Absolutely unacceptable experience -- unsafe food and overpriced. We ordered two trays of Imperial Rice and sides of maduros for a work lunch event. The food was extremely expensive for what we got, mostly rice with barely any chicken mixed in. I only had a few bites since I'd brought my own lunch, but several coworkers ate full portions. Within minutes, two people had to rush to the bathroom, repeatedly, and by the end of the day several others were also sick. The next morning, two coworkers called out; one even vomited in his car on the way home, and the other had severe diarrhea. By that night, multiple others were experiencing the same symptoms. It's clear the food from La Capital de Los Jugos caused these illnesses. Serving unsafe food is completely unacceptable, and the fact that this happened to an entire group is alarming. This restaurant is not only overpriced but also a health hazard. Someone needs to investigate their food safety and kitchen practices before anyone else gets seriously ill. read more

I was visiting an office in Miami Lakes and some coworkers brought food from here. It was what they called CHICHARRON, it was delicious.

The place was not crowed like El Palacio de los Jugos very clean with a huge selection of Cuban food, fruits and desserts and it was very cheap. I had coquito which is natural shredded coconut with burned sugar it was delicious, the chicken breast is huge with a good taste, but today I tried something I have never had before which I HIGHLY recommend Atole it's a cream of corn Cuban style very sweet and thick you won't regret. read more

I really wanted to like this place. Although I will give it another try in the future, it will definitely NOT be for breakfast. I was really craving an old school tostada Cubana con mantequilla...how difficult can it be to get an order of simple Cuban toast with Cafe con Leche wrong? I mean, it's bread and butter! First off, the "Cuban" toast was some other sort of bread. When I asked if they always use that type of bread I was told that is what they are using for now. I wish I would have been made aware. I could've gone to Sedano's across the way. Second, they must've been running out of butter because I had to squint to try and find it on the bread. So disappointing. Their saving grace was the Cafe con Leche. Done to perfection. Like I said before, I will definitely come back for lunch or dinner but there are too many other little Latin spots in this mall for me to recommend this place for breakfast. UPDATE... so I finally went for dinner and it didn't change my rating. It was around 9pm and the selection of food was extremely limited. Ended up getting a complete meal of vaca frita, rice 'n beans, & plantain to go. The flavors were good enough but not out of his world. At eleven dollars and change, I found it a bit pricey. On the plus side, the ladies at the counter were all very nice and, since there was only a handful of people, the service was quick. Let me start out by saying the food itself is excellent. It's your typical Cuban food but it does taste good & fresh. The food itself is a great reason to come here. Also, it's incredibly clean. Cleanliness is not something a lot of places in Miami have so the fact that it appears almost immaculate every time I've come in is fantastic. The reason I give it 3 stars is for the other reasons that unfortunately outweigh the food. As good as the food is, it IS standard Cuban food, which is readily available at a million and one locations in this city. Here are the reasons I only gave it 3 stars: (1) I attempted to come here the other night a little before 9:30pm. Per their website & the signs on their door, they are open until 10pm everyday. I knew selection would be limited but I was willing to take ANYTHING they had as I didn't want McDonald's. When I got there, the chairs were all stacked on the table, food put away, doors locked, etc. Just out of curiosity, I called & someone answered. I asked what time they closed & she said they were already closed. They had clearly closed prior to 9:30 which is already 30 min earlier than they say they close. If you're hours are no longer until 10pm, that's fine, however do not have your website & the front door stating incorrect operating hours. It's misleading & a quick way to lose clientele. (2) While the service isn't horrible by any means, it's not the friendliest. There was nobody in front of me. As a matter of fact, I was the only person at the counter. I had to stand there & stare at the girl before she acknowledged me. Again, she wasn't particularly rude but could've been friendlier. I didn't knock off a star for this but just thought I'd mention it. Friendly & efficient customer service would make the next con a bit more acceptable. (3) The prices. Just like the customer service, not terribly over priced but not as good as they could be. Maybe if the prices were to drop slightly for some items it would be a bit more understandable. $4 for a small side of macaroni salad, $7 for a small side of picadillo...seems a bit much for what you actually get, especially the picadillo. You can get a complete meal at other places for the same price & it includes the same portion size of picadillo, large portion of rice, & side. Here, just the side of picadillo costa the price of a full meal elsewhere. All in all it's a decent place that I actually really like. I prefer it to Palacios BUT it could do with a few tweaks to bring it to the 5 star mark & make some of their clientele go from being rare visitors to frequent customers. The food here is AMAZING! My husband and I only had a few hours in Miami and am so glad we stopped here for lunch! The chicken/rice/beans special seemed plain but it was definitely anything but plain! We tried the mango juice and the pineapple juice. Mango = way too thick, not a fan. Pineapple = I will crave it everyday until I come back here. This was the perfect place for a quick bite to eat before heading back to the airport. We walked in and saw a very long deli style counter with yummy Cuban food behind the counter. This place blows many out of the water. Cuban cuisine. From congri to yuca with mojo. Fresh juices and guarapo (sugar cane pressed juice). My favorite lunch meal is the pan con bistec and a pineapple juice. Best ever! The place is very clean so it makes the experience extra good. The staff is very good with their customers and always smiling. A small thing I have noticed every time I go is the guy (I think the manager) frequently yelling at his employees if they're not paying attention to incoming customers. I was in heaven when I walked into this place! I am not Cuban but being raised by a Cuban stepdad as well as living in Miami my entire life you have got to love Cuban food, channel culture and Cuban people! And of course my kids are half Cuban so that makes me love it more! This place had all kind of desserts! I found cocadas which I had not seen since the last time I went to Cuba many moons ago! I had to get those and they were delish! I got some merenguitos for my hubby with dulce de leche and he said they were awesome! I had a meal and it was so tasty and fresh! The grilled chicken and Maduros with congri! The amount of desserts were hard to avoid and I took some extra like the flan and arroz con leche. This place is heaven and even though it's so far from work and home I will make another drive to go as a family so they can all try the food!
