This was my third visit here and I have raved about my two past lunch experiences. This time I struggled with this rating. If the owner would have given us a credit and seem to truly care and want to make right I would have rated a 2. This time we shared steak fajitas on one side and chicken on the other. The fajita delivery is hot and we were warned but placement was half off the table. The plating is potentially dangerous as the skillet and wood underneath appear as one because they are both black and a strange rectangular design with barely any wood exposed. My brother in law attempted to nudge the fajitas back on the table and burned his finger. I mentioned to the server he had burned his finger and asked for a bandage or burn cream and he never came back. I believe he was nervous and perhaps unsure what to do. Our sides to fajitas were never delivered. We often had no drinks. This was a packed house on Saturday evening so it happens. Steak fajitas were by far the worst thing I've had here. The birria tacos are fantastic. All lunch items have been lovely. Enchiladas great but fajitas were chewy, poor texture and zero flavor. My mother in law was perplexed that no cheese was offered for fajitas but I didn't see that as odd actually. The cheese dip was good had a great texture and flavor. The owner did come over and apologize about the fact that outer tortillas arrived 5 minutes after fajitas and that our sides never arrived. He removed the sides from our bill. I mentioned the burn and he seemed concerned but again nothing happened. We didn't push. Owner seemed really great and honestly I hope this was a fluke.

My friend Kike from Queretero recently visited and ate here and highly recommended it so we came in for the first time tonight. All I can say is WOW! Starting with the salsa and chips all the way to dessert, everything is made IN HOUSE and fresh. We started with the cheese dip and it was great! The quality of ingredients is so obvious. I had the ribeye volcanes with street corn. My wife had the street tacos. Everything was better than expected! The steak was the most tender I've ever had in a Mexican restaurant. We met the owner Ramone and he was super kind and helpful for our first visit. We came on a Friday night and they even had live music that was excellent! I highly recommend La Cantina! We will be back soon and often!

Every time we go to La Cantina the service is impeccable. Everyone is always smiling and having a great time. The food is authentic and it tastes as good as it looks. The attention to detail is awesome. Throw in a drink and live music and have a fiesta.

We visited La Cantina on Main recently and, as usual, the food was very good! Our server, Kaleigh (spelled KALEIGH), was friendly and attentive, and overall, the service was solid. I ordered one of their cocktail specials -- the Pink Pony Club. While it was tasty, it came in an extremely small cocktail glass and was $12. I only got about five or six sips out of it, and for that price, I would have expected a taller glass or at least more volume. I get that part of the price may be for the atmosphere, but it still felt a little overpriced. La Cantina has definitely become more about the "scene" lately. When it first opened, it felt more warm and welcoming. We used to really appreciate when the owners or managers would check in with each table -- it made the experience feel more personal. This time, around 5 PM on a Saturday, it felt like the focus was more on taking videos of the bartenders making drinks than connecting with guests. While that's fine, we did miss the hospitality and charm that used to set this place apart. That said, we still enjoy coming here for special occasions. The food isn't quite as amazing as it was in the beginning, but it's still really good, and the staff are always friendly. Just be prepared for a bit of a trendy vibe -- and some higher prices to go with it.

Excelent place!! Real Mexican food, cooked with high quality ingredients, like a Mexican I can tell you this is real Mexican, no Tex Mex food, the price is fair because like I said they have a good ingredients I really recommend the place!

First time at the new La Cantina on Main. Let's start with the space: Super well done! The dining room feels fresh, airy and light. Awesome blend of old and new inside. Very inviting and feels lively. Now the food: we had the birria tacos and chipotle cauliflower. A side of esquites (Mexican street corn). Thr Birria tacos were awesome. The consumé was tasty. The street corn side was delish. Kitchen timing was on point and service was stellar. Great formula for success here. Great vibe, great service and great food. Cannot wait to come back. Well done folks!

You won't find a spicier burrito with flavor anywhere in town. If you like melted cheese, almost every dish is swimming in it. According to my wife the Margaritas are on point! I prefer a cold beer. It was a rainy day and my dad and I had arrived before I started grad school at Ga Tech. Our server was an Electrical Engineering student at Tech. It was appreciated after the typical chaos of moving to a new city that he happened over here my dad and I talking and he shared he went to Tech. Over the 2 decades since, I've brought friends who live here and from outside the city to enjoy the great serving and kitchen staff. My wife and I have been many times including on the restaurant's anniversary night last fall. We are sorry to hear the landlord has decided to raise the rent and sell the property. Heather has been our server multiple times. She was our server tonight as we celebrated my wife's birthday with her parents, aunt and sister. From calamari to the desert platter and entrees in between, the food was incredible. The fried lobster tails are a must. The mouse has been my wife's favorite for years. The one note is Jacob the General Manager needs to learn to trust his servers. At the beginning of the meal I let Heather know despite being a party of 7 to just bring the check to me and I'll settle up with the other guests via Venmo. And, at as we were finishing dessert, Heather came by letting me know the next party for our table was had arrived and could she bring our check. I said yes. While Heather was getting our check ($490 Food & $600+ after tip) the Manager came by telling us we needed to finish up and have our check brought. When I asked the Manager to not make this an unpleasant experience and that coming by after Heather had just communicated the situation and I had agreed she told me I should share this feedback with the General Manager. She, Jacob (GM), and I stood on the front patio where I explained what I'm sharing now: Trust your Servers. He said they were front facing and so the management likes to meet the guests. Having your Manager tell us we need to get our check and leave is not the way to meet your guests. Chef Jack and his wife (the owners) are hospitable and trust and appreciate their staff. Jacob having his Manager micromanage the servers management of tables is nowhere close the focus on service the owners have had for 26 years. I hope that Jacob and the Manager take this as a learning moment that if you hire talented people your trust talented people to bring their talents to their job. Sure it was busy. But, that's why Chef Jack hired the staff he hired. Jacob the GM needs to increase the communication with his talented team instead of using the excuse of being front facing to ever overstep their bounds on the relationship his servers have built with his guests. Heather introduced herself when we sat down. Jacob did not - nor should he have. Heather did a phenomenal job making us feel welcome, have food and drink we enjoyed, and even recognizing my wife's birthday with her favorite desert. And when the time came she handled coordinating bringing the bill and having us free the table so a new group could enjoy an evening at Agave. Jacob and the Manager need to trust their staff more. Micro-management is never a good look for your staff's morale or your guests' impressions. Please go see them for Jan 31st 2026 when they close. The servers are all wonderful as are the owners. And the food is like nothing else in Atlanta. The management simply needs to trust the talented staff from front to back of house with whom they get to work. If they're ever in doubt if a server is either providing the level of service they expect or turning tables at the rate needed to keep pace with reservations then talk to the server. The server needs to own their tables. Management should truly be of service to their staff - and you can only do that with trust and communication. Customers should never know management had a single question if the sever was doing what's needed. Because it's a bad look to come by twice about being the check. Especially when the 2nd time is in between the 1st ask if they could and the server bring the check. Of note, I already had my credit card out so that I could hand it to Heather as soon as she returned with the check. And in front of the manager, I handed Heather my credit card. Everything else was great. But, why rush guests?

So much better than other similar places where the chips were inedible and so hard. We requested red salsa that was more like hot sauce. The salsa that accommodated the chips turned put to be salsa Verde and mayo, not our favorite. So when we were asked, we requested a salsa verde option which was the best choice overall. The $2+ cost for endless chips was worth it for me. Hubby requested the shrimp fajitas and I ordered the shrimp Mexicana platter. Good portion sizes even if flavors were not that complex. Homemade corn tortillas were very good. Overall, an enjoyable meal. Looking forward to our next visit!
