Had an opportunity to experience Harry's recently and I must say I was very impressed! The ambiance, decor, professionalism of the staff and our waiter was also a strong somm! The meat presentation was on point as well. We were taking some customers out for an anniversary dinner and they told us the japanese wagyu was the cut they wanted. Done! We started with the raw seafood tower and jumbo stone crab claws! Wish they would have cracked them in advance but not a deal breaker. The tomahawk was perfectly charred and juicy along with the other cuts we ordered. Very impressed with the small but powerful selection of wines - glad to see Darioush Cabernet on the menu and it was delish! Finally the cotton candy dessert was truly fun. Omg! This restaurant was very upscale with a lovely decor and environment. The service was impeccable. I had the salmon with mashed potatoes , Cesar salad and a beef empanada. It was delightful. I also had a lemon drop martini which was made to perfection. Their customary bread rolls were delicious, they melted in your mouth. This restaurant is surrounded by several other restaurants and some shopping stores, clubs, and hookah lounges. Outstanding place to visit if in the Playa de Carmen area. They even had an iPad for all the wines and desserts you could swipe through after they grabbed your menus. The food was quite good. The favorite being the carpaccio that had an interesting flavor with the added small pickles on top. Crab cake was absolutely amazing! (Coming from a native Louisianian) The steaks unfortunately weren't the most outstanding, which was slightly disappointing after such delicious appetizers and cocktails. Had a great meal here. When in Mexico sometimes you just want something a little more like home. Harry's is an upscale steakhouse that offers USDA, Kobe , Waygu, and Australian brand steaks. We started with a table side mixologist who delivered on the promise of best drinks. We had a dirty martini, old fashioned, and an amaretto sour. All drinks were made to perfection and generously portioned. We didn't have appetizers since we had snacks prior. We all ordered the 8oz filet. Each steak was well seasoned and finished with salt and cooked perfectly to temperature we requested. We also had three sides the creamed spinach, garlic mashed potatoes and grilled vegetables which included asparagus, zucchini , and peppers. The meal was all around good and the best meal we had in Mexico. The service is great . We also had the Harry's pie which is vanilla ice cream chock full of macadamias on an Oreo cookie crust topped with hardened milk chocolate. The price point all in was 378.00 USD for three people including entrees , three sides, and three alcoholic beverages. This is equivalent to higher end US steak restaurant. Definitely a nice away from home treat option when you have had your fill of tacos if that's even possible. The restaurant is dimly lit well appointed and polished. To say the prices were inflated is an understatement; the service was decent, the waiters were friendly, and the food we ordered was just okay, maybe a 3 out of 5, certainly not worth the price. But the worst part was the price of the wine. A bottle that would normally cost between $20 and $30 at most, cost us $450, $7900 pesos) and the waiters didn't even decant it. They also didn't warn us that the wine cost so much; all the prices were in Mexican pesos, making it difficult to figure things out in the dark and noisy environment. I am from colorado and was hoping for some happy hour oysters. No happy hour, unfortunately. I sat at the bar- I was the only patron in the establishment- I order a half dozen oysters and they were Large (not my favorite) and super fishy. Never would have said a word but SILVER the manager came to ask me how they were. I told him not my favorite. He insisted that he replace it for something else. I ordered the wagyu beef you cook on a stone and it was AMAZING. It was absolutely delicious. He mad my two bartenders- one was Alex- and the original cute kid as well- made sure they went ABOVE and beyond w their attention to making my experience SUPERB. Then- Silver wouldn't stop just there- brought me this aesthetically wowzie-ing cotton candy. I was beyond impressed and felt like they made sure I wasn't walking away in any way but awestruck. Starting as a mediocre dining to memorable and me wanting to shout from the rooftops w my delight. Thank you to all that made this memory for me! He made every moment of the evening special and there were some surprises for our anniversary. I won't spoil them for you. The bad: FOOD Yup, the food was not great at all. Certainly not worth the very high price. For apps we had artichokes and empanadas. The artichokes were delicious and the empanada was average at best. For dinner she had the salmon and I ordered the lobster. The salmon skin was soggy. We told the manager and he did offer to remake it, but we declined. The lobster had only black pepper and was overcooked. It was flavorless and chewy. We declined dessert for obvious reasons. Would I go back? Maybe. What a gem of a restaurant. Total 5 star service, ambience and food. There was not one thing wrong. I walked in feeling a romantic vibe and sat down feeling like I was in a very upscale restaurant. Menus are phone friendly, but you can also view menu on a menu that lights up when opened. The restaurant is on the darker side which I love. The Aesthetic of the place is so pleasing to the eye. We were waited on by 2-3 waiters that were very attentive the entire evening. Nothing but a sense of class and professionalism by the staff. The food was amazing. I ordered the salmon with the sweet potato puree. Amazing... the fish was fresh and probably the best I've ever had. The Mac N Cheese was perfect blend of cheese and wasn't to creamy or to dry. I loved the mac n cheese so much. The garlic mashed potatoes were a bit rich and amazing. The lobster bisque was good with a nice presentation. I dont eat beef, buy my honey loved the steak presentation and enjoyed his steak. We were a party of 7 and we all agreed that the food was delish. We had some cognac and a lemon drop. Overall *** 3.00 Weighted Stars. Harry's ambiance is incredible as is the service, however I found the food a bit of a letdown and at the prices they are charging that just shouldn't happen. (3/22/23) Setting ***** The restaurant is located on the second floor of an outside mall so outside it doesn't look like much but inside is visually stunning. There is a very cool Vegas type vibe overall complete with a DJ playing popular club music. Be aware that to complete the club vibe they keep it very, very dark inside which makes reading the very small menu print difficult. They must be aware of that situation as the menu is actually backlit but I still needed a flashlight. Service ***** Extremely pleasant and professional. Possibly up to six staff members at a time swarmed our table of ten deftly adding or removing plates, glasses or silverware with absolute precision and autonomy. Food *** Lots of hits and misses but overall I found the food disappointing. We started with appetizers of Empanadas which were fine just nothing really special. The oyster presentation is very impressive as it must have dry ice that they add water to causing the whole plate to give off a dense fog. The thrill ended there for me as I found them oddly inedible. I don't think they were bad, just didn't taste good and I spit them out. The appetizer standout was the kids platter of super thin, crispy and perfectly seasoned French fries. Entrées overall were an improvement but again nothing that I felt was truly special. Dishes that are well received included the Mushroom Fettuccine although is was a bit dry, the salmon and the best of what I tried, the chicken. The steaks particularly, while seasoned nicely and cooked perfectly, weren't all that tender or flavorful to the point that I didn't even finish it. I added a side dish of Harry's Potatoes which is sort of an Au Gratin. The potatoes were barely cooked and the dish lacked any flavor to overcome that issue. The desserts are large and very good. I believe every table ends with a huge cotton candy display as well. Value * The pricing is all over the place and not much of it makes sense. A very small Caesar salad ($17) was nearly as much as the Fettuccine entree ($19). Empanadas were $7 each, bottled water $16 per bottle! Carrot cake ($23) was almost as much as the Salmon ($25). Meanwhile the Sea Bass jumped to $45 and the Steaks at $70. The wine list is outrageously overpriced with a $10-$15 bottle of wine marked up to $65. The total is hard to come up with since they took some items off the bill due to some issues with the food but nonetheless expect to reach deep into your pocket. read more

My partner and I went out to celebrate his birthday. Everything was great until the bill came. This place is a total RIP OFF and they overcharge you. We ordered the lobster tail and Australian Wagyu cross A5 New York steak and no sides (just the steak). The meal itself was cheaper than the wine we ordered and it wasn't all that great. HOW WAS THE WINE MORE EXPENSIVE THAN OUR MEAL?! We looked up the very same wine bottle from 2020 and it was listed as $170 USD online, but they charged us $481 usd for it and the $170 USD is retail and any good business person buys wholesale so this makes it even worse. Our bill was $870 USD for TWO people. We will NEVER come to this restaurant ever again. If you're traveling from somewhere else then beware of the up charge. This is a tourist trap and they are not honest here. Receipts are included for this restaurant if you're also flabbergasted like us. Go spend your money elsewhere with more quality food and better prices. read more

Incredible!!! This review really needs to shout out the manager, Carmen, and the incredible wait staff we had serving us: Jonatan, Julio, and Mulato. They made sure we were taken care of and far exceeded my already high expectations. A place can have great food, but great people are what make a restaurant special. The food we had was incredible, each bite as good as the last. Our drinks were made elegantly, the wine was fantastic, the appetizers were great teasers for the meal to come. The steaks were cooked so perfectly, I was actually taken aback at how beautiful the color was. The seafood was fresh and juicy and rich. Our desserts were to die for and I'm pretty sure we didn't even get the best things on the menu. Most important though, and this cannot be stressed enough, is that the service was out of this world. The attention to detail, friendliness, "can do" attitude, and overall pace and assistance make you feel like a king. From the moment you step into Harry's you are "El Jeffe." The most important person. The ruler of your table's domain. No detail is overlooked. Your joy is their only focus and it shows. Their passion for their craft - food and service - is nearly unparalleled. We will certainly be back for many years to come when we travel to Playa Del Carmen. Anyone in Playa Del Carmen, this is place is a MUST. We stayed in Playa for 6 nights and came here for 4 of those nights because this place is so good. First, I must say this place has thee best service of any restaurant I have ever been to in my life. From the moment they greet you, they really do take care of you. We had multiple wait staff at our beckon call ready and willing to do anything we asked. I loved that they brought out the meat cart the first night, so that we could pick the cut of steak we wanted. It helped, especially since the menu offered a variety of steaks. The sides are absolutely delicious and I love that the steaks were accompanied by salt and sauces. Their dessert menu was amazing and we opted to try several different desserts and share because they were just so hard to choose from. To top it off, every night, they'd bring us a cotton candy tower (complimentary) which we could not refuse no matter how full we were. Overall this place will exceed your expectations with service and quality of food. It's definitely a place you wouldn't get tired of, lots of shareable dishes and desserts are out of this world. It's worth mentioning that 2 of the nights, we had steak, 1 night we tried the pastas and for our last night we opted for the lobster. We came here as a party of 10 , I understand that means that the waiter has to work a little harder and has to be a bit more tentative to all the people in the party . But our appetizers came out a bit late , and one never came out at all . the selection of cocktails on the drink menu we Par at most . We are from Las Vegas so we know what top of the line service is . And this steak house fell short today . The sea food patter leaked on the table and the waiter wiped the seafood water onto my jeans . I would recommend a different location if your looking for a steak .
