To start very good food. Had the enchiladas and were excellent. Traditional ambiance. That is the only good thing I can say about our dining experience. Waited over 20 minutes to have order taken. Ok they were busy I get that but others seated after us were served first. We then waited over an hour for our food to arrive. All the time waitress acted like we were not there. Finally caught attention of bus girl and she took our complaint to manager. We were told it was a computer error but that would have been easily fixed if waitress would have checked on us. Empty water glass and chip bowl for an hour. Paid our tab in full and left with a not very good experience. read more

Love La Cabanita. We have been going to La Cabanita for more since we moved to the area in 2000. Always good.

Pretty good. They have a vegetarian section on the menu so that's great. Fast and good service.

Husband said these were the best carnitas ever! I had a #5. The cheese enchilada was tasty but the beef one was dry. Ground beef and that was it. Meanwhile the salsa was zippy and the chips freshly fried. Fast service. Wish they had more beers to pick from but they had a comprehensive list of Mexican beers. Highly recommended considering where it is. Almost the middle of nowhere in farm country. Would come back again if in the area. Now if only I can learn to make carnitas like that! read more

Our friends in the area recommended we try this place as it is one of their favorites. Very family oriented restaurant, the staff were very nice and accommodating. it has a very warm, homey feeling and they made us feel very welcome. My best friend ordered a frozen strawberry daiquiri and I ordered a frozen lime margarita which were a little strong but very good. We all shared chips and homemade salsa which was very flavorful and we could not get enough of it! The queso cheese dip was very tasty. I ordered Shrimp Enchiladas which were very good but I could of used more cheese sauce on them. I love their Spanish rice however wished I had beans along with my guacamole and Pico de Gallo. Boyfriend ordered burritos which he really loved. We heard the sizzle of fajitas coming out to a table near us so we may need to try them next time. My best friend and her fiancé have tried many things on the menu and said everything is good and they loved their dishes. The food is sooooo good and flavorful. Can't wait to go back! read more

Great place! The menu offers something for everyone. The wait was not that long at all considering they're still a new place. (Line was out the door, but we were seated within 10 minutes. So we were out camping at Jellystone and wanted to find an easy meal that we didn't need to cook! I love Mexican food so of course we tried La Cabinita.. unfortunately it was pretty depressing. Service was fast and friendly but the food was difficult to swallow. My wife ordered the steak tacos and the meat was curious looking and lukewarm. I ordered enchiladas which is my go to. They looked amazing, the plate was super hot I was very excited. However, they were also cold to warm and just didn't taste very good. 4 stars considering the area, otherwise I'd probably rate it a 3.5. The food here is what you'd expect from a local mexican restaurant. Very friendly quick service that was attentive bringing plenty of drink refills and warm chips and salsa. I had the grilled chicken quesadilla and my chicken was VERY salty, which was a slight turn off, but had it been less salty I would've been satisfied. Everyone else in my party seemed okay with their food, nothing to rave about but no major complaints. They are also about $2-3 more for some dishes than the other spots in surrounding Mansfield or Marion, but you probably save that in gas by coming here. I recommend trying it and enjoying it as another local option when you just don't feel like driving to the other towns. read more

After being seated you're promptly given warm chips and salsa. The ridiculously extensive menu has an array of items in various combinations. This was our first visit to La Cabanita. We were seated quickly, and had our chips and salsa and our order was taken within 5 minutes of seating. The food was good, with big portions and reasonably priced. I had the fajitas and my wife had a combo platter. We both had the traditional rice and beans, which were good and hot. The fajitas came sizzling which is the way they should be. I think that the location has a lot to do with the reasonable prices. Mt. Gilead is out in the middle of no where, so they can not make the prices to high like if they were in Columbus. But the portions and quality of the food would certainly demand a higher price if they were in a big city. THEREFORE, I think it is well worth the drive to Mt. Gilead to dine at the La Cabanita. First time to the new restaurant. Was a line, but waited less than 10 mins to be seated. Interior is nice. Sat at table in back near bar. Service was attentive and prompt. Guacamole was fresh and handmade. Dinners came fairly quickly given how packed the restaurant was. Taco salad seemed small until began eating. Poblano pepper was cooked well. Too full for dessert. Each time I have ordered meals to go something has been wrong, but not missing. On Fathers' Day, we ordered and they shorted two of the meals, a cheese quesadilla and a chili poblano. The guy on the phone that we spoke to three different times (myself and my adult son) assured us that they would replace an entire meal in lieu of their error on the next time we ordered. He gave us no code, no name, no nothing. When I called back to order, I reminded them of their error and the owner denied it. I will not patronage this restaurant again. We have been to this place several times with no issues. Last night we ordered take-out. We ordered beef nachos with extra cheese and the #11. They do not do extra cheese, you have to pay for a side which is fine by me. The lady taking the order repeated my order twice to me. Not real hard to mess up a two person order (at least I think). Arrived at the restaurant, paid for my order and left. Drove 5 minutes to my house and my wife opens the two meals. She opened her meal and noticed there was no beef. She received cheese nachos so I decided to call up and talk to them. When I called and explained what happen, the lady told me "no you ordered cheese nachos". I told her I ordered beef nachos with extra cheese. She said "no you ordered cheese nachos and I wrote it down and that's what I charged you for". I told her the nachos included 10 chips with cheese and proceeded to count them out. Ended up with 13 chips and she said "well that meal is pretty small". If you want cheese nachos, just order a side of cheese as you get more free chips than a paid meal. After being told I was wrong several times I asked to speak to the manager. I was told the manager was busy. I called at 8:55 PM and they close at 9 PM. I was there 10 minutes before and there were 7 cars in the parking lot. I asked again and the lady hung up on me. I called back at 8:59 and she answered again and I asked for the manager. She proceeded to tell me the manager had left for the night as they close at 9 PM. I asked if the manager was the first person to leave when they close and she said yes. I could probably get passed receiving the wrong order but to be told I was wrong, she was right and to be told the manager was too busy to talk to me and being hung up on. Those are the things that are hard to get past. I'd totally recommend the short drive to Marion to visit those Mexican restaurants as that's what we typically do. read more
