Instead of complaining about how long it took and OH MY GOSH HOW DARE THEY MAKE ME WAIT, I have to give them credit. Though the 3 people working were slammed, they were churning out orders quickly and efficiently, fighting off the rush one drink at a time. It took about 20ish minutes to get my coffee, but after getting my hot lavender latte with oat milk, it was worth the wait. It was a very quality cup, and it was just what I needed to start my day. The shop is super narrow, but super cute and stylish. The roadrunner LED on the wall really added to the shop's character. Next time I'm in Lockhart, I'll go out of my way to get back to Chaparral. You enter the building and are immediately in front of the pit and even some open fire. You order your meat from the guys and pay there. Then you can go into the dining room and order sides, or just eat your meat like we did. They aren't kidding when they say "no forks." They just give you knives, but the brisket barely needs a knive.

Barbecue turkey is honestly an underrated concept and their turkey was juicy, soft, and would change any Thanksgiving meal to one for the history books. I was extremely disappointed in the slice of brisket though. It was extremely chewy like plastic. Decently seasoned but not tender at all. Probably a bit undercooked. It was worth visiting for the experience, especially to get a picture next to the fire pit, which one of the people on staff was nice enough to take for us. We decided to check out Loop & Lil's in downtown Lockhart. It was a Monday afternoon and it was pretty quiet inside. We ordered a small Greek salad and the Out of Towner pizza with no meat, sub mushrooms. Salad was great, everything tasted fresh and their croutons were so good and herby! As for the pizza, amazing! 10/10. It was so good I forgot to take a picture haha. The dough was light and fluffy, it had great leoparding on the bottom. They pesto was good and all of it together was wonderful! I also enjoyed their ranch too, had a dill flavor to it. Service was alright, but their food is the real superstar! Definitely recommend this place if you're looking for quality food!
