here.

Excellent spot in Paris for traditional French dishes. The restaurant is tucked down an alleyway and is quite small inside, creating a cozy dining experience. Given the size of the restaurant, it's definitely best to make a reservation in advance, especially if you have a larger group. We were about 20 minutes late for our reservation but they were still able to seat us thankfully. We started with the escargot (comes with 6) which were fantastic and the foie gras, served with some caramelized onions and a few slices of a sweet brioche bread which are both French staples. For the main course, my companions got the beef bourguignon which came with several large pieces of beef and a few smaller pieces of potatoes and carrots in a rich sauce. If two people both order the dish, they combine the portions into a single cocette and plate the dishes for each person. This could be a good option for a date and saw several couples doing so in the restaurant. We had a nice bottle of red wine with our meal and had a great experience overall.

Maybe my timing was off? I didn't enjoy dining here as much as I hoped. I reserved and had New Year's Eve dinner at Chez Ferdinand Christine. I could only get the 8:30pm seating. When I arrived, there was a rustic table in the entry room where I was seated. I ordered an entrée of mini mushroom raviolis in truffle sauce, a plat of scallops over orzo which had chorizo chunks and a dessert of frozen Grand Marnier soufflé. The portions were generous. I enjoyed the mini mushroom raviolis and delicious Grand Marnier soufflé. The plat was somewhat odd because the chorizo chunks were really strong flavored which overpowered the scallops. I ate one chorizo chunk and pushed the rest aside. The scallops were cooked perfectly but not seasoned. The service was gruff/quite brief with dishes dropped by assistants. My biggest complaint was the stressful ambiance during the meal. It was freezing outside. The door constantly opened and new patrons came in hovering over diners in my room. Luckily I was not closer to the door and didn't have anyone over me. For ~170 Euros, the food was good but the experience was not.

Of the two chez Fernand ( Rue Guisarde and Rue Christine), this is the one I preferred. They have the same ambiance and nearly the same menu but the bistro atmosphere and the beef bourguignon was more delectable here. We started with snails which were good but the star was the beef. Perfectly cooked, fork tender and served with little potatoes. The deserts( tarte tatin) and crème brûlée were equally delicious. We will come back !

I enjoyed my dinner and experience here. I made reservations but we had to wait maybe 15 more minutes to be sat, so luckily the host brought us some wine while we waited outside. The service was very kind and helpful. The space is small so I imagine they get busy and it's always a better idea to make reservations. We ordered the French onion soup and bone marrow for an appetizer and then had the beef bourguinon and roasted chicken. I enjoyed the bone marrow a lot. I really loved my chicken and thought it was a good serving.

Such a lovely restaurant tuck in the alleyway, we arrived a little before the restaurant opens, because we didn't have a reservation. The line gets long. They open puncture. The space inside is very tight, you need to move tables to get out of the seat. We were not hungry so was hoping to just get two appetizers. But was told that we can't do that, have to each order at least a main. So we ended up order four appetizers to get away with the minimum spending. The food are all very delicious, my favorite of the night is the razor clam, so fresh and flavorful not too overpower by the sauce. The scallops cooked perfectly.

Classic French restaurant very close to our hotel. Had so many good reviews so decided to come by last night. We made a reservation and was happy that we did since it was very busy and since it's not very large. We were seated promptly as soon as we got there and got a cute corner table. We got a couple of glasses of red wine, recommended by our server and it was delicious. We decided we wanted to try three starters. - escargot, wow it was delicious 10/10, could of ate more - onion soup, best I have ever tasted 10/10 - foie gras mushroom raviolis, wow I have no words. 10/10 Why we got main course we have no idea! Since we were pretty full by now. But for main we got the beef bourguignon, thick and really good rich flavor, and the veal kidneys, the husband said it was really tasty! Overall if you're in the area and want some delicious French food this is your place!

Checked this place out upon a recommendation from a friend and was not disappointed. I made a reservation, thankfully, as this place was packed on a Friday night. Dress code is chic casual, the vibe is lively, and there were both American and French people dining here. The menu is available in English and our water spoke English as well. The staff here is friendly and gave us great recommendations for dinner. Onto the food we had: - French onion soup: This was sooo good. Fresh, hot and flavorful. - Escargot: Yumm! - Roasted duck breast: Cooked perfectly and I loved the sauce it came with and the carrots purée was excellent! - Beef bourguignon: The beef was a tad overcooked for me but was still overall a tasty dish. - Crème brulée: Delicious and not too sweet. Overall, I had a great meal and definitely recommend this place if you're in the area!

THE place to go in Paris for a classic, no-frills French meal. Tight quarters but staff and patrons all in good spirits enjoying the standard French fare. Friendly to English speaking tourists, but quality of food should please locals, as well.

Reservations are highly recommended. It's a small place and when we ate there on a Thursday night, it was quickly full. Speaking of small places, it is just like many Paris restaurants, there is not much space between you and your neighbor. However, despite the close quarters, it does not detract from the food or ambiance. Of course, if you find this closeness too much, then you may be uncomfortable in this resto. BONUS- the restroom is in the ground floor. You don't have to go downstairs like with so many other restaurants. Now, on to the food! The staff speak English and they do have an English menu. The specials on the board are written in French. We ordered to share: Bone marrow Onion soup Arugula salad Beef Bourguignon Everything was delicious and I would order these again. Surprisingly, for me, my favorite was the arugula salad. Enjoy!

This is your traditional French Bistro cuisine with France's classic dishes - such as escargot with parsley and garlic butter! Soupe a L'Onion and their mushrooms sauce crème. To me the mushrooms were slightly too creamy and I would have like to have a stronger taste of much sons. But everything is cooked a la minute and fresh. Their Beef Bourguignon was delicious and the Beef was also cooked to perfection. The service was impeccable very diligent and pleasant. The ambiance is relaxed and very busy so reservation is highly advisable.

We enjoyed our dinner on the outside of the restaurant after about a 20-30 minute wait. The bone marrow had the best flavor I've experienced for the dish. However, it is definitely overshadowed by the rich flavor of the foie gras. This experience was unforgettable, with our view of Parisian streets on a brisk, April night. We even came back on our last night, but didn't realize the hours on Google maps was for the deli. The restaurant closes earlier, before 9:00 PM. This meal got us thinking about Paris in a positive light, and we hope to be able to come back to eat the amazing dishes again!

The worst part was the bread in the soup. It tasted stale which ruin the flavor of the soup. I had to finish without the bread. Escargot - Another disappointment. What made escargots special was the garlic butter and herb. Here, there were the herbs, no garlic, and French is famous with their butter but I taste oil but not buttery. Other places I actually get excited dipping the bread into the garlic butter but not here. Pan seared Foie gras - The quality of Foie Gras was definitely there. It's not as well seared as I hope but they managed to cook it through without overcooking it. The size of Foie Gras is kind of scary, it's like a small piece of rib eye steak. With just the onion soup and Foie Gras, I could barely swallow anything. Generous portion.

My wife and I booked this for lunch and were not disappointed!…read more It's a sharp restaurant with a clean look, prompt service, and exceptionally presented food. Plus, it is very good!! The menu may be a bit confusing, but our server cleared up any questions. (a la carte vs prix fixe) We started with a complimentary terrine with gherkins and onions which were delicious. I had the Brittany scallops in a pesto and citrus dressing topped with parmigiana reggiano - absolutely amazing! The Grand Marnier soufflé was the perfect ending to an outstanding lunch. I look forward to returning to La Regalade for another lunch or perhaps dinner.
